@Shloota If course he isn't. He's a relatable human being; the common man doing uncommon things. Jimmie, as skilled as he is, is too vanilla; fans either hate him or have apathy for him. But he and Kyle had parents that could afford to buy a go-kart and get him into racing at a very young age (like Jeff Gordon's stepdad); Ward didn't.
Don't look down your nose at Southern boys like Ward Burton.
No matter if your favorite driver was Sterling Marlin, Jeff Gordon, Kevin Harvick, Whoever... No body in the crowd booed Ward's win. Sentimental favorite winning. Great sight to see.
i almost forgot that this was when they raced back to the yellow. either im getting old or brian frances plan to rid us of nascars good ol days are slowly working.
great finish. You would think after all the times Dale Earnhardt lost the 500 on the last lap the commentators would have waited until he got to the line before they called a winner.
wat about ward burton? he led the most laps in the 500 in 2001 with 53 but got in the big one. he avoided the big one on lap 149 in this race. thts the same car he led the most laps in back in 01. thts pretty cool
Was frustrated Jeff Gordon didn't win but could not be happier for a great guy like Ward Burton.

Wanted Elliott to win, but Ward is good, better than a Jimmie Johnson or a Kyle Busch any day.

@Bru1nsFOX2433 Ward Burton isn't a scab on Jimmie Johnson or Kyle Busch's ass.

Certainly one of the wildest Daytona 500s in the history of this great race.
