  • It's still not as cool as my Brompton =D

  • Man.. that's one seriously beat up road that need repaving.

  • '

    yes free bike parking lot,,,

no no need it to pay bike parking lot at all

  • how does it compare to Kansi bike? It almost half the prize yet simle folding?

  • This looks good, but please understand that a number of additional steps would be required to make the bike safe to ride. In general Bike Friday's take a fairly elaborate set-up in order to fold and unfold. A simpler system can be found on a Dahon, Brompton, or Montague (if you prefer full size wheels).

  • neat!

  • That really was a cool 17 seconds of folding bike video. I know some folks may not see the need for a quick fold, but I really like the fact that you can roll the bike once it is folded. I have to just carry mine or lean over and try to roll it on one of the wheels, which never works so well.

  • expensive? last time i checked a triple heart bypass is north of $60,000

a parking driveway and structure costs $25,000~$40,000 and there's one made for every car that rolls off the assembly line.

how much does it cost 'us' to fix the never ending potholes ??

don't tell me "the government" is paying for that LOL !!

  • Rob English (holds the world hour record still I think) designed the Speeding Tikit and was racing it last year at the HPV races in Portland OR. He could flick that thing open and closed like a switchblade, and it definitely is NOT rickety. I don't have one but ride with quite a few people that use those full time rather than a regular road bike and they keep up just fine.

  • who would pay for them, there so expensive

  • I haven't used a bike in so long I forgot that you have to push the bike first before pedaling lol

  • WOW the fastest I've ever seen!

  • bought a dahon, bike friday, sold both and now own a Brompton

worth every penny and the price keeps going up every year what an investment !

  • Do you want to see THE WORLD'S SIMPLEST TRANSMISSION for Bicycle?

Watch : UNIQUE BIKE CRANK ( 2- SPEED)

  • That's pretty amazing!

  • i want one but it looks expensive.. the guy in the vid didnt even have a helmet, i dont know if its because hes a rebel or he spent all the money on the bike.. but i still want one

  • I just bought one of these. Amazing bikes! To be fair, the guy in this video is REAL good at folding/unfolding it, but this is real.

  • I had a Dahon. The frame cracked full through at the seat post after 4 years. Only commuting stress -- 3 miles each way for 6 months of the year. Very disappointing. I'm getting a Bike Friday which I'm hoping will last longer. The rolling fold is very useful as is the fold speed.

  • That is great! But I reckon my S2L Brompton folds into a smaller package. Not a major consideration for most people, but a bloody big deal if you take them on trains as I do.

  • I suppose if the trains are very packed that must be true. Here in the SF Bay area, it is no problem to fit the tikit on any public transportation.

  • Just got one of these myself. Very handy. Since it is so convenient to have indoors and put in the car, I take it more places and ride it more often than I ever would a regular bike. And the gear range is really good for my needs. My work place is a facility on a fairly steep hill (20-30% incline), and the low gears are adequate for getting around in the hilly area as well.

  • can you even ride sitting down?

  • Very cool. I love my Brompton, but that's pretty neat.

  • lolz

  • Wow ... I have a Dahon I love, this seems even nicer. Is it a chain or belt drive? This is nice!

  • @themountainviewguy they have a belt drive tikit now (at least in prototype), but this video was before those existed.

  • rad.

  • Impressive!!

  • The Brompton is still more compact when folded and doesn't take much longer to fold 10 secs or so. Besides, as long as folding is not overly long winded, what's a few seconds?

  • The Brompton is definitely #1 for compactness. No contest there.

As far as why a speedy fold is useful, a few tens of seconds difference may not seem to matter at first, but when you are folding and unfolding twice every day for your commute, you really start to appreciate a no-hassle fold. Also, not having to re-adjust your seat after every fold is a bonus, AND the Tikit uses all standard bicycle parts while the Brompton has proprietary parts, so the Tikit is more versatile and easy to fix

  • > No contest there.

    Check the Mobiky.

  • Isn't there any fasteners in bike? It would crash in any second if u ride like the video shows.

  • nope! That's why it's a well designed bike. Google Tikit and Bike Friday to find out exactly how it works.

  • ownage!

  • I consider it a cheap car. Haven't had a car for 15 years.

  • Yeah, it's not cheap. But it ain't made in China, either. And it rides better than other folding bikes--you can do 40 miles a day without problems.

They're lightweight--about 23 pounds. The "Speeding Tikit" model weighs 18 pounds, I think.

It packs into a Samsonite suitcase for travel, then the suitcase turns into a bike trailer. Ride right from the airport!

  • WOW!!I like this bike!!!so cooooool!! BUT It cost much~@@

  • Really?

I saw a good price like $134, is that waht you thought?

  • really? Is it only cost $134? It doesn't sound expensive to me. I saw the price on catalogue more highererer than the price you say.

I really hope I can get one when I fly to USA next year :D

  • Nah, these things cost ~$1300. Although you can find cheap folding bikes made in china for ~$130. They just won't be of the same quality as Bike Fridays or Bromptons.

  • @dgalvan123

$1300 ?!? That's insane for a folding bicycle! I can simply drive my car for a year for that amount of money. That's the problem with all these gimmicks they come up with for alternative transportation - they are less convenient to use and just as expensive.

  • @CaneFu You can't pack your car into an airplane suitcase.

  • @billyoneal

Nope, but for a lot less than $1300 I can rent a very nice new car when I get to my destination and not have to put up with pedaling everywhere.

  • @CaneFu You might not get this, but some people actually LIKE pedaling a bike!

  • @cbgthree

    who cares

  • what is the weight of that thing ?

  • Thats pretty cool. Kinda makes me wish I bought one of these instead of my road warrior 3. I wonder how far you can ride it and still be comfortable.

  • No quick-release to secure ?!

  • cool. excelente bicicleta plegable

  • It is awesome, but why is this marked as spam?

  • Man, that's awesome. But when I check out the price, it's way expensive. The tikit model has the minimum price of $1000.

  • Great demonstration what does it cost and what is its capacity?

  • I still think a-bike is the best folding bike. It's a little pricy but it's worth the money. They've all sold out but they're coming out with new model within few months.

  • OMG ! It's a transformer !

  • The mezzo transforms a little more, but I like this bike (tikit) better.

  • Well, there are fasteners, but not quick release. You have to actually loosen a screw to adjust the height of the seat and/or the handlebars.

  • ALMOST perfect video. right at the end you stumble, which kills it!!

  • I have a Pocket Rocket and it rides like a full size bike. Very sturdy. The best single-person bike I own. I would be very surprised if Bike Friday put out a product that did not meet their high standards for construction and rideability. It'll go as fast as you can pedal.

  • I like that.

    Yves

  • LOL like awesome OMG LOL so way cool awesome way cute jeez LOL awsome...

Sorry chaps, just practising my American...

  • LOL classic. Yeah. These bikes aint as costly as ppl think and honestly. ME ? getting sick of hacking about on my mtn bike. Too heavy man !

  • looks... rickety, like it could just break while riding.

  • How many gallons to the mile?

  • Awesome!

  • coolest bike : )

  • I wonder how fast it goes... I think I'd rather stick with my recumbent. Got it to 52mph down a hill, avg 25 on the flats. Cars don't like to be passed by bikes :)

I have seen a folding recumbent design, too. Probably better.

  • given that it's a new design and apparently clipless, I'd fathom it's not very sturdy.

  • I want one real bad.

How fast does it go? and how sturdy do you say it is?

  • dont these cost like 3000$?

  • They cost more like $1200

  • the Model T costs like $1,000 with nothing extra on it.

  • lol ok =]

    that was kool

  • That rox! I'd love to see someone late for a train race down the platform on two wheels as the train doors start to close, fold the Tikit in a flash, then hop onboard. That's real life applicability
