  • Awesome! I'm a photographer and I've been looking for a method to do this most like I would photoshop or indesign. You hit the nail on the head! Thanks!

  • @dgsurfnazi You're most welcome!

  • This guy took the long way around!!!

  • Really helped me with my media! thanks x

  • Christina Grimmie brought me here :)

  • @LeAwesomeMoi random searching brought me here

  • simple but effective :D

  • dude explain your shit more thoroughly, this tutorial sucks cock

  • Would I be able to add more screen both vertical and horizontal?

  • this was great to follow and allowed me to do what I need to do for my upcoming show. Thanks!!!

  • great tuturial. i appreciate it 1000 times !!

  • hey i was able to reduce the size of it using motion, but it won't let me drag the image on the canvas at all. do you know any reason why it may not be allowing me to do it? thanks.

  • @zeniaroxx On the top menu, choose VIEW and make sure Image & Wireframe is checked. Then, you should be able to drag the image on the canvas.

  • @TheConfessionMovie Hey, please tell me one thing, why do you need to move v1 to track two at 1:05 ?

  • can i ask u a question? ive seen alot of vids where the camera is shown as though its a FPS cam, where you can see the arms without having to put the camera down somewhere, like the scene with the guy sitting in the chair, do you attach the camera to your head to do this?

  • @coolHalo2Glitches The shot you are talking about in the video was shot with a tie cam -- a small camera which was hidden in the tie. The camera was very small -- like the size of a dime.

  • dude hecka dumb way of editing... just drag straight to the timeline... it creates its own track and you dont have to take extra long time doing all that dumb shit

  • do you know how to do a diagonal split?

  • I have to keep rendering each time i change the size.... what do i do?

  • I do a mirror effect with final cut

  • i have fc studio 7... how do you click and drag the footage once you shrink it? i don't seem to have this option. do you need Crumple Pop or something?

  • thanks for the tipps...

    i will try it now.

  • can you do this in final cut express

  • can you also do this in final cut express

  • thanks for the helpful tips

  • @metaguitar Yes, there are other tutorials on youtube that will tell you how. Try searching for final cut pro cloning

  • is this free?

  • @ikbenlaurierrr Is what free?

  • i love it .. thats a great editing skills ,, im goin to use it for my film

thanks for posting it up sir

  • So can you use this technique to promote your own videos at the end of your youtube video? Like, for example, Shane Dawson. At the end of his videos he always has these 4 different videos going at the same time, and makes them clickable so you can watch them.

  • Great Job! I Loved it!

  • It wont let me move the top layer. I've tried dragging it several times. any suggestions?

  • @Steezgeez Is the layer locked? Is the "arrow" tool selected?

  • @Steezgeez Is the layer locked? Do you have the Arrow tool selected?

  • @TheConfessionMovie It happened to me too. The layer seems to be unlocked and I have the arrow (pointer?) selected

  • thanks!!

  • In the File Section of Aries-Films you can download everything you need to create your videos and go even further. Just google for Aries-Films

  • Where is that little film from and i wanted to see the rest, does he get shot?

  • @FOXSniping It is from my movie, The Confession. You can get it from my website, filmschoolinabox - It's linked from my youtube page

  • reminds me of the show 24

  • This will be useful for a security camera effect. Thanks dude.

  • really helpful tutorial. thanks! i'm on final cut express 4 and it works fine on it too

  • I actually Rendered the video and it fixed the playback problem. Thanks for the post!

  • First...thanks for the post...VERY helpful! I have taken all the steps and split the screen. But when I press 'play' only the video on 'v1' plays. Any ideas? Thanks in advance!

  • Comment removed

  • Hi this was very useful

I wanted to know if the screens can be of different shapes and not just rectangles...like random shapes...is that possible with split screens?

    thanks

  • Yes, you can use masks to change the shape of the screens to whatever shape mask you use.

  • @TheConfessionMovie how do you make a mask in final cut?

  • i have the new flip HD camera, it automatically makes the video files into mp4s, and when i import the files into the new project and then pull one of the videos into the timeline and then try to play the video it starts beeping and says that i haven't rendered the video.

so i tried rendering it and it said that i was going to take 38 mins!!!

im doing a 7 screen split, 3 on top 4 on the bottom, does this mean that i have to wait 4 1/2 hours to start cropping or am i doing this completely wrong?

  • Question: How long are the videos? And what are the specs on your system?

I haven't had the chance to work with the HD flip yet. I suggest you go to a help site like Creative Cow and post on their Final Cut boards. Their pros are excellent and quick and will do their best to help you.

  • how do you do the distort tv simulator on the intro?

    plz tell me

  • I used keyframes using the distort function on the motion tab.

  • xD

sorry i made the wrong question... but thanks for replying...

i was asking how did u did the tv simulator?

  • Not sure I understand your question. Can you give me the time code of the thing you want?

  • ok... 0:02

  • Ah, well, actually, that was a real static hit that I cut in. It was from the same movie that the clips are from. So, I can't really tell you how to duplicate it, because it was actual footage. Sorry, man.

  • no prob man... thamks anyway

  • Actually, you could try using the "Bad TV" filter in Final Cut Pro. Play around with that and I'm sure you can get something pretty cool.

  • Can you do all this in Final Cut Express?

  • NOOOO!!!!!

  • oh my gawd. This is a video made from the most glorious place in the universe. I've been trying to find this out for almost a year haha. I finally wanted to look up how to do it today. You are amazing.

  • thanks so much

  • awesome. thanks.

  • Great and clear. Thanks.

  • im starting a video in which i want there to be 7 screens

3 on top 4 on bottom

    is this possible?

  • Sure, you can do as many screens as you want.

  • Thank you, I needed to try a split screen for a scene, and I think you were quite straight to the point. Keeping you in my favorites.

  • Hey, great video, very simple to follow actually, but I have a question, I'm using final cut express 4 and after a shrink the video I can not move it to any side...is like if it's stuck there, is the vertion I'm using different?? Hope you can help me

  • Hey, sorry, I'm not sure about FCE4. This was made for FCP5 and up! Best of luck.

  • is there the x accross the screen? i have FCE4 and im sliding the place all over the place. infact if you select a track in the timeline so it is in the canvas, at the top of canvas screen, just to the right of center, there is a drop down menu that offers "image+wireframe"... Once you have a wire frame you can resize or slide the clip around. good luck, let me know

  • Oh...yeah, haven't noticed that, I'm all nw to final cut, I'm more used to premiere...Thanks 4 the help it was really useful!! Worked perfectly thanks a looooott!!!

  • thanks! This was a HUGE help!

  • how do you make all clips move at the exact same time? is there any easy and quick way?

  • I'm not sure I understand your question. Can you be more specific?

  • I mean for time codes in the clips how do you match them to start and end at the same time?

  • How do you move the newly-sized shot to the right (as described in your video 1:44)? I moved my arrow-cursor to the canvas image as told but NOTHING happened; my image remained in the ctr; it is "stuck" in its current position. Is there a command that needs to be done in order to move this newly-sized image right??? If so, then this missing command should be added to this tutorial; not all commands are known by newbies, after all (which is why we need tutorials, to LEARN commands!!!).

  • Your tutorial is incomplete, because it would be helpful to include ALL commands needed for an action, such as clicking on "left" triangle arrow next to scale option (which is necessary after adding desired scale # in order for scale-choice to be applied; see ur video's time 1:38, where this action should be done). Maybe these command-necessities are known by knowledgeable people such as the creator, but this video IS a tutorial to teach OTHERS who don't know, such as myself

  • Good example, asi nunca olvidaremos esta clase.

    saludos

  • good shit bro

  • I want to know if the guy gets his head blown off. LOL Just kidding. Thanks for the great tutorial!

  • Yes! 8D

    I've been looking for this.

Thank you so much for doing this.

Now I can do my AMV

  • Great help! Thanks for this advice!

  • ahh wow that was kind of confusing at first but now i got the hang of it

  • I'm working with FCE and I tried to repeat the steps you did but it didn't work is it possible to do it with FCE 4? I want a a 2 way split screen such as when two people are talking on a phone.

  • Sorry, but I don't know anything about FCE. Is there a Motion Tab on the Viewer Window?

  • FCE4 will do everything FCP6 does except for multi-camera and 3 -way colour correction (multi-camera is a way of synchronising multiple angles and then cutting them "live", like for a music video shoot). Yes, you can easily drop multiple clips on and resize in FCE just like FCP. I use FCP at work and FCE at home.

  • I want to make a series of clips into a split screen sequence. How do I use the motion tab center values to make 2 (or even 4 screens) EXACT throughout the entire sequence?

  • Thanks

I'm gonna need this for Media Studies :D

  • I want to make a series of clips into a split screen sequence. How do I use the motion tab centre values to make 2 (or even 4 screens) EXACT throughout the entire sequence?

  • Send me an email with a more detailed description of what you want and I'll try to talk you through it.

  • Thank you, the explanation was very clear. im looking forward to watch more of this tutorials!

  • Thanks.

  • Why did you need to keep moving the v1 thing?

  • hey dude thanks. i've been trying to get some good software to make my musics videos. but just in case i need to ask, is that final cut express or pro. is there any difference. i have a macbook pro and i wanna use all its potential. thanks again

    please respond.

  • cool but the bottom right corner is off screen is off alittle on this example ...you can hold apple as drag the slider or type in decimals if full numbers aren't giving the precision you need

cheers for making these just thought I could add to it

  • wtf is this video who gives a shit

  • what if i want it split horizontally?

  • Follow the same steps, but change the dimensions to be horizontal instead of vertical.

  • you keep it at 100% and just crop top and/or bottom in motion tab.

    now you move them

you can use numbers in "center "effect or simply drag it to where you want(make sure it is on image and wireframe mode in the canvas(on top 2 to the right of display %'s))

  • Thanks so much! I was trying to use this feature for a long time now and I couldn't find anyone to show me.

  • Tight. Good lookin' out man. Keep that shit comin'.

  • This is the most exciting vid I just watched today. I'm totally thankful for this!

  • you saved me some time

  • test

  • when ever i try to play it a message comes up saying it is un-rendered.How do i make this work? Also i can only hear audio for clip two not clip one. Please help me I have a deadline. Thank you

  • Send me a message with your specific problems and I'll try to help.

  • push comand r or go sequance render audio, video and slelect both

  • i thought it worked that way. thank you

  • why did you move the v1 video track up?

  • yea why? I'm intrigued too.

  • I was using the overwrite button and didn't want to overwrite the V1 track. So, I enabled the v2 track so it would write there.

  • After importing the videos, ill move the boxes around and position them the way i wish. when i try to play both files at the same time, it says its un-rendered. On top of that I only have audio for clip two not one. How come? Please help me I have a dead line.

  • heads up to other novices : I ran into problem when i couldn't position the scaled down layer in the canvas screen. i found out i needed to click the drag down menu from the 3rd button on the top center of the canvas screen and select Image & wireframe from the drop down menu, then i could i move the smaller layer around. other than that, i'd day awesome tutorial guy.... THANKS : )

  • sweet action!

  • thanks!!! I had the same problem and was too dumb to figure it out!

  • Magodeo, You are out of disk space ? xP Change the location of saved videos to a new place.

  • what progrom is this?

  • Final Cut Pro by Apple...

  • can i do this on final cut 4?

  • I have a problem, every time i want to export my movie to a quick time movie and error appears " Error: Out of disk space " can someone help me ?

  • yes, it means ur disk is full so either u delete some stuff from ur hard disk or u export ur film to another disk

  • save your stuff to another hard disk or make space on your cpu

  • clean your hard drive! try to unistall programs you don't use and free some memory and increase you hard drive space
