the only thing i like about this film is the ' werewolf itself ' none of the actors trying to act scary or supernatural.

werewolf in london , the mad dog is what makes the film .

That's the reason I think The Howling is a better film as it has an evil fairy-tale menace to it, but to be honest, this is a brilliant Horror-comedy with a very sad ending. I do remember fast-forwarding to the best bits though...

a work of genius? maybe not, but very, very good in the way it plays on the way we experience humor (by distancing our selves from the ones being hurt or in dreadful circumstances) and suspense (by closely identifying with the characters and their circumstances). a real neck-snapping roller coaster ride. lots of very enjoyable dissonance... this trailer is trying to get at it by playing the Marcels chipper blue moon while the terror ensues on the screen--both music and mayhem in the foreground

Well, the film is just a pseudo remake of the Wolf Man, but I have to agree with you. The director made a dark, sometimes flat, film with cheerful music.

Actually, i think it was more of a pseudo-remake of "Werewolf of London" from 1935.
