Its not about his voice, its about the group. He plays the guitar and acts as a comic foil, the straight man if you will. He plays the guitar (which wouldn't work if one of the other two did it) and rarely sings on his own anyway. His singing mostly involves harmony work which was one of the most important parts of the DAAS trio.
Despite what it appears, they were all equals in the group and wrote as a whole.

Rich seems to be the weakest singer of the three. He's still fabulous, Paul and Tim just seem to have stronger voices than Rich.
Hahaha, they're all hilarious though, the harmonies are to die for, I love it how they're all abusing each other then can just slip back into this perfect melody/harmony without missing a beat.
Paul and Rich are still fairly close, like they see each other a fair bit. They don't talk to Tim that much, they still like him, I think it's just because Paul and Rich live in a different state to Tim. They're all still mate though, like they don't hate each other or anything
