  • co za widok !

  • Magnificent!!!

  • sooo crazy how the water is just so thick and flowing so fast and heavy all in one concentrated stream and just cuts off to pure dry land right where the guard rail is like a clean line

  • oh my ... the amount of the wather :-O

  • Gosh look at the amount of water coming over Vernal! I just hiked up there in early September, with about 1/3 of the amount of water you see in this video coming over the falls and even that late in the year its still a ton of water. Incredible footage!

  • To think three dumbasses decided it was smart to jump into this motherfucker to take pictures....Not being cruel just stating facts. DON'T JUMP INTO WATERFALLS!! It doesn't take a degree in rocket science to realize how DUMB that is.

  • Nicely done video!

  • i remember i hiked up there in june scary as fuck!! the step are slippery narrow and wet also crowded. i thought i was gonna die.

  • I was here in 1972-73-74 and was a lot calmer. Amazing beautiful a worthwhile climb for the able bodies.

  • i would be too scared to even go 10 feet from the railing let alone climb in!

  • Great video!

  • @Helotes420 gay is whack

  • Water is so much more powerful than it looks. Water 1 foot deep can knock you over. This falls looks like death though. No signs needed.

  • @BladeJones Exactly, the river speaks its own language and anybody is a fool to disobey it.

  • I think most people can think of a time they did something that could have resulted much worse than it did, but since it doesn't make the news, and doesn't kill them, they think they're smart.

And please remember, these young adults are long gone, but they have families who are grieving and seeing your negative comments about how idiotic you think their child, brother, sister, cousin, etc.. was probably is not helping.

  • Wow. Watched this last night and two things came to mind: 1) wow, this is really breathtaking. Glad you had the foresight to know this would be great footage to share, so thank you, And 2) those poor, poor souls. The view of the drop made me lose my breath, and I was watching on my measly iPhone in the comfort of my own home, safe and sound.

To the people calling them stupid or idiots: People do things all the time that don't make sense and get away with... I think most people can think of a

  • In my previous comment I meant to type

"cross sectional area" not "mass",thus the

force against you equals the cross sectional

area of the water times the square of the velocity.

When the flow rate is high it is a common human

mistake to underestimate the velocity of the water.

The speed is not obvious unless you can see

objects in the water. As the volume continues to rise,

so does the velocity. As velocity doubles, the force

against you is 4 times as much.

  • Very nice video of the falls. Thanks for sharing

  • beautiful place GOD gave us all the power to make our own decesions . and some time you only get 1 chance to make the right 1....may god bless the familys of the kids that were taken from them so young in life. child of god...

  • ...and 3 geniuses 'waded' in expecting to have fun in this??

  • Obviously, high flow rates create more danger

because more water is pushing against you. Also,

as the volume of water going down a channel

increases,so does the velocity. And the force of the

water against you is equal to the mass of the water

times the square of the velocity. Thus,as velocity

doubles, the force against you is 4 times as much.

As such, when water flow is up exercise much

caution to avoid getting into a dangerous situation.

  • @Helotes420 . that's great, bigotry and hate from the people who lecture others on tolerance.....you're an asshole.

  • The right lyrics are:

Don't go jumping waterfalls, please keep to the lake

People who jump waterfalls, sometimes can make mistakes - Paul McCartney

  • I doubt they'll ever find their bodies. Between the power of that water and all the rocks...

I read they never found the body of the hiker that fell over a few years ago.

Very dangerous, yet awesome mother nature!

  • What all in the helI would poses a person to climb over that fence? Let alone dangle his 6 year old female child over the rushing waters to the point she cries out of abject fear? Investigate this man!

  • @moviesontheweb Jesus makes you stupid.

  • @anachro1

I don't think Jesus has anything to do with it. I believe in Jesus. I'm not going to do anything asinine. You can take an idiot out of his religion and make him a secularist, and he'll still be an idiot. I know plenty of well educated secularists, but most shouldn't be out and about by themselves.

  • There is no railing or barrier to prevent the people from falling over? Those people in the video look way too near the water. Why would people get so close, and why would park officials not put a barrier up? crazy

  • @adidasmylife

There is a railing. See it at 2:15.

  • That's sad about the hikers. I wonder what they were thinking? That looks super dangerous.....

  • @kuwinsitall

I don't believe "thinking" had anything to do with it.

  • @moviesontheweb

Yep. Best to step back and consider things a bit sometimes.

  • @jefffinsd - Yes, 4 is a little young to take the Mist Trail. From the bridge, John Muir it is a mile longer and a significant elevation climb as you end up several hundred feet above the falls, no fun for the young ones. Another three years or so and a little caution, and the Mist Trail will be the trip of a lifetime for your whole family. If you make it up Mist, then go back via the viewpoint above. After lunch and a good rest, of course.

  • @nocknock57 Thanks for the tips. We all accomplished the Mist Trail last year. I should post the video. My youngest was actually 4 1/2, but he's very active. He lagged behind with my wife while I took my older two. I actually took my oldest up the Mist Trail to the top of Vernal Falls on a baby backpack when he was 2. I remember him not enjoying the drops of water as we went up the side of the rock face as you near the summit. I also took him up lower Yosemite falls trail the same trip.

  • We were in the valley when the people fell over the edge and had just been in that exact spot two days before. Its all my wife and I have been talking about for two days now.

  • Breathtakingly beautiful those falls are. Poor victims and families and eye-witnesses. Those poor young people made a bad decision, everyone does more than once in a lifetime. I have made some as well, and perhaps will in the future, who knows. What a tragedy.

  • @jefffinsd -The vantage point is on the John Muir Trail. Just beyond the top of Vernal is a trail that climbs .6 miles and catches the JM trail. You walk up to a ledge that has an amazing view of Vernal. The trail is usually taken by people who don't want to deal with the Mist Trail. It is the 'long way around' to get to the top of Vernal. It comes out right next to the bridge that overlooks Vernal.

  • @nocknock57 -Thanks, next time I do the hike, I'll have to check that out. We made it the bridge that overlooks Vernal, but didn't hike up to it. We had three young children, ages 4, 6 and 8 with us and that was enough for us. Even last year the water was quite powerful, you could just see for strength of the current in the middle of river. How anyone could even think of going deeper than one toe is beyond me - RIP guys.

  • I kayaked over that fall back in 2005. What a rush!

  • @khunopie LOL, yeah right. You wouldn't around to type that if you had!

  • @khunopie:

I hope you don't expect us to swallow that one hook. line and sinker.

  • The railings are there for a very GOOD reason. Common sense is ruled out if you ignore the rails. Very sad.

  • I'm going to go out on a limb here and say that they didn't survive.

Given this situation--the small ledge beyond the fence, the sheer drop--why go further?

And how did all three perish--were they holding hands?

  • @ShunyamNiketana Oh. They entered the water up river??

  • @ShunyamNiketana they were assyrians, one of the people that passed away was a relative of mine. a distant one. its sad. so the situation was this. ninos and ramina, age 22 and 21, were hugging each other standing approximately 25 feet away from the falls. 5 or 6 people told them to get out, but they didnt listen. ramina was screaming. she slipped, and ninos grabbed her so he fell in with her. then hormiz went for ninos. he then fell in. it was sad, i am a part of their church, assyrian church.

  • @BullsFan23331 : Thank you for your explanation. I'm very sorry. Sometimes people do not grasp the power of nature. It's difficult for me to understand why sane people would defy a barrier, posted signs, and verbal warnings, especially when a 300 foot waterfall is only 25 feet away. I wonder if tourism somehow creates an illusion of fantasy or something, as if these waterfalls and cliffs--or wild animals--aren't real, are just spectacles to photograph.

  • @ShunyamNiketana no problem, and you are right. yes. but let me make a correction. hormiz was actually 22 years old and ninos was 27. hormiz was holding ramina when she slipped. he went after her, then NINOS went after hormiz. sorry about that. some people are saying that ninos is still alive though so...

  • @BullsFan23331

Why was Ramina there, if she was screaming and didn't wanna be there according to you? makes no sense. Just wondering. Where they Persian Assyrians by the way? Just wondering. Ramina Badal sounds Persian to me.

  • Damn! Nothing but rocks at the summit. Insane.

  • @anachro1 ...You're right.

For to me, to live is Christ, and to die is gain...having the desire to depart and be with Christ, for that is very much better" (Philip. 1:21-23).

  • @scroos1 Shove your Jesus up your ass.

  • @anachro1 youll pay one day.

  • If you DO go over...lose the shorts so you you can go out like you came in....naked and squalling! If you can't see that humor has a place here then you never need a flashlight in the dark! Of course a nightmarish tragedy is something to be smug and clever about! That is EXACTLY the time for it! Even a little late! Imagine Yourself going over the 360 ft. drop ....ride the few moments of life you have left you extreme thrill-seeker! Throw up your hands and enjoy the last few seconds!

  • @caddymech you arent funny. one of these was a relative of mine. its a sad thing. you dont live your life excited when you are falling 317 feet. idiot. these were young people who didnt deserve to die. they made a stupid mistake but it isnt funny

  • @BullsFan23331 I GUARANTEE all three were VERY excited as they realized they only had a few moments left to live. If one could remain calm enough not to panic, and realize that only a few seconds remain...THAT is EXACTLY the time to praise God and to enjoy the last few seconds of your physical existence here on Earth....instead of using those same last few seconds to scream in useless holy terror as your very faith is put to the ultimate test. You believe in God Go out with some style!

  • @caddymech Very excited? Are you sick? They had to have been absolutely stricken with terror.

  • cumberland blues!

  • I remember going to Yellowstone Falls a few years back and being a dumbass and trying to get down a little closer to the water off the trails. At one point I started to slip a little bit on the slope - I was never closer than 7-8 feet from the water, but if I hadn't caught myself I would be a goner like Tuesday's hikers. I guess my point is that even logical smart people can lose their head for a minute - stay on the damn trail, the closer vantage point isn't worth it.

  • @JPhillips17

Great point. I've read numerous posts referring to the 3 hikers who plunged to their deaths at Vernal as idiots, Darwin award winners, etc. This was a horrible accident. One fell, the second fell trying to rescue the first, and the third fell trying to save the other two. It is a nightmarish tragedy, not something to be smug and clever about. The self-satisfied detachment of many online posters is outrageous. I'm not humorless, but this isn't a situation where humor has a place.

  • @misterpoe24 Is it a horrible accident when you ignore the warning signs, common sense, public outcry, steel safety railing...not an ACCIDENT. A gamble lost, and lost three times. The first for thrills, daring, risk, the second two as laying down a life for a friend, to be commended in my opinion, but still fatal. Yes, AND humor does have a place near death, where it is NEEDED. Love the "don't go chasin' waterfalls" comment BTW, that was brilliant!

  • @caddymech umm no. the situation was that ramina, 21, and ninos, 22, were hugging each other 25 feet away from the falls. ramina, the girl, was screaming and didnt want to be there. 5 or 6 people were telling them to get out. they didnt listen. ramina then slipped, ninos went after her, and hormiz did after both, they all fell over. ramina wasnt seeking thrill. she was scared out of her mind. one of them was a distant relative of mine. it isnt funny. its said. but a stupid mistake nonetheless

  • @misterpoe24 I'll have to agree with caddymech and echo the sentiment that this was no accident. The three hikers put themselves in harm's way, out of choice and deliberate wanton behavior and paid for it with their lives. It is unfortunate, but common sense or lack thereof is the singular point we should draw from this incident. Live and learn some more.

  • Where did you take that video? I've done the hike several times, a year ago this week in fact, and don't remember that vantage point.

  • "Don't go chasing waterfalls. Please stick to the rivers and the streams that you're used to." -TLC

  • Awesome wit! I am in awe.....not worthy!

    @nikki2sox

  • @nikki2sox Rivers and LAKES, moron.

  • @fjawodfc Moron? Really? go jump off some falls, jerk.

  • some fools fell over this , what were they thinking lol

  • @loquat15 Don't go over the rails.

  • Thanks for sharing this video! I'll be there in a couple weeks :-)

  • Well done! If this was in mid-June, that's over 4000 cu/ft/sec going over the falls.

  • This, without a doubt, ranks in the top three videos of my all-time favorite waterfall. You captured the very essence of it. Great job!!

  • Spectacular video. My heart's racing a little just watching this.

  • @ifutureman Mine too but I almost Shit my pants looking at it. I thought I was gonna fall over the falls until I realized I was sitting on my computer chair!

  • Very nice video frop a great place
