I think this is a funny video of a curious kitty. I like cats, and I see no abuse of this playful kitty by the police officer. I commend the officer for his patience and his gentle "boot" of the (possibly annoying) kitty.
I love cats and hate cops, so when I say the cop did nothing wrong, you can know I mean it. If he had leaned down and done the same thing with his hand, nobody would even think of criticizing him.
In fact, this makes me actually like the police-- at least, this one! Particularly since a news article said that when this went viral, the cop was all worried and apologized to his boss that he kicked the cat.
Anyone who suggests the officer abused the cat is silly. He was incredibly patient, even gentle (especially when it was climbing all over him), and merely lifted the cat with his foot to toss him out of the way as the contact was ending--gently. The cat barely leaves the ground and goes just a few feet--and then keeps coming back for more. As a cat owner, I think anyone who views this video and thinks that the officer did anything even the least bit inappropriate is being ridiculous.
Not abuse. Just moving the cat with his foot. If the cat really thought the officer was trying to hurt it, it would not have come back to climb on him again and again.
he didnt kick the cat and was not hurting it he was lifting it with his boot and throwing it off him the cat is fine its still trying to play with him afterwards
After watching the supposed "kicks" numerous times, it's clear to me that the cop was trying to flick the cat away from the vehicle he had pulled over and was doing so as gently as possible. In other words, he was doing what he thought was necessary to avoid injury to the cat once the vehicles began moving again.
I don't condone abuse of any animal and would certainly say so if I saw this to be abuse...especially by a cop.

the officer first kicks the cat, then drops him off of him and does that a second time and then keeps kicking the cat.. Wow can you say animal abuse, if that was my cat i would have done something.. weather your a policeman or not.. you dont mess with my animals!!
Seriously, what the cop did was not even close to abusive. Like summer said, it's a "cat sweep." As a cat owner I can assure you that when it is necessary, cats takes no offense to it at all. It seems to be more of a game to them than anything else.

I have a few cats if you read my comment, But im not going to sit her over the internet talking if its abuse or not, where i am and people saw this it would be considered abuse.. if you watch the video fully yu see the cats body twist.. this is harmful for any animal..
Clearly that's not a kick, it's a well placed cat sweep. Anybody who owns a cat has more than likely perfected this maneuver. Usually performed when carrying a child or a laundry basket full of clothes and the cat wants to weave in and out of your legs as you're trying to walk. And obviously the cat was unaffected by it. He came back for more several times.
If its not a kick how do you say that toward the end you see the cat go flying.. I consider this defiantly a kick. Im sorry im not a cruel pet owner. i have a bunch of cats mostly wild ones, and i HAVE NEVER acted in this manner to any cat...
Okay, first of all, you probably meant to say definitely instead of defiantly. Learn to spell and people may take you a bit more serious. Secondly, your so called "wild" cats don't belong to you if they truly are wild. I hope your cats have been vaccinated because a cat contracting rabies or feline lukemia is far more cruel than anything that officer did to that cat. Rebuttal?
Very cute !!! I can't believe it didnt hurt with the claws as kitty climbed him LOL He was real sweet to the kitty! If I was the one getting the ticket I would have really been laughing at that scene
He didn't actually kick the kitty. However, I think he did hurt his FELINES! LOL!

It really isn't a kick at all...it's a flick...and cats are a lot more aggressive with each other than this cop...
