i agree..this is a very trippy song.In fact the whole album is amazing.Never given the credit for the production and ambition of this record. i love the first album but I love this record equally. very under-rated. i wish there had been a third album on the heels of this one. Stranger on a train came years later I believe.
I've only heard this song once, but I've never forgotten it. If the Left Banke only made this and Pretty Ballerina, they would've still been an incredible group. Thank goodness for YouTube because I didn't think I'd ever find this great song again.
One of the greatest headphone trips ever recorded. Listen to how the flute, oboe and clarinet play the same four descending notes in rapid succession at 1:28 and 1:39. Unfortunately, there probably never will come another time when people put this much care into production and arrangements.
great video!!!!

That was a young Steven Tallarico (soon to be known as Steven Tyler the lead singer of Aerosmith) on back-up vocals...

Never hear any songs today use so many instruments as The Left Bank and many other 60's and 70's era bands.

The surprise is that these guys were so young and yet sang of things that could be turned over and over and always be perceived afresh!
