  • I'm here because the book "I Want My MTV" says this was the worst video of all time. OK, so Billy can't dance like Michael Jackson. Just needed a choreography do-over. The song was still pretty good.

  • Anything brought me here, I'm just a person with good music taste

  • "See the little faggot with the earring and the make-up?

Yeah buddy, that's his own hair.

The little faggot's got his own jet airplane.

The little faggot, he's a millionaire!"

    LOL I'm just kidding.

  • You think you're hot shit? He's not a piece of coal dumbass.

  • ever see a piece of coal try to dance? you just did.

  • Billy Squire is one talented bastard. I don't care if everyone thinks this video is gay. He is sexy as all hell.

  • Even gay people say " Damn that was GAY" ! I can't believe anyone thought this was a good idea ,especially back at that time . Hell you couldn't be that "fabulous" now and not kiss your career goodbye. Well maybe in the pop music game it would be all good.

  • Dude Billy invented the ass-slap move @ 1:53 that hip hop uses today. they need to give him credit!

  • Wow, forgot how gay this video actually is. Truth is Billy Squier tried to squash this b4 it ever aired but label overruled him. Hard to believe that a group of people actually agreed that this was the way to go.

  • He should have picked up his Guitar from the start of this Video, it would have saved him!

  • HAND MICROPHONE at 2min.

  • This is the best thing I've ever seen.

  • Jon McLaughlin's tweet brought me here!

  • @rogueleader005 Me too :)!

  • this video gave his career full blown aids!!!

  • at 00:30 is where it all went downhill

  • The good news for Billy is that he's doing alright. He's got enough money he doesn't have to work anymore. He got out of the music business at 43 and he's put this all behind him.

  • Worst video ever, he is either gay or the worst dancer ever. Why couldnt they film

him onstage instead of this crap?

  • Billy Squier said himself that this video killed his career.

Now I know what he means.

  • @Superkick71 Yep.

  • Gawd he's so hawt in this vid-- it's sad to know this video caused his decline from stardom.

  • And Prince joins us on bass! I was waiting for him to do some random push ups. Inexplicable jazz fingers...so much wrong here.

  • 1:24 "FUCK THIS SHIRT IM BADASS" 1:27 "On second thought, i think i will go with a mega v-neck and a wife beater underneath.."

  • jumprope move at 1:20

  • Vidal Sassoon commercial

  • He gives a brittany spears look at :48...lol

  • This would be the best video ever if it was a girl

  • 1:16

  • I loved this song til i seen the video. How much fucking gayer can u get!!! I mean come on man what is wrong with people?! how does this help your music career

  • @MrRogue37 I remember loving this song off the album (I liked Squier going back to the Don't Say No album, which I loved) and man, much like you, when I saw this video I was stunned. The only way this could get gayer would be if he started sucking off the band members, and I think I'd prefer watching that then this. And I'm not even gay.

  • @nycalling72 lmao, you got a legit point and i'm not gay either!

  • Billy said in an interview that this video totally ended his career.

  • Wow. Wow. Wow. I am completely grossed out. Such a hot and handsome face; such a hideous body and the worse male Flash Dance shirts I have ever seen. And the dance is just mortifying; wondering if Billy can look himself in the mirror yet...

  • What in the hell did I just watch?

How could anyone who was involved with this think it was a good idea?

  • An infinite number of naked supermodels added to this video would still make this the most homosexual video of all time. This guy is straight too. Thats what makes it so weired. This was clearly the product of incredibly poor judgement. Its too bad to because its a good song and Squier has an extrodinary voice in my opinion. I have to go look at some straight porn now to get this video out of my brain.

  • Never trust kenny ortega unless you are michael jackson.

  • See how the bed is empty? FOREVER ALONE after performing this dance...

  • Rumor has it that the band blew the whole video budget on drug-filled partying and whipped something up right before the deadline. The fact that the lead singer thought that this was good enough to make it a watchable video indicates narcissism and/or drug-induced delusions of grandeur.

  • the main verse beat sounds like 'cold as ice' by foreigner.

  • Hm, this could have been called "Nice Song, Shame About The Video" and been the B-side for Not the Nine O'Clock News.

  • directed by none other than the high school musical choreographer

  • Well, you ripped your shirt. Now what shall you do? Oh, put on a new, similar shirt.

  • Read on Wikipedia that all 400 MTV persons agreed that this was the worst music video. I looked at it and can't believe that they were are 100% correct right.........

  • Surely he must have seen it before it was released, and I will call him Shirley...

  • "Cock Me Tonight"

  • The song isn't too bad. Its a shame about the video though.

  • Shame about the video because the song is sooooo good.

  • You can actually catch the gay if you watch this too long.

  • Holy crap this deserves its place as the worst of its kind!

Im half waiting for him to break out into a Flashdance sequence, pink legwarmers and all...

  • Didnt know what the "worst video of all time" would look like, and now i know.

  • 4:20

    Nuts crushed

  • If Richard Simmons was a rock singer....

  • Wikipedia ftw

  • Kenny Ortega should have been taken out the back and shot! It'd be good to see a new 2012 version in response to Wikipedia; perhaps a montage of old concerts/studio footage. Still a classic rock song though. Well done Billy.

  • The choreographer went on to direct the High School Musical movies. Seriously.

  • why does this video not have MORE dislikes.

  • @pauliefinch cause its so bad its good, lol kinda like so ugly is cute,, haha

  • Comment removed

  • They said this was the worst music vid ever made... I didn't believe it until I saw it, and OMG it is f**ing atrocious.

  • Thumbs up if the "did you know" section of Wikipedia inspired you to come here and bask in the *ahem* glory of this video.

  • @chrisjt86 yeh... that's true!!! But I was expecting worse.

  • "not that there's anything WRONG with that!"

  • Director Kenny Ortega is a real DB. BS totally duped.

  • Who produced this shit and sabotaged Billy's career?!

  • After watching this video, I am absolutely baffled why Billy Squier was EVER perceived as a fag.

  • What's with all the hate, billy squier rocks.

  • LOL... this schit is funny! Sexy-as-hell voice... funny-as-heII video .. but ya know u were lovin' it in the 80's...LOL

  • there only one word that can describe that shirt hes wearing its on every comment page on youtube so ill spare everyone and the hate ill get from billy squire fans

  • good song but the video doesnt fit lol

  • Isn't it telling that the director of this video is a top choreographer AND the director of Michael Jackson's swan song "This Is It".

  • Not to call out the whole decade, but I'm fucking glad that I didn't grow up in the 80's

  • woops I thought I was watching a Billy Squier video, not an instructional video on how not to get laid, joking Billy is awesome (unlike this video)

  • Yeah, this video definitely ruined his street cred. But it was the lack of any hits after this song that ruined his career. A few more good songs and he would have been fine. C'mon, I've seen some pretty gay ass Rolling Stones videos and their careers are now legendary. I guess it's easier to blame something like this though then to face the truth.

  • @icandynetwork The Rolling Stones were already legendary when MTV went on the air in August of 1981. Billy Squier himself blames this video for killing his career.

  • @LeeAnne151 Yeah, I was just using them as an example. This definitely didn't help his career but I think Billy just can't accept the fact that maybe his music wasn't as good after. If he would have put out a couple of really good hits after no one would have cared.

  • the song is great, though

  • I dig him shimmying down the pole like a cheap stripper...

  • the beginning of the end of his career...

  • Oh lord, everything that was wrong with early MTV!

  • Holy light in his loafers Batman...Billy Squier is a flaming homo

  • I like Billy, but this video is like childbirth: painful to watch, and a joy when it's over!

  • Billy Squier Rocks!!!

    Pure Rock 'n' roll

  • Love it. He doesnt get enough credit for this!!! Love u billy!!!!

  • Test

  • Wtf that was bad. Kinda like a car wreck, i couldnt look away.sooooo gay

  • This wasn't as bad as I was led to believe. It's pretty bad, but it doesn't make me want to stop listening to Billy Squier.

  • I'm a little freaked out that he might actually be naked when he gets out of the bed...and the half sleeve is weird, too.

  • Almost as funny as Bret McKenzie's angry dance solo in "The Third Conchord" from season one of Flight of the Conchords. Look up: bret's angry dance; it's hilarious.

  • The director had to have been gay and Billy trusted him lol. Now we have the worst video of all time.

  • @RunDCM the same director of "High School Musical".

  • @RunDCM

LOL....if my feeble memory serves correctly, this came out in 84. I suspect the director wanted to copycat 'Flashdance' a bit. I remember watching this and thinking that Billy was really going to regret agreeing to this bit! Bless him!

  • @RunDCM I think you're actually right about that....read the new book I Want My MTV, there is a whole section on this video...it's pretty interesting...

  • When he dives onto the bed at 2:47, all I can imagine is him diving onto a giant cock face first.

  • oh, so THIS is what happened to his career...

  • THis video was the end to a mediocre career.

  • No one wants to see a middle aged douchebag wearing a pink flashdance shirt and dancing alone in his room like a 9 year old .Wait!! I guess since i watched this .im wrong ..FUCK!!

  • Is it just me but I think he could pass for Mic Jagger.

  • When my sister would get mad at me I would imitate his dancing in this video to crack her up. I always won our arguments back then. Thanks, Billy Squier!

  • Good song but he dances like a chick

  • If you listen very closely, you can actually hear Billy Squier's career ending in the background.

  • @shutitok

    HAHAHAHAahahahahahahaha!

    Ahhh...... good one.

  • I dont care what anyone says regardless of video that his voice is sexy, its a hot song and as a woman i get a hot male walking around i am set. Set me up my popcorn and leave me alone im watching billy squier videos tonight. LOL

  • A man could build a thousand bridges, or rock the world with a vengeance All he needs to do is show up like that, and the past is instantly forgotten...

  • This is just painful to watch.

  • All they had to do was get a hot dancer do a striptease thing with Billy jamming on his guitar with them ending up in bed, could have been one of the greatest videos ever but...

  • I didn't know this douchebag was in Flashdance.

  • people shouldn't have judged the video.

  • I used to dance like that too when I was a homo

  • Billy has no one to blame ultimately but himself for this. He wasn't some newbie doing his first record or video. He had to have some clout to say "hell no" to this. Kenny Ortega was a choreographer when this made...and Billy is no dancer by any stretch of the imagination.

  • Who is Kenny Ortega? I'm guessing his background is in NYC fashion. I'll bet Billy wishes he could have a "do-over" on the decision to go with this video.

  • WOW, wonder who he was thinking of when he wrote "Stroke me"

  • I think this video killed his career, too bad really that this director gave such bad.... direction

  • I was a teenager when this song came out, and even by the standards of the mid-80s I thought Billy was coming out in that video.

  • Kenny Ortega is same director of the "High School Musical" movies. Glad to see he has always been creating ridiculous crap!

  • This is some of the funniest dancing I've ever seen! I also love that his shirt matches his guitar. lol.

  • Oh my. Heard on the "Q" tonight that this was an example of how video killed a career. Now that I've seen it, well, yeah.

  • What the hell was that? Besides a career killer!

  • Okay that was weird,

  • Billy, u shoulda just have said NO

  • I love Billy and this song, but this video is too gay. He jumped the shark with this shit.

  • One has to wonder, at any point during the shooting of this video, did Billy think to himself, "Man; I'm not to sure about this s*it...."

  • @lothartheterrible - remember the 80's were the "coke" years. He probably thought he was a unicorn flying thru the air while shooting this.

  • @therapyfan Thought I was the only one who had that dream....

  • @lothartheterrible Billy is actually doing the same type of video as David Coverdal did the only opposite is that david had tawny dancing around the bedroom while he lay there. If Billy had copied this formula (which would have negated his terrible dancing ability) then the video wouldve been better.

  • @22centman36 Ya think?

Besides, "Is This Love" came out almost five years after this video was shot. Billy couln't have "copied" it.

  • @lothartheterrible what I meant is that if the director of billys video had the vision of the director of coverdales video, then bilys video probably wouldnt have been that laughable.

  • In the book, I Want My Mtv, they have an entire chapter dedicated to this video coming very close to ending Billy's career. Very interesting. The book is 700 pages, but if you grew up in this era, you will not be able to put it down once you start reading.

  • @tarheel0309 That does sound interesting. I was born in '76; definitely a member of the MTV Generation.

  • ok minus the video like ya never seen it & this song kicks ass!

  • What the fuck did I just watch?

  • Prance, Billy, Prance!

  • As interpretive pajama dances, go, this one's pretty good. 2:14 omg.

  • Didn't know Billy Squire was queer. At least in this video he acts it!

  • Jennifer Beals sure looks ugly in this video.

  • Was the director of this vid the same Kenny Ortega that was tasked with bringing Michael Jackson's "This Is It" show to the masses? If so, then what the H was Mike thinking??

  • And this ladies and gentlemen is why you NEVER want to get caught on film. I actually felt sorry for the guy while watching this. Good singer, good talent, BAD decision.

  • Larry David should do a "Curb Your Enthusiasm" sketch on this video/Billy like he did with Bill Buckner. What not a better way to overcome the past by embracing it in a comedic manner...

  • He looks like Freddie mercury's energy and soul morphed with Brian May's look....>WTF

  • Wow.....could this guy be flaming ANY more?

  • Even gay people are blown away by how gay this video is. It actually offends gay people because they know they could never achieve the level of gayness this video has.

  • it's the video that absolutely ruined his career..lol..but what a rockin' tune, Squier jammed back in the day..love it

  • He should have killed someone for this video. He has some great music. It's too bad he has this hanging around his neck.

  • Alas, this "VIDEO killed the RADIO star"...

  • Hurr hurr hurr.

  • Dance that shit out of your system billy!

  • Squier said this video caused the start of the end of his career.

  • @charnk

I agree, it did kill his career

  • @LeeAnne151 Instantly. Think about it...this is a guy that put out some of the best popmetal of the first four years of the 80s...The Stroke, Lonely is the Night, Everybody Wants You, In the Dark, Emotions in Motion, and this tune is right up there. But after this? Nothing. All his hits came prior to this video, and he was done after this.

  • @decristo1021 I agree, it did kill his career. I saw him live when he sold out arenas and he was no joke. He had some huge hits. This video simply did him in. It wasn't the song, it was his god awful dancing. Rock Me Tonight would have been a hit without the video. In this case, Video did kill the Radio Star~

  • What is this? Some kind of gay Jane Fonda workout video?

  • Now that's KICK ASS!

  • Some of you are just 1980s playa' hata's!

DO YOU have 10 ft. close-up clown collage photos of your mug -- or an industrial-grade hook and hoist in your loft?

    I DIDN'T THINK SO!

[NOTE: a daily calisthenics regime is healthful, and let's face it... underwear can be tricky to remove... especially if you're caught in someone else's underwear... all the while engaged in calisthenics.]

  • the 80's was GRIM

  • This is where a good manager comes in and doesn't let the artist go to the far end of his creative instincts.

Unfortunately this video, from what I hear, killed the album which although weird was VERY good. This song still rocks, Billy rocks and the guys in the band, 27 years later, still look cool as hell!

  • Who knew- a music video about epilepsy!

  • Pretty sure you can't teach someone to mince around around like this sissy.

    ; c )

Blame the videographer, but hey .. everyone knows what comes from Wellesley Mass.

  • all the video needed was a model in bed for it to not have been career suicide

  • what is wrong with that lady?

  • hot!

  • This is seizure inducing!!!!!!!

  • I thought this was a horrible video when I was 13, and now that I'm 40 I think my teenage self was correct. This video sucks. The dancing is looks like a girl's marching band. And the crane hook I never understood. Were we supposed to be wowed by that?

  • Friends don't let friends drink and make music videos.

  • Take me now Billy Squier

  • Its all right Billy I won't hold it against you.

  • whoever did the makeup of this video is so gay and made billy look that way n i totally love

  • Budget for this video mustve been nil. crap.

  • I was 12 or 13 when this video came out, and I have to admit I actually liked it. I could be in the worst mood ever, but this video put a smile on my face. Everyone in it looked so happy. I really wanted those pink silk sheets and the pink top with the matching pink guitar. It still puts a smile on my face. A couple of years ago, I showed the video to my husband, and he said, "Is he...skipping?" Good times.

  • i respect Billy, but damn.... from 01:15 i just could help myself but laugh. that is is some geyest jumping if i've ever seen any.... his music is ok, but damn, i wish i could un-see this....

  • Wow. The book was "I want My MTV" was right, this is bad. But probably not the "worst video" of all time. I think that belongs to "who let the dogs out" by whomever the fuck sings that. Or could it belong to "grove is in the heart" by what's that bitches name? Anyway its bad but it could be a whole lot worse.

  • @GunnsandGod Deelight did Groove is in the Heart...but I always thought the singer was sort of hot...

  • This is the worst music video I have ever seen in my life, I think. Even worse than all of the bullshit that's been everything in the music industry for the past 10 years. Wow, even his lipsyncing is terrible!

  • I loooove this song! It is such an awesome song! But looking at this video NOW as an adult you can see how his dancing here was a bit ummm fruity maybe? I am not knocking Billy Squier so dont take me wrong on this, just sayin that his dancing was not very manly! And not one of the best videos for the 80's but the song rocks! :-) Regardless, I love the 80's sooo much and I had the best times then, the funnest and craziest times! Oh how I miss it now! I sure miss the 80's! :-(

  • Billy Squier admits now that making this video basically destroyed his career. He was at the top of his game at the time. WTF was he thinkin'???

  • Its too bad cause Billy made some damn good music.

  • That was the gayest video i have ever seen.......I will never listen to this song again without thinking of this....

  • this video is how you destroy a career!

  • Come to think of it, I think a good idea would be to do this dance next time you go to a job interview. When he or she asks the first question, don't say anything, just stand up and start dancing exactly like this for about 5 minutes or so.

  • I remember watching this as a little boy when this vid came out. Even then it made me cringe. I'm 39 years old and upon seeing it again I still cringe. Something just ain't right.

  • The video does suck, however, the
