  • 2:25 uh....

  • Info this track was composed by the Unknown DJ, also know today as DR DRE !

  • @BeatShakerZ Dr. Dre was World Class Wreckin Cru, a quality oldschool electro producer for sure, but pretty sure he was NOT 'Unknown DJ.' Would be interested to know where you heard that from. I mean, I MAY be wrong, though not about World Class Wreckin Cru.

  • anyone know where i can get this sets? I mean ALL from the new dance show :D Please help

  • my skin is beige by my soul is black.

LOL... man ive been waiting to say that for years.

    hope i dont get flamed.

  • rafacalif it was called the new dance show filmed in detroit mi in the late 80 s

  • omg what show is this!!!!!!!!!! i love it!

  • Man, i just realized again how much we white people suck at dancing

  • This hasn't dated at all and still sounds awesome. Nice post.

  • Man this music is classic!! Thank God for Old School Satuday in the D!! WGPR

  • damn, sick song, sick moves. good vid

  • that guy was crumping before its time

  • Was Miami Bass popular in Detroit in the late 1980's or was it the House and Techno sound.

  • @1988acid In Detroit it was a hodge podge of Chicago House, Miami Bass, New York/Los Angeles Electric Funk and our own Detroit Techno. The electric funk sound had played out in NYC and LA by 1987. This was a track from LA 's Unknown DJ and to most LA folks this track was unknown. Detroit mixes definitely did not sound like Miami i.e. Jam Phony which was pure Bass. In the D we spun dance music faster than our Chicago and Miami contemporaries and we mixed the above genres all together in one mix.

  • @0franko9 Good post mate.

  • @0franko9 i agree with u,we jammed this muthaphucha in detroit but since i moved to vegas 20 years ago i havent heard basstronic played no where and like you said:unknown dj was a west coast DJ.it is a shame that he is somewhat unknown on the west coast because i think basstronic is one of the best cuts of all time especially the way jesse the body used to bring that shit in on the new dance show mixes

  • @0franko9 Thanks for the info. Did you guys think that the House sound would end up having such a huge impact around the world? So many people all over the world listen to house now, especially 30 and younger. Its really cool to see things like this to get a better understanding where it came from. I take lots of pride in knowing it started here in Chicago and also in nearby Detroit.

  • Omg. I remember when my mom and dad had this show on tape. haha

  • That electro is serious! I see y'all up there in The D.

  • WHat is this like a flashback from the Soul Train, Dance Fever era? Or should I call it error?

  • @RayAir1 Call it whatever you want if that makes you feel better.

  • Thanks for the Take Back in the Way Back machine, LOL!

    Deeee-troit!!

  • I really like this show! I might actually watch TV now and then if stuff like this was on.

  • bass!!!!tronic!!!! hella old school!!! breakdancing music!

  • This was a big part of my childhood.

  • Why is the only white guy there a homosexual bag-pipe player? Whats up with that?

  • dude is fresh!

  • LOL! Fresh like rotten milk..........

  • Because most whites can't dance like a black does. ( I'm white )

  • My Mans With The White Shirt I Thought Head Was Goin 2 Come Off..LoL

  • im feelind you nappy doc i might be in las vegas now but detroit will always be my home

  • awesome video. dope song

  • Where did these times go??

Music and dancing is so boring now.

  • lmao Michael Jackson killed it @ 2:33

I can't believe ppl danced like this..& the clothing style was horrible..I was born in 89'..the 90s was a little bit better!

  • No mate, you gotta learn to look at things in context

of the time. Look back on things and they will inevitably look dated. Maybe in 20 years people will be slagging off the music from 2008!!. This was cutting edge in the 80s. Bands now all sound alike.

  • Detroit is looked at as a rough hard core city, but not from the looks of this video.

  • indeed

  • @ImS0amazing look at 3:03 what the hell!!!! lol

  • @spirit69warrior I don't know what kind of dance she's doing..or thinks she's doing...A mess!!! lol

  • @ImS0amazing LMAO if you ever see me at the club dancing like that I give you premission to shoot me lol

  • Damn. This takes me back. I was a senior in high school back in '89. Eventhough I left for college that summer, and haven't lived in the city since then, hearing REAL techno and house always brinigs my memories back to the D. Regardless of its problems, Detroit will ALWAYS be my home. It would be great to bring a show like this back. The Scene/New Dance Show were certainly a Detroit staples. Aseagris, thanks for posting this man.

  • someone please post the 12 inch basstronic instrumental.

  • Is that Captain Hook at 2:30? Good stuff!

  • That white dude was gettin it! LOL

  • My god so much good vides on this channel. Techno and house for LIFE!!! Take me back to the late 80's/early 90's

  • I had forgot all about that guy at 2.41. Memories!

  • Awesome! Miss the New Dance Show & the music!

  • Go Detroit! It's your birthday. It's your birthday! It's your birthday!

  • Caramba!!!

  • Love it! Go Detroit!

  • You're damn right that's Matthew in the "dance line"...I was also very fond of the assymetrical, Salt-N-Pepa harstyle he had back in the day... You are going to the 2nd annual tribute party in Detroit on 4/21, right???

  • Is that Matthew at 2:30 going down the aisle??? If so, does anyone have any footage when he had that sharp bob haircut that he was known for? I heard he was a hair stylist. Thanks for these clips. I lived for The Scene and The New Dance Show when I was kid. I was glued to channel 62 at 6:00PM every day after school and on Saturday's :-)

  • Yea, 1. people used to actually dance back then, then, 2. It was to house music...

  • Where is the Count???

  • This was when blacks accepted and created electronic music, we need to get back on this level and have fun again not corporate driven crap.

  • ...I totally agree. Electro-Techno was Detroit PERIOD!

  • Please post more if you got em. I love it.

  • Thank you SO Much for posting!

  • lmfaooo @ da cloths

    CLASSIC!

  • I USED TO LOVE THIS SONG! I wasn't in elementary school yet, and my mother was mixing the HELL out of this on Radio. lol

  • Help - what is the name of this song??? I totally forgot!

  • "Basstronic," by the "Unknown DJ."

  • @ChangeWillCome
