I hear WPXI still has more than its fair share of technical snafu's, despite being in its new digs for well over a year.

The equipment upgrades also reportedly allowed the elimination of quite a few staffers.

I don't know that that is a fair assessment. Technical snafus are part of live TV-- they do happen to everyone at some point or another.

There have been some eliminations-- who in media HASN'T scaled staff back?!? -- but none have been because of equipment. It still takes people to run equipment, new or not.

yeah my station in roanoke va ignite system completely failed last week. then the back up system failed. All the graphics were on the screen at the same time and it was like 5 minutes before our 10 oclock show on saturday. It looked like strobe lights. We couldn't fix it for awhile so we ran commercials for literally like 10 minutes then had our meteorologist do weather for 7 minutes then ran Cops the rest of the time. It is a great system but isn't realiable.

I think our "growing pains" with Ignite have been well documented.

After 5:30 what is all those sets? Especially the curved green set.

When I took the video the sets were still being built.

5:19 the "floor mat" used for the Jerome Bettis Show

5:24 is a chroma wall for virtual sets

5:27 brownish wall is part of the Honsberger set. It has since been completed.

To the left of the Honsberger set (in the pan shot) will be the Night Talk set (it is being rebuilt now). On the other side of the door (behind the stepladder) will be the "interview" set used for Our Region's Business, Impact, etc.

Sweet, thanks. Will the shows be getting new sets, or same-old dated looking sets brought over from the old building? And our commercials still being run out of TV Hill? And please, suggest that 11 get rid of that HORRIBLE music they play for FOX53 10:00 News. It hurts to listen to..

As far as I know, those sets will remain largely the same at least for the immediate future (what, a brand new building isn't enough?!?)

TV Hill retains tower, transmitter, and Master Control for now.

Music isn't my forte... but I do think the 11pm music is much improved. Nothing I can do about the 10.

What type of robotic pedestals are you using?

Pedestals in the News studio are Vinten.  The pedastals from the old studio are being moved into our new production studio. Those are Ebo-Radamec (I'm told) which was bought out by Vinten.
