  • @joyjoyrayray Romans 10:13, “For whosoever shall call upon the name of the Lord shall be saved.” Anyone who calls him "My lord! my Savior!" is saved. BY FAITH! AMEN! For Piper to turn around and say: hey, you only go to church, you still love material stuff, your salvation is NOT eternal. Now that's saying that Jesus's work on the cross is not complete enough to save you. Your salvation still depends on YOU. That's rubbish. It dis-honor the blood of Jesus.

  • @joyjoyrayray i agree, its about jesus, I agree. But what piper is saying is that believers who do not see jesus as their ultimate desire, are NOT saved. Now to be honest, that's HERESY.

  • @joyjoyrayray What does Piper believes in? suffering for Jesus's sake?

Jesus is made POOR so that we may become RICH. By His stripes we are HEALED. SURELY He has bore our diseases. Piper missed the gospel by miles - if we do not look to Jesus for these things, we will only look to the world. Jesus wants to be the eternal servant. We give Him praise and live by faith. We live for Him. This msg Piper preaches will only bring more condemnation to others.

  • @eclecticderby don't love things. Love the LORD. Non of those thing matter in your eternity. He wants to be glorified. He wants us to focus on Him. We are on this earth to please the LORD, not for us to have stuff. Who do you think Jesus is??? He is the eternal God, the creator and sustainer of all things. He requires that we give all that we have, all that we are, and all that we do, to serve Him. I think you need to know who He is and who you are. Repent and believe in Jesus.

  • @brianjnunes Yes, exactly, focus on Jesus. How do you glorify Jesus? By going hungry? by being poor? Of course not. We are called to be heirs of Abraham, where his blessings ( very very physical things) are part of our inheritance. when we are blessed by Jesus, we glorify Him out of what He first give us. The way Piper preach is like God is a stringy man who wants your everything before he saves you. NO! He gives you salvation, that's why you give back out of revelation of his grace and love.

  • @brianjnunes You need to know who Jesus is. He is my abba, my father who gives me ALL good things and all the will to do things for him. For without him i can do nothing. How can Piper says that people who have PRAYED the sinner's prayer, truly believes in God, knows that God loves them, are maybe UNSAVED? when the words calls forth ALL who call his name is saved? Piper is wrong.

I have provided scriptures that says blessings is ours to take, that salvation is simply by faith, not works.

  • @eclecticderby i never said it was by works. but you probably have a distorted view of who Jesus really is. I would first say to watch this watch?v=5JQOBMi4QS8

  • @brianjnunes No, the video you shown me: it's all about SELF. You must stop sin, you must say no to temptation, YOU must.... SO SELF CENTERED! We must be JESUS centered. my bible says: God HIMSELF took my infirmities. Jesus himself took our transgressions are them put on the cross. GOD himself will put the laws in my heart. My bible says I have the GIFT of righteousness. My bible says Jesus leave me his peace.. It's shocking how much the video focused on SELF - LOOK TO THE CROSS!

  • @eclecticderby it's not saying you must do these to be saved. It is a result of being truly converted. For those God foreknew he also predestined to be conformed to the image of his Son, that he might be the firstborn among many brothers and sisters.

If the LORD took everything from you, like He did Job, how would you respond?

  • @brianjnunes We are no longer under the law, like Job. we have the fruits of the spirit. peace, joy, and sound mind. Discipline not out of our own efforts but because of his grace. Not committing sexual sins not because we force ourselves to stop temptation, but because Jesus has ALREADY made our body TEMPLES for the holy spirit. The fundamental difference btw your faith and mine: i believe that holiness is a fruit born out of believing Him, you believe you must achieve it by your efforts.

  • @eclecticderby I don't believe anything is achieved by my efforts. God has changed my heart and i am no longer a slave to sin. It has no authority over me. And it is only by the power of the Spirit that I can turn from it. I don't see how you can feel what Piper is saying is a problem. He is saying that non-converted "christians" have not changed what is important to them. They still desire the same thing, but just have a different means of trying to aquire it.

  • @brianjnunes non-converted Christians.... i dont get it!!!!

  • @brianjnunes There is no such thing. Yes, if someone did not say the sinner's prayer, or said it in jest, then you are right. But the bible says clearly, if you believe in Christ, and knows he is your saviour, and believes in his finished work, called out his name, you are saved. What you do after that do not determine your position as the righteous believer.

  • @eclecticderby these people are every where. people who "claim" to be Christians but really are not. In Matthew 7:15-23 Jesus describes these people quite clearly.

  • @brianjnunes that's the problem with you: you still think God will take everything away from you. When the bible says, God even NUMBERED the hairs on our head. Read the new covenant: Hebrews 8: I will put my laws into their mind, and write them in their hearts: and I will be to them a God, and they shall be to me a people:... 12For I will be merciful to their unrighteousness, and their sins and their iniquities will I remember no more.

It's all about Him. not us. your video is shocking...

  • @eclecticderby God may take everything from you. If He needs to. He may allow you to suffer. If He needs you to. He does everything for the good of those that love him. He will break you if that is what it takes for you to be conformed to Christ. All these things we have we should count as loss compared to the worth of knowing Christ.

  • @brianjnunes God WILL not. All things, bad things, good things, will work together for OUR good. This idea that God may or may not, is so human. He is God, who said "For I will be merciful to their unrighteousness, and their sins and their iniquities will I remember no more." The whole essense of the NEW covernant speaks of forgiveness. paul reputed believers who still have sinful actions: Don't you know you are forever cleansed? Why still sin? know what you have and you shall live it out.

  • @brianjnunes Object lesson,: Jesus said this to a pharisee, 2 person, 1 owes the creditor 10 gold, another 1000 gold. When their debt is canceled, who will love the creditor more? The one who owes more. Jesus said - a person loves much because he is forgiven much. Do you know God's love is so much, he gives us salvation and all things FREELY? We will never need to worry bout what to wear and eat? with this revelation of his grace, we WILL love him more. he was made poor so we might be rich.

  • ok, for argument's sake, show me SCRIPTURE that says along the idea of - if you believe Jesus and turn to Jesus for your material stuff, and that inside your heart you still love material stuff (worldly stuff) then you are just a nominal christian - not truly saved.

I can quote off hand MANY verses that says clearly that faith in Jesus is all you need. Read romans 10 for yourself. Until John Piper can quote me scriptures in their entire context, he is certainly talking rubbish.

  • who died and made john Piper a policeman?

if we can't even turn to Jesus, then who can we go to? The world? What is wrong with those things we want? Jesus is our eternal giver. I can never out give God. We can only give what we receive, we can only love when we are loved. That's the gospel. This is pride - not wanting God to work in our lives.

Romans 8:32 Truly He who did not spare His own Son, but delivered Him up for us all, how shall He not with Him also freely give us all things?

  • Who the son sets free IS FREE INDEED. We are the righteousness of God in Christ. Righteousness means right with God. We ARE made right with God through Christ. Don't let your mind get in the way. God Bless!!!!!!! <3

  • @itsclassygal4u I agree with you saying that you must be born again. So you don't believe what Piper is saying here?

  • @ethankjfan Well, I don't know someone's heart. Neither does Piper. How can you tell a Christian that they could be going to hell? That doesn't make sense to me. "Christians who believe God loves them and are on their way to hell." NO. John 3:16. If you believe that God loves you through Jesus, how can you go to hell? Is there another way to get to heaven? NO. The only way to the father is through Jesus.

  • @itsclassygal4u I know we don't know someones heart, and neither does Piper. In this message, Piper is talking about the nominal Christian. Not for us to judge others, but for them to judge themselves. Because they themselves know that if they are a Christian or not. James 2:19, even the demons believe in God.

The reason I'm happy Piper and other pastors preach about nominal Christianity, is because I was saved through a sermon on this same sort of message. By David Nasser. Now I know how

  • @itsclassygal4u important it is to be serious about your faith, and not be a nominal Christian. :)

Yes, there is no other way to Heaven. Piper never said there was. Only Jesus Christ is the way to heaven.

  • @ethankjfan How can you be a nominal Christian if you believe God loves you?

Nominal means existing in only name.

If you believe God loves you, that's not a nominal Christian.

  • @itsclassygal4u I could be nominal and still believe God loves me. Just like the typical "Sunday Morning Christian". One that just goes to church, gives to church, believes God loves them, but has no life change other than that. If you don't have a desire for a life change, that's when you doubt (yourself) that you're a Christian or not. If it was you, you would know. Like I did.

  • @ethankjfan Yeah... but that doesn't mean they're not born again. We don't know their hearts. It's all about your perspective. If u know that you are saved and forgiven through Jesus Christ, that's a Christian.

People who just say they're a Christian but really don't believe, that's nominal. It's really about knowing who u are. Knowing that the spirit of God lives inside of u. If u don't know that, but gave ur life to Christ doesn't make them any less Christian. Just means they don't know.

  • @ethankjfan The Bible said we are to be transformed by the renewing of your mind. Many people who are born again, don't know that they are already made in the likeness of Christ, the only thing that has to change is their mind. We are already set free, and under grace, satan just tries to come in and make you think differently. We are righteous. The righteousness of God in Christ. Some don't know that. You can be born again and spend your whole life not knowing who u really are.

  • @ethankjfan If someone isn't born again, or even if they are, or don't know who they are, that's why we tell them. Not 'you're going to hell". That's not the gospel. That's not what Jesus taught. The gospel is Jesus died for us and set us free. Basically, John 3:16. If we go around pointing the finger back at them and their sin, that's not gonna get them saved. We can walk around telling our story and pointing at other people when we really should be telling Jesus' story. That's the gospel.

  • @itsclassygal4u I agree with you. I am not saying (or Piper is saying) that we need to go around telling other people if they are born again or not. You and God are the only ones who know if you're born again or not. If they are just a "Sunday Morning Christian", then that's when they should question themselves on if they're saved. That's all I'm saying. If your life doesn't change, then how do we know you're saved?

  • and through what He did. Don't get it twisted. God is God all by HIMSELF. God is pure LOVE and Jesus is the Perfect example of Love. He was God in the flesh, and through that we were reconciled with Him. Come on now.

  • spirit of God in me. The Holy Spirit, through Jesus Christ. The only way to the Father is through Him. If you're born again, you're already free from sin. It's a matter of your mind. Satan comes at us in our mind, because that's all he can do. When we aren't focused on God and focused on sin, satan knows we aren't a threat to all darkness. Because without God we are nothing. THAT'S LOVE and THAT'S the GOSPEL. We may be "naked" but we are made in the likeness of JESUS, because He lives in us.

  • to the cross. It wasn't until God placed sin upon Him, that He died. When He died, so did our old sinful selves. When you are born again you BELIEVE. John 3:16- who so ever BELIEVES shall NOT perish....

We are already made in the likeness of Christ, and in His image. God doesn't see the sin, He sees who we really are. Jesus is inside of us, we are JUSTIFIED BY JESUS. The One who knew no sin but was made to be sin. He fulfilled the law and took the punishment. Put life in us. I've got the

  • This is the kinda stuff people teach?????!!!! That's not what the gospel is meant for! Scaring people with Hell?? Gimme a break! Do you realize what happened to you when Jesus died? Almost as if we were restored back to original value. Adam and Eve in the beginning were naked, that was a sin, but they didn't know it. They were aware of their sin, they were only aware of who God was. Eve ate the apple, then so did Adam. That separated us from God. Then Jesus came along and He was beat and nailed

  • @soofly01 Why?

  • @soofly01 yes why is that?

  • @ethankjfan Because that is not JUST , what hes telling us is that weather im an athiest or a believer im going to go to hell if im not born again even though my time on here ive been helpful caring havent done anything bad but just because im not born again im going to burn and be tortured forever just like people like hilter because i wasnt born again......ARE YOU TELLING ME THATS JUST??????

  • @soofly01 Read Matthew 7:13. and yes that is just because who am I to question what is just in God's eyes?

  • @ethankjfan Who are you to say whats just ?? didnt god give us our morals, we knows whats wrong and whats right because of morality which was given to us by god, for example if your father or mother were believers but were not born again would u say its JUST for them to burn forever? Im sure you wouldent say that

  • @soofly01 Question, what do you mean by a believer but not born again? To be a believer in Christ, you have to be born again & have repented through the saving blood of Jesus Christ, correct?

And exactly what I'm saying. I cannot say what is just. God only knows what is just and who am I to question His judgement? I'm merely human, a creation. Not the Creator.

  • @ethankjfan OMG exactly!!! People don't understand what happens to us when we are born again.... and to be a Christian, you have to be born again. Christian is just a name for those in Christ. You can't be in Christ if you aren't born again.

  • thats be cause any outward change in your life comes from your thoughts

  • The difference between muslims and christians is that christians talk of what they think but muslims talk of whats in the scripture and nothing else!!

  • This guy has no idea of what is really going on...whether you are born-again, or not, there is no god and when you die, life is over... Oh, yeah, jesus is dead joke and there is nothing to fear...

  • @BoldestBeing Prove there is no God. Prove your outrageous statements.

  • @gradearawk actually, you have the burden of proof... you claim there is a god.... you need to show at least one piece of evidence for this joke that you live by... the whole set of lies taught by the church are the most perverted scam that ever was... the fact that will never change is that we have one life and when you die, life os over, so before you die, you need to live and forget the lies that are god..

  • @BoldestBeing Prove that George Washington was the first president of the US. Many people claim to only believe things that they can experience for themselves however, this is not really the case. Basically anything historical that you "know" you really only believe because someone told you, or you read it in a book, and there is proof as to the validity of the book. I believe that God exists because the Bible has been proven to be accurate, and because it says that there is a God.

  • @gradearawk the truth is that it is hard to conclusively "prove" anything; that word denotes convincing the skeptic of something so as to leave no reason for doubt in his mind. However, that said, one can argue from reasonable evidence that there is an overwhelmingly strong case for the existence of God and the resurrection of Christ. @BoldestBeing, I ask you to look into it. Look up a guy named William Lane Craig.

  • And if your his, he will keep you. And reveal himself to you. Its in Christ "doing things for us". That we see his healing power. "Once i was blind, but now i see." And we say.."hey, this is amazing! look what he's done.!" and as was intended, the gift points to the giver...and we want to know more about him. To understand him. Those who are his will remain. Those who are not will fall away. But come to Christ, for any reason. Because its only in him will you remain.

  • @ekimup you refer to god as "he". This suggests that you ve heard the voice of god and it had a man's voice. did the voice also have an accent? thanks for the response , cheers

  • @GRANTURISSIMUS i dont blame you for removing such drivel.

  • @jeremyshambles god is neither male nor female, he is spirit. on this earth we have males and females, but in heaven the bible says that there is no gender. the bible refers to god as a male/father figure because god has characteristics that make him similar to that of a good human father. god is strong, he is loving, he is merciful, he is just, he creates life etc. bible also refers to god as a sheperd for example.

  • @GRANTURISSIMUS was this at the same time HE SHE IT was making snakes and donkeys talk? or sanctioning slavery/genocide/human and animal sacrifice/ and infanticide? rhetorical question junior.....

  • @jeremyshambles either you are really angry at god who you think does not exist, or you are just a troll.

  • @GRANTURISSIMUS i would certainly expect you to resort to personal affronts on my character. the truth can often be bitter.

  • I just want to say. You come to Christ REGARDLESS OF YOUR MOTIVE. You cannot, come to God...for any "righteous" reason. ESPECIALLY...Prior to conversion. I hate preaching, that discourages people from coming to Jesus for ANY reason. Know this, not a soul here has come to Christ because of some righteous, pure, noble, dignifying reason within themselves. We ARE ALL IN NEED. Christ saves us. And supplies for us. Want money? GO TO CHRIST. Want marriage? GO TO CHRIST.

  • @ekimup The central message of Christianity is not 'go to Christ because you desire temporal things' ( like money or a good marriage, though those are not inherently 'bad' things, just misplaced motives.) The Gospel message is about going to Christ for an ETERNAL thing, namely, salvation from wrath to come. The message is 'go to Christ because you have broken God's righteous law by sinning against Him, the penalty for breaking that law is eternal wrath (because God is eternal), *contd next post*

  • @ekimup because God is loving and desires a covenant relationship with those He created, He sent Christ, who did not break God's righteous law, to take the wrath that you deserve on himself on the cross. So Jesus was the substitute for you in your place. If you believe that he died for you, God credits Jesus' righteousness to your sinful account, thus declaring you righteous in His sight for all eternity, making you born again, alive in Him. He gives you the gift of eternal life forever with him

  • @ekimup causing you to turn away from your sin with time and His help.' There's more I could say about the central message of Christianity, but in evangelism, it must be clear to the person to whom you are witnessing that the motive for coming to Christ is one of eternal significance. While temporal blessing will follow, because God loves to give good gifts to His children, they ought not to be the driving factor in deciding to follow Jesus. Just adding to the conversation, brother/sister.

  • Wow. True.

  • amazing!
