@510heart510 for your hair length you'll prob need 2-3 boxes but may work out cheaper to buy the salon size which will have more product inside. Plus depends on the thickness of your hair too.
is the amount of relaxer that comes in that kit enough for all of your hair? im gonna get my hair relaxed for the first time and i need to know if there's enough product in there. my hair length is about 3 inches shorter than where my elbow is. plz respond someone. =)
I so far like what she recommends but why now buy plastic caps instead of saran wrap. or better yet, grocery plastic bags works well to process conditioner.
I tried relaxing my hair once with an Olgovie can't spell it but, that product and it didn't work. I don't know what I did wrong but, I am wondering if there are products that would work on my hair. I am Caucasian and my hair is really thick and frizzy . I don't want my hair to break off. Do you have any ideas what would work?
@LivvieBaby12 Most cream relaxers are formulated for african-american hair, however, I know that the brand Rusk makes a relaxer that is WAY more suitable for Caucasian hair. Just remember, that relaxing is permanent, so in order for you to go back to your curls, you would have to wait for your hair to grow out of the relaxer. :-) Good luck!
Yes you are beautiful and so is your hair. I'm an ex-Stylist and watched your Vid cus I haven't given a Relaxer in a few years (though I use to do them weekly). So, THX for posting your cute Vid and helpful tips. Europa
Great video. I found a Company that offers Hair Stylists the best wholesale prices in the Country guaranteed for custom made human hair pieces and lace wigs. Cindycut.com 888-596-4247
Hey so I'm not sure if anyone has put this up or not because I haven't read all the comments, but the purple gloves are for people who are allergic to latex. I have to use them because I have a severe allergy to latex.
Thank you. Great tutorial. I wanted to relax my hair at home. I have watched many other tutorials about at home relaxing. This is what I was looking for.
Lye Relaxers Only Get The Hair Straighter. That is it. For Some of the Women who care more about having "Bone Straight" hair more than Protecting the their Scalps from potentially being Burned, Good Luck on the Male Pattern Baldness Thing. As for me, I will be 21 and I plan to Keep My Hair like my Grandmothers did. I don't plan to be one of those Old Ladies with the Wigs on to cover Male Pattern Balding ever. That is why I will only use No-Lye Relaxers. Oops,Gotta Go, my Boss pushed on my door.
@mochacreamdoll No women has used "no-lye" relaxers regularly for years without if leaving their hair in a dull disheaveled mess. Do u know of anyone whose hair has reached great lenghts because of the brilliant invention of the "no-lye" relaxer? U are only 21, u will NOT be able to maintain the healthiness of ur hair with those "no-lye" relaxers. If they are so much better & do the same thing as the "lye" all without ur scalp being on fire, why would the "lye" relaxer still be on the market?
Common Sense: The use of Lye Relaxers are Extremely Harsh on the Scalp. The process of Touching Up a Lye Relaxer Over and Over again, on the Scalp is more likely to cause a problem like burns and scabbing. There is no avoiding it, If you use a Lye Relaxer, sooner or later, you'll develop a Bald Spot somewhere, but with No-Lye Relaxers your scalp will never be Burned Bald Anywhere. You just have to maintain a proper Ph Balance of Moisture & Protein.
@mochacreamdoll When it comes to a Lye Relaxer u need 3 things. A healthy scalp, a skilled beautician, and a neutralizing shampoo. Lye is a strong chemical and it works fast, a competent beautician works just as fast and will be able to have that stuff on and off your hair in 15-18 minutes or less. He or She knows how to smooth using their hands and the relaxer to loosen the curl without pulling a comb through ur hair. I will settle for a few minutes of discomfort rather than destroy my hair.
@kimmie6209 i use a relaxer with the brand name :Dark and Lovely. I live in new zealand so i dont think we get much american made products. I have to go to an african beauty salon to get my relaxers. I hardly relax my hair aswell, so ideas on alternate products to care for my hair is appreciated. Would you suggest tresemme brands for relaxed hair? I want to dye my hair, is this safe aswell?
@peachmuffins42 Dark and Lovely is a box kit so stop using it immediately. I remember those box relaxers leaving my hair feeling rough and dull. U said that u go to the salon to get relaxer, do they use Dark and Lovely because I do not think that relaxers comes in "lye" form. The hair industry knows that the "no-lye" relaxer will eventually ruin ur hair and they do not care. They will continue to market it as safe and better for ur hair and rely on misinformed black women to buy it.
@kimmie6209 Ha Ha Ha....You Use Dark and Lovely? The Company that cut's so many corners that their gloves even fall apart? That is so 90's. I realize now that your problem is that you don't have access to all of the products that we have at our disposal here in the USA, so I understand. I'm not being Snotty now when I say that you should try shopping for your hair care products on Ebay, then you'll be able to find everything.
Fact: Beauty Shop Hair Stylists do not want Women to Relax their hair at home and have perpetuated the lies and misinformation about No-Lye Relaxers to Drum up Business. Duh.
To Touch Up a No-Lye Relaxer, Only the New Growth is Chemically Treated. When there is No Over-Lapping of the Product on the Previously Relaxed Hair, Then How The Hell is the Hair eventually supposed to get damaged when it is not being relaxed over and over?
@kimmie6209 thanks! OMYGOSH! i will stop immediately! my salon is not even a professional salon as in NZ we dont have many africans who liek to relax their hair. anyway, I will see if i can buy some on ebay. will definately do that! Thank you!
@peachmuffins42 I don't think Dark and Lovely makes "lye" relaxers so which relaxer is your salon using. I use to think of giving up relaxers until I made an absolute decision to hold the reins and take complete control of my haircare. I bring my own conditioning "lye" relaxer to the salon, because I want to know what is being put on my hair. They try different and new relaxers at the salons all the time and it may be something that is not good for my hair.
Mochacreamdoll is an ignorant light-skinned or wavy-hair female who feels that she has been blessed with "good hair" because it isn't nappy. Hence her username of "Mochacreamdoll". Anyone who has grown up in the black community is all too keen to this careless insulting frame of thought. Her hair may be able to withstand the drying effects of the no-lye because of her loose curl pattern which allows her strands to be saturated with oil, but for dry haired black girls do not touch that crap!
@kimmie6209 Garnier Fructis Triple Nutrition Shampoo & Conditioner, Fantasia IC 1-Minute Reconstructor, Deep Penetrating Cream Moisturizer, Leave-In Moisturizer & Olive Moisturizing Shine Serum & Heat Protector, Aphogee Pro Vitamin Leave In Conditioner, Hot Oil Treatments w/African Pride Olive Miracle, Honey, Molasses, Avocados, Eggs and Mayonnaise. Regardless of hair type, using these products will prevent anyone's hair from Drying Out, Being Damaged or even Breaking.
@kimmie6209 You are the Poster Child for Ignorant Bald Headed Women who do chemical treatments to their hair without following up with good hair care. Not once in any of your posts did you even attempt to explain what a good hair routine entails. Don't let my being Bi-Racial fool you. Yes, I do have loosly waved long hair, but every hair type is prone to breakage if not cared for. Also, I have quite a few Black Cousins who use the same products I do and have gotten great results and growth.
@mochacreamdoll It has been a long time since someone called me Bald Headed, & each time is was because of the incompetence of a stylist, my own unskillfull hands, or something that I believed that I read on a "box kit" or a bottle. My hair regimen is quite simple I research, I question, and I do what makes sense. Since I know nothing in a bottle or box can grow my hair I don't rely on all those products that you keep spouting off. I use what makes my hair feel good. You can learn a lot from me.
@kimmie6209 Why are you and your Co-Signer @peachmuffin42 even still on @LaurenMechelle's page? The both of you seem not to acknowledge the beautiful No-Lye relaxer results, even when the results are staring you right in the face. The two of you are such Afro Nazis not to understand that the Best Hair Care Tips do not always have to come from Kinky Haired Black Women. After watching this video, I can't even believe that @peachmuffin42 would even ask you for advice. What is this Blacks vs. Mixed?
@kimmie6209, I know that the truth hurts, like seeing @LaurenMechelle with such healthy hair counters all of your dumb statements about No-Lye Relaxers. It's odd that most of the Women who claim they don't like No-Lye Relaxers have never even used them on their own hair. 2nd hand 1/2 Truth Beauty Parlor Gossip is what you've been repeating. Good Hair is bad for business, so a lot of Hair Stylists are attempting to drum up business by discouraging the use of No-Lye Relaxers at Home.
@mochacreamdoll Whereas LaurenMechelle has beautiful hair, she is not really the best spokesperson on how Black Women should care for their hair, since most Black women do not have hair like her's. I would say that she has a very loose curl pattern mostly by biracial women. Her hair is naturally beautiful & healthy & the effects of the no-lye relaxer may not rear its ugly head yet, but if she keeps putting that drying chemical on her precious hair it will eventually become a disheveled mess.
@kimmie6209 Good Hair Care=Healthy Hair....Chealating Shampoo=No Calcium Build Up That fact blasts your arguement about No-Lye Relaxers Calcium Build Up being a Serious Problem. It's Not, However, a Damaged Scalp is. You are a Hypacrite to constantly burn your own scalp with Lye Relaxers, then to point the finger back at the Women protecting their scalps with No-Lye Relaxers. Your scalp is singing, Burn Baby Burn, Disco Inferno. You are the one who's hair is on Borrowed Time. lol
@mochacreamdoll You can drown your hair with Chealating Shampoo all u want, but No-lye relaxers under-process the hair, change its texture, and robs it of mositure. The manufacturers know this...and they don't care. They will just continue to market no-lye in a false light & take ur money. Many women, inculding the original poster, attest to this stating that it leaves thier hair looking dull and feeling dry. A lye relaxer my irritate ur scalp but irritating and damaging are 2 different things.
correction: It's odd that Women with Healthy Hair and Women with Damaged Hair never seem to agree on which products work best. If in doubt, always listen to the Women who have achieved their healthy hair goals, not the Women who have broken or damaged hair because there's nothing that they can tell you if already learned the Do's & Don'ts about maintaining and retaining long healthy hair.
@mochacreamdoll U my dear is the one with the Damaged Hair, or it will be soon if u keep using that no-lye relaxer. People think that my hair is natural, because they cannot believe that someone with a relaxer can have such long, full, healthy hair. I don't mind showing off my hair, I plan to post a video soon. Because of my research & hair success I feel a need to inform black women of the dangers of hair care products & it's manufacturers. Under my method every woman can have healthy hair.
@kimmie6209 What a Joke. Why are you such a Hater. You know that you are just Jealous and wish that your hair looked 1/2 as good. You Fat Troll, get off of your Fat Ass, for a change and get some fresh air for a change then maybe you'll come back to your senses. Once again, I do hot oil treatments, baggy deep penetrating moisturizer treatments, I shampoo & condition every 2-3 days, I co-wash, I do molasses, honey and egg protein treatments, add pro-vitamin leave ins, olive heat serums, etc.
@mochacreamdoll You are going to do have to do that and a lot more. I know you and other black women disagree with me but I'm going to stand by this one. Well I stand by everything I say because it is supported by "facts". But u and everyone u know need to run away from box kits. Ur hair may look fine now but in the long term they will leave ur hair so dull, dry, and brittle that u will have to start over. Lye relaxers result in more shinier healther hair u just need to know the facts.
Anyone with the Good Sense that God gave a Billy Goat wouldn't even attempt to counter my posts after reading how I spoil my Tresses. Your idea of long hair is obviously different from mine and I will bet that you pull your hair down to measure it. My hair is "Full" Lower BSL without tugging at it to pull it down for measuring and it will be mid back length before the end of the year. You are a Retard who learned to Write. Please Try to Read Carefully Before Responding You Fat Troll.
What part of No-Lye Relaxers being more gentle on the Scalp than Lye Relaxers are don't you understand? Years from now, you are 10-times more likely to have Bald Spots. I'll Bet that your part already looks like a Christmas Tree. You not once mentioned having a Healthy Hair Care Routine, you just keep spouting off and bashing No-Lye Relaxers. What a Joke, you don't even know how to take care of your shabby strands do you? People like you are a Waste of Time.
Can anyone tell me why i'm supposed to wash it once a week? I had my relaxer 2 days ago, and i cant leave my hair filthy when i can only wash it once a week...
@Channiej93 They tell u this based on the assumption that after women wash their hair they will stlye it by blow drying, hot curling, flat ironing, etc...which can wreck havoc on ur hair. But u can wash ur hair 2-3 times per week or more if after u wash it u condition, moisturize & put in a protective style. Make sure u are using a moisturizing shampoo. I wash my hair whenever I feel like it, after, I always pin it up or let it air dry wear it just like that. Once a month I may style with heat.
@meeha007 Have you tried the Pantene Beautiful Lengths breakagd defense line. Its the exact same as the Relaxed to Natural Breakage defense but it doesn't make my hair feel as brittle as the relaxed to natural did. I also love the Garnier, its the only shampoo line with sulfate that doesn't make my hair feel dry.
@BrownSugaLady86 I've been eyeing the beautiful lengths line, think I'm gonna pick up a few items this weekend when I do my touch up. I do use the breakage to strength shampoo/conditoiner. I don't like any of the Relaxed-Natural (in the brown bottle) Pantene products which is weird since it's geared towards AA women but for some reason it leaves my hair very dry.
@meeha007. I agree, I tried both the Relaxed and Natural, and the Beautiful Lengths, they are the exact same product, I compared the ingredients. I bought the entire line of the beautiful lengths and I LOVED the restorative masque in the small round container. I put it on over night or sometimes sit under the dryer for 30 minutes, its the best.
@peachmuffins42 No type of No-Lye relaxer is good for your hair. Chemist have found other ways to straighten the hair and calcium hydorxide and pottasium hydorxide are some of them and they WILL eventually ruin your hair. People complained so much about how strong the real lye (sodium hydroxide) was because they either had an unskillfull stylist or an unhealthy scalp due to bad haircare pratices. A good stylist will have that stuff on and off ur hair in 15 minutes and a healthy scalp won't burn.
@kimmie6209 ok, thanks for that. Do you have any specific suggestions on what i can use to straighten my hair? I will consider anything healthier. thanks!
@peachmuffins42 I don't straighten my hair that often, but when I do I don't like using a mosituring shampoo because they can weigh down the hair, nor do I put products on my hair after washing and conditioning because they will give the same effect. I like my hair to be light, airy, and bouncy when it is straightened with heat, therefore I will wash with a shampoo for normal hair, light conditioner, rinse, and maybe put a dime size of glosser on my hair. What type of relaxer do you use?
I live in the UK, I am looking like crazy for the Garnier product. OH and thanks, I followed your instruction to the T and I love my hair now. I was going to "Cowboys" hairdresser here, that don't know how to deal with mixed race hair. CHEERS MATE!!!!
@Amna312 1. Sure you can, I just really really like how the fructis makes my hair feel... I haven't found a substitute for it yet! 2. I relax every 3-4 weeks usually. 3. moisturize with a super moisturizing conditioner like Moroccan Oil or Fructis Triple Nutrition!
She is making a big mistake by using no-lye relaxers. Any type of chemical service that leaves your hair feeling dry and brittle (which she clearly states) is not good for your hair. Using a conditioner that makes it feel like butter is only temporary.
@kimmie6209 I totally disagree. I love my Dr. Miracle's Relaxer, have been using it for aprx. 3+years and I still have extremely long, healthy, thick and rapidly growing hair. I do deep conditioning pre-poos, wash, condition and air dry my hair 2x a week/every 3-days and it loves it like a plant. I also use a leave in moisturizer, pro-vitamin spray and a heat protecting serum. It gets expensive, but having "Fur-Like" hair just like she has in the video makes it worth it.
@mochacreamdoll I don't care how long u have been using it. Higher Power didn't make any type of hair capable of withstanding calcium build up & ur hair isn't any different. The calcium hydroxide WILL build up on ur hair & will not allow any nourishing products or any products to get past it. The manufacturers know this & they don't care. They are using their No-Lye tactic as a guise to make u think u are getting a better product because imcompetent stylist are not using lye relaxers correctly.
@kimmie6209 The "Higher Power?" Are you serious? You don't know what you are talking about to say that the calcium build up is even a issue, considering that I don't "Overlap" my relaxer. I only relax the new growth. The only damage that my hair has ever suffered is once when I a dye didn't take and I had to dye my hair twice in a 48-hour period, even then because of my healthy hair care, I managed to save my length and thickness.
@mochacreamdoll Yes Higher Power..U must always start at the beginning in order to fully understand something. Black people were not meant to have long hair..hair that is very curly naturally breaks unless it is altered. The calicum hydroxide that u are putting on ur hair builds up & lays on the top of ur hair preventing nourishing products to penetrate the hair whereas Sodium Hydroxide opens the cuticle allowing needed nourishing products to penetrate the hair leaving the hair soft & shiny.
@kimmie6209 I disagree as well... I never said anything about it feeling brittle, just dry. Once the fructis replenishes the moisture content in my hair, I don't use it again until the next time I relax. I love how relaxing makes my hair look and feel!
@LaurenMechelle You actually said that your hair feels really dry and like straw (which is britlle) after the relaxer. I get lye relaxers every 6-8 weeks and my hair never feels dry or like straw after the relaxer. And I will never put anything on my hair that will leave it feeling that way. People just do not understand that if the "no-lye relaxer is so much better and more efficient for your hair, then why is the "lye" relaxer still on the market? The makers of no-lye only want ur money.
@kimmie6209 I'll bet that you even believe that hair is Dead. Well, it's not. Hair is alive like a plant that is why it can absorb nutrients, conditioners and reconstructors. You need to learn more about the benefits of properly caring for your hair. Hair loves to eat foods like, avocado, bananas, mayonnaise, molasses, coffee, tea, eggs, etc. and actually feels stronger, softer and even more managable after using these items. You need to sit down and keep quiet, because you don't have a clue.
@mochacreamdoll I beleive that a head of healthy hair is strong & beautiful. I look at what can I do to make my hair strong & protect and nourish my hair. I want long hair & my hair is very curly so I got a relaxer which is a very strong chemical so what can I do to counteract that? Will dying my hair help it grow? Blow drying my hair? Flat ironing my hair help it grow? Rolling my hair? No they will not. I embrace things that grow my hair and eliminate things that do not grow my hair.
@kimmie6209 Also, I use a no-lye relaxer because I don't want to ever burn my scalp creating those bald spots that so many Older Black Women have, as well as, some of the younger women who seem to have Male Pattern Baldness from Hair Weaves. Lye Relaxers only make the hair straighter, but are much harsher on the scalp. I had "Good Hair" before I relaxed, so my concern is not getting my hair to be Bone Straight because I like my hair to be full and bouncy, not Brushed straight back with no style.
@mochacreamdoll I would rather have a little scalp discomfort and have healthy hair than have no scalp discomfort while my hair is being destroyed by a no-lye relaxer. That is a big price to pay. For a lye relaxer u simply need 2 things. A healthy scalp to begin with and most importantly a competent stylist. A good beautician can have that relaxer on and off ur hair in 15-18 minutes, does not comb it through, & uses a neutralizing shampoo. Sadly there are not many out there which is the problem.
@kimmie6209 Last Thing..Regarding Lye Relaxers, You said,"A Little Scalp Discomfort" lol. Damaging Your Scalp is Much Worse than a little Calcium Build up on the hair, especially when Chealating Shampoo removes calcium build up. Bald Spots that a Burned & Scabby Scalp can Cause can't be repaired. Duh. How do you even think? I'd advise you to do more research, but it's obvious that you can't understand what you read. Picture Books w/ Large Bold Print may be easier for you to understand.
@mochacreamdoll I must say that u sound extremely ignorant by saying that u have "Good Hair". Do u mean this because ur hair is not tightly curled or u are biracial? Here is a little common sense for u, Health Hair, whether it is nappy, straight, wavy, blonde, brown,ect..is "Good Hair". My hair started growing down my back because I took control over my hair. I wanted to know exactly what was being put on my hair so I brought my own products to the stylist, ect. Remember Healthy Hair=Good Hair.
@kimmie6209 Stop Making Things Up As You Go Along. Aren't You a Dude? Also, is there anyone on Youtube who has ever left you a nice comment. Your page looks like Afganistan or Iraq. LOL
@kimmie6209 You need to do a lot more research. Because for you to have argued your point about no-lye relaxers creating calcium build up problem without knowing that by simply washing with a chelating shampoo it eliminates it. Also, just washing your hair in the sink with tap water can also cause calcium build up, but with proper hair care knowledge, it can be easily be repaired. It's odd that Women with Short Hair & Women with Long Hair never seem to agree on which products work best. LOL
@mochacreamdoll All I have done is research which is why I wouldn't dare put a No-lye Relaxer on my precious hair. If I can get calcuim build up by washing my hair with tap water, you can bet that I am not going to help the destructive matter by putting calcium hydorxide on my hair. Now...if you think that I have short hair I hate to burst your bubble, but people are shocked that I have a relaxer because my hair is full and healthy and all they see are women damaged hair from lye and no-lye.
@anmllvr234 Nobody actually asked for your opinion. Some people, like me, have exactly two options because of thick hair. Those would be 1. Afro or 2. No afro. Get over it.
I call the purple gloves "Dr. Oz Gloves" because when he does something gross or messy, he breaks out the purple gloves! LOL Seems appropriate for applying a relaxer.
Is there an alternative to using that Garnier Fructis stuff? I've used Garnier before and I absolutely hated how dry it made my hair. What about ApHogee 2 min. re constructor? Or do I have to wait a week after to use that stuff? Thanks so much.
@eargoggles1 Did you try the Garnier 3 minute undo specifically? I haven't tried the Aphogee, or anything that I would recommend as a substitute… If you haven't tried the 3 minute undo, give it a go and see if it works or not… there have been other girls that tried it and loved it!
@MsAriel95 It's a permanent process, but any hair that grows after you've relaxed will be your natural texture, so you have to keep "touching up" to maintain one texture. If this is something you'd like to try, make sure you strand test the relaxer first - take a little piece of hair near the back of your head (where it won't be seen if the relaxer doesn't work correctly) and apply relaxer to it. Wash it out, dry it, and see if that's how you want your whole head to look.
@MsAriel95 Im middle eastern and hispanic hair is very closely related to ours. I used this Dr.Miracle kit today, and it took away 40-50% of the curls but my hair fell out like crazyyyy. Im lucky my hair is so thick and I had some to spare, otherwise I would have had bald spots and I only left it in for under 10 minutes. please be careful!!
I used the Garnier Fructis Triple Nutrition 3-Minute Undo Dryness Reversal Treatment after my touch-up with Vitale Olive Oil Relaxer and you were so right.
@IsaiahPhifer Definitely not.... Any irritated skin will absolutely start to burn first, even if you haven't left it on past the recommended time! Good tip!
@mizzstar21 By straightened, do you mean relaxed? I relax it every 4-6 weeks. I thinkmi used a lye-based relaxer once or twice before, but it was a longgggg time ago and I don't remember anything about the experience... Sorry =(
@HanaBeLovely Relaxers chemically change the structure of your hair, so there's a definite risk of damage if you don't use them properly. That said, my hair is in great shape... no hair loss, bald patches, thinning, or general damage that relaxers are associated with... It's all about technique!
Did you start self-relaxing once you started your hair journey? I'm thinking of trying it! Never thought I'd try it. I did a texturizer in my daughter's hair once and I remember thinking how much it felt like I was putting in a relaxer. I really want to try it and save myself some money. As long as I follow the time guidelines, I figure I should be okay. Thanks for the tips!
@candygirl2319 I've been relaxing my hair by myself for about 7 years, nad it's not difficult to do once you know how! If you try it, let me know how it goes!
@LaurenMechelle I tried it for the first time today! I'm so happy with myself!!! I used Mizani Butter Blend for Sensitive Scalp. Your tips worked out very, very well. One thing I did do though was coat my ends with Vaseline and oiled my scalp, as well. Thank Goodness b/c I was a first timer and really needed to do this. Next time I will use the sticks like you used. I now see why you use them. That rat tail comb was a beast. You were so on target about that Garnier conditioner. Worked wonders!
..... If you can give valuable feedback I would also want to buy the caruso rollers but wanted to double check before I do to see if you know it works well on permed, ethnic hair. Thanks! I appreciate your opinion because your hair comes out so amazing!
@RachelRaquela88 No problem! I absolutely love them, and my hair is relaxed... the curls come out great! You'd think the steam would make your hair frizzy, but as long as you don't oversteam the rollers, no frizz! I'd also recommend that you order from Amazon, because you can return them for free if you don't like them.
Hey Lauren! I was wondering what ethnicity are you? because your hair is amazing, but I am African American and not sure if my hair will come out the same as yours. My issues with doing my own perms is that eventually my edges gets frizzy and coarse quickly when it humid/wet, but always wanted them to stay smoothe.
@RachelRaquela88 Check out the FAQs section of my site for the ethnicity question, and shoot me a message about the perm issues, we'll try to figure out something that will work for you =)
I really really love your hair! It's so long and looks so nice and healthy! I'm trying to grow my hair but it's kind of stalled at shoulder length. :(
@MikiMakesMovies Thank you! I know what you mean, my hair does the same thing after it hits a certain length too... You can look into vitamins and diet to try and get it over the hump =)
I love your videos... but I was wondering if you put the 3 min reversal creme on your roots or just the ends? When I wash and condition I only put conditioner on the ends because my hair gets oily quick if I the conditioner gets on my roots, but since I'm relaxing should I put it on my roots?
@aasha3004 I put it all over my hair, and really concentrate on the places where the relaxer was... I understand what you're saying about conditioner leading to oily roots, but try the 3 minute undo after relaxing and see if it makes a difference for you... you can even shampoo it out afterwards if you're worried that it'll make you oily.
@510heart510 for your hair length you'll prob need 2-3 boxes but may work out cheaper to buy the salon size which will have more product inside. Plus depends on the thickness of your hair too.

I tried relaxing my hair once with an Olgovie can't spell it but, that product and it didn't work. I don't know what I did wrong but, I am wondering if there are products that would work on my hair. I am Caucasian and my hair is really thick and frizzy . I don't want my hair to break off. Do you have any ideas what would work?

does this only work for black people? becuase i am white and i still have reallly curly hair and i HATE it.

Oops,Gotta Go, my Boss pushed on my door.
mochacreamdoll 4 months ago
@mochacreamdoll No women has used "no-lye" relaxers regularly for years without if leaving their hair in a dull disheaveled mess. Do u know of anyone whose hair has reached great lenghts because of the brilliant invention of the "no-lye" relaxer? U are only 21, u will NOT be able to maintain the healthiness of ur hair with those "no-lye" relaxers. If they are so much better & do the same thing as the "lye" all without ur scalp being on fire, why would the "lye" relaxer still be on the market?
kimmie6209 4 months ago
Common Sense: The use of Lye Relaxers are Extremely Harsh on the Scalp. The process of Touching Up a Lye Relaxer Over and Over again, on the Scalp is more likely to cause a problem like burns and scabbing. There is no avoiding it, If you use a Lye Relaxer, sooner or later, you'll develop a Bald Spot somewhere, but with No-Lye Relaxers your scalp will never be Burned Bald Anywhere. You just have to maintain a proper Ph Balance of Moisture & Protein.
mochacreamdoll 4 months ago
@mochacreamdoll When it comes to a Lye Relaxer u need 3 things. A healthy scalp, a skilled beautician, and a neutralizing shampoo. Lye is a strong chemical and it works fast, a competent beautician works just as fast and will be able to have that stuff on and off your hair in 15-18 minutes or less. He or She knows how to smooth using their hands and the relaxer to loosen the curl without pulling a comb through ur hair. I will settle for a few minutes of discomfort rather than destroy my hair.
kimmie6209 4 months ago
@kimmie6209 i use a relaxer with the brand name :Dark and Lovely. I live in new zealand so i dont think we get much american made products. I have to go to an african beauty salon to get my relaxers. I hardly relax my hair aswell, so ideas on alternate products to care for my hair is appreciated. Would you suggest tresemme brands for relaxed hair? I want to dye my hair, is this safe aswell?
peachmuffins42 4 months ago
@peachmuffins42 Dark and Lovely is a box kit so stop using it immediately. I remember those box relaxers leaving my hair feeling rough and dull. U said that u go to the salon to get relaxer, do they use Dark and Lovely because I do not think that relaxers comes in "lye" form. The hair industry knows that the "no-lye" relaxer will eventually ruin ur hair and they do not care. They will continue to market it as safe and better for ur hair and rely on misinformed black women to buy it.
kimmie6209 4 months ago
@kimmie6209 Ha Ha Ha....You Use Dark and Lovely? The Company that cut's so many corners that their gloves even fall apart? That is so 90's. I realize now that your problem is that you don't have access to all of the products that we have at our disposal here in the USA, so I understand. I'm not being Snotty now when I say that you should try shopping for your hair care products on Ebay, then you'll be able to find everything.
mochacreamdoll 4 months ago
Fact: Beauty Shop Hair Stylists do not want Women to Relax their hair at home and have perpetuated the lies and misinformation about No-Lye Relaxers to Drum up Business. Duh.
To Touch Up a No-Lye Relaxer, Only the New Growth is Chemically Treated. When there is No Over-Lapping of the Product on the Previously Relaxed Hair, Then How The Hell is the Hair eventually supposed to get damaged when it is not being relaxed over and over?
mochacreamdoll 4 months ago
@kimmie6209 thanks! OMYGOSH! i will stop immediately! my salon is not even a professional salon as in NZ we dont have many africans who liek to relax their hair. anyway, I will see if i can buy some on ebay. will definately do that! Thank you!
peachmuffins42 4 months ago

Her hair may be able to withstand the drying effects of the no-lye because of her loose curl pattern which allows her strands to be saturated with oil, but for dry haired black girls do not touch that crap!
kimmie6209 4 months ago
@kimmie6209 Garnier Fructis Triple Nutrition Shampoo & Conditioner, Fantasia IC 1-Minute Reconstructor, Deep Penetrating Cream Moisturizer, Leave-In Moisturizer & Olive Moisturizing Shine Serum & Heat Protector, Aphogee Pro Vitamin Leave In Conditioner, Hot Oil Treatments w/African Pride Olive Miracle, Honey, Molasses, Avocados, Eggs and Mayonnaise. Regardless of hair type, using these products will prevent anyone's hair from Drying Out, Being Damaged or even Breaking.
mochacreamdoll 4 months ago
@kimmie6209 You are the Poster Child for Ignorant Bald Headed Women who do chemical treatments to their hair without following up with good hair care. Not once in any of your posts did you even attempt to explain what a good hair routine entails. Don't let my being Bi-Racial fool you. Yes, I do have loosly waved long hair, but every hair type is prone to breakage if not cared for. Also, I have quite a few Black Cousins who use the same products I do and have gotten great results and growth.
mochacreamdoll 4 months ago

Mixed?

@kimmie6209 Why are you double posting the same Dribble? Zzzz Zzzz Zzzz.......
mochacreamdoll 4 months ago
@kimmie6209, I know that the truth hurts, like seeing @LaurenMechelle with such healthy hair counters all of your dumb statements about No-Lye Relaxers. It's odd that most of the Women who claim they don't like No-Lye Relaxers have never even used them on their own hair. 2nd hand 1/2 Truth Beauty Parlor Gossip is what you've been repeating. Good Hair is bad for business, so a lot of Hair Stylists are attempting to drum up business by discouraging the use of No-Lye Relaxers at Home.
mochacreamdoll 4 months ago
@mochacreamdoll Whereas LaurenMechelle has beautiful hair, she is not really the best spokesperson on how Black Women should care for their hair, since most Black women do not have hair like her's. I would say that she has a very loose curl pattern mostly by biracial women. Her hair is naturally beautiful & healthy & the effects of the no-lye relaxer may not rear its ugly head yet, but if she keeps putting that drying chemical on her precious hair it will eventually become a disheveled mess.
kimmie6209 4 months ago
@kimmie6209 Good Hair Care=Healthy Hair....Chealating Shampoo=No Calcium Build Up That fact blasts your arguement about No-Lye Relaxers Calcium Build Up being a Serious Problem. It's Not, However, a Damaged Scalp is. You are a Hypacrite to constantly burn your own scalp with Lye Relaxers, then to point the finger back at the Women protecting their scalps with No-Lye Relaxers. Your scalp is singing, Burn Baby Burn, Disco Inferno. You are the one who's hair is on Borrowed Time. lol
mochacreamdoll 4 months ago

If in doubt, always listen to the Women who have achieved their healthy hair goals, not the Women who have broken or damaged hair because there's nothing that they can tell you if already learned the Do's & Don'ts about maintaining and retaining long healthy hair.
mochacreamdoll 4 months ago

Once again, I do hot oil treatments, baggy deep penetrating moisturizer treatments, I shampoo & condition every 2-3 days, I co-wash, I do molasses, honey and egg protein treatments, add pro-vitamin leave ins, olive heat serums, etc.
mochacreamdoll 4 months ago
@mochacreamdoll You are going to do have to do that and a lot more. I know you and other black women disagree with me but I'm going to stand by this one. Well I stand by everything I say because it is supported by "facts". But u and everyone u know need to run away from box kits. Ur hair may look fine now but in the long term they will leave ur hair so dull, dry, and brittle that u will have to start over. Lye relaxers result in more shinier healther hair u just need to know the facts.
kimmie6209 4 months ago
Anyone with the Good Sense that God gave a Billy Goat wouldn't even attempt to counter my posts after reading how I spoil my Tresses. Your idea of long hair is obviously different from mine and I will bet that you pull your hair down to measure it. My hair is "Full" Lower BSL without tugging at it to pull it down for measuring and it will be mid back length before the end of the year. You are a Retard who learned to Write. Please Try to Read Carefully Before Responding You Fat Troll.

I'll Bet that your part already looks like a Christmas Tree. You not once mentioned having a Healthy Hair Care Routine, you just keep spouting off and bashing No-Lye Relaxers. Can anyone tell me why i'm supposed to wash it once a week? I had my relaxer 2 days ago, and i cant leave my hair filthy when i can only wash it once a week...
Channiej93 4 months ago

BrownSugaLady86 4 months ago
@BrownSugaLady86 I've been eyeing the beautiful lengths line, think I'm gonna pick up a few items this weekend when I do my touch up. I do use the breakage to strength shampoo/conditoiner. I don't like any of the Relaxed-Natural (in the brown bottle) Pantene products which is weird since it's geared towards AA women but for some reason it leaves my hair very dry.
meeha007 4 months ago
@meeha007. I agree, I tried both the Relaxed and Natural, and the Beautiful Lengths, they are the exact same product, I compared the ingredients. I bought the entire line of the beautiful lengths and I LOVED the restorative masque in the small round container. I put it on over night or sometimes sit under the dryer for 30 minutes, its the best.

peachmuffins42 4 months ago
@peachmuffins42 I don't think I've ever tried that one... but I have tried other brands and they all worked well.
LaurenMechelle 4 months ago
@peachmuffins42 No type of No-Lye relaxer is good for your hair. Chemist have found other ways to straighten the hair and calcium hydorxide and pottasium hydorxide are some of them and they WILL eventually ruin your hair. People complained so much about how strong the real lye (sodium hydroxide) was because they either had an unskillfull stylist or an unhealthy scalp due to bad haircare pratices. A good stylist will have that stuff on and off ur hair in 15 minutes and a healthy scalp won't burn.
kimmie6209 4 months ago
@kimmie6209 ok, thanks for that. Do you have any specific suggestions on what i can use to straighten my hair? I will consider anything healthier. thanks!
peachmuffins42 4 months ago
@peachmuffins42 I don't straighten my hair that often, but when I do I don't like using a mosituring shampoo because they can weigh down the hair, nor do I put products on my hair after washing and conditioning because they will give the same effect. I like my hair to be light, airy, and bouncy when it is straightened with heat, therefore I will wash with a shampoo for normal hair, light conditioner, rinse, and maybe put a dime size of glosser on my hair. What type of relaxer do you use?

Amna312 5 months ago
@Amna312 1. Sure you can, I just really really like how the fructis makes my hair feel... I haven't found a substitute for it yet! 2. I relax every 3-4 weeks usually. 3. moisturize with a super moisturizing conditioner like Moroccan Oil or Fructis Triple Nutrition!
LaurenMechelle 4 months ago
She is making a big mistake by using no-lye relaxers. Any type of chemical service that leaves your hair feeling dry and brittle (which she clearly states) is not good for your hair. Using a conditioner that makes it feel like butter is only temporary.
kimmie6209 5 months ago
@kimmie6209 I totally disagree. I love my Dr. Miracle's Relaxer, have been using it for aprx. 3+years and I still have extremely long, healthy, thick and rapidly growing hair. I do deep conditioning pre-poos, wash, condition and air dry my hair 2x a week/every 3-days and it loves it like a plant. I also use a leave in moisturizer, pro-vitamin spray and a heat protecting serum. It gets expensive, but having "Fur-Like" hair just like she has in the video makes it worth it.
mochacreamdoll 5 months ago
@mochacreamdoll hahahah I never heard the term "fur-like" before! And I completely agree with you =)
LaurenMechelle 4 months ago
@mochacreamdoll I don't care how long u have been using it. Higher Power didn't make any type of hair capable of withstanding calcium build up & ur hair isn't any different. The calcium hydroxide WILL build up on ur hair & will not allow any nourishing products or any products to get past it. The manufacturers know this & they don't care. They are using their No-Lye tactic as a guise to make u think u are getting a better product because imcompetent stylist are not using lye relaxers correctly.
kimmie6209 4 months ago
@kimmie6209 The "Higher Power?" Are you serious? You don't know what you are talking about to say that the calcium build up is even a issue, considering that I don't "Overlap" my relaxer. I only relax the new growth. The only damage that my hair has ever suffered is once when I a dye didn't take and I had to dye my hair twice in a 48-hour period, even then because of my healthy hair care, I managed to save my length and thickness.
mochacreamdoll 4 months ago
@mochacreamdoll Yes Higher Power..U must always start at the beginning in order to fully understand something. Black people were not meant to have long hair..hair that is very curly naturally breaks unless it is altered. The calicum hydroxide that u are putting on ur hair builds up & lays on the top of ur hair preventing nourishing products to penetrate the hair whereas Sodium Hydroxide opens the cuticle allowing needed nourishing products to penetrate the hair leaving the hair soft & shiny.
kimmie6209 4 months ago
@kimmie6209 I totally disagree. I love my Dr. Miracle's Relaxer, have been using it for aprx. 3+years and I still have extremely long, healthy, thick and rapidly growing hair. I do deep conditioning pre-poos, wash, condition and air dry my hair 2x a week/every 3-days and it loves it like a plant. mochacreamdoll 5 months ago
@kimmie6209 I disagree as well... I never said anything about it feeling brittle, just dry. Once the fructis replenishes the moisture content in my hair, I don't use it again until the next time I relax. I love how relaxing makes my hair look and feel!
LaurenMechelle 4 months ago
@LaurenMechelle You actually said that your hair feels really dry and like straw (which is britlle) after the relaxer. I get lye relaxers every 6-8 weeks and my hair never feels dry or like straw after the relaxer. And I will never put anything on my hair that will leave it feeling that way. People just do not understand that if the "no-lye relaxer is so much better and more efficient for your hair, then why is the "lye" relaxer still on the market? The makers of no-lye only want ur money.
kimmie6209 4 months ago
@kimmie6209 I'll bet that you even believe that hair is Dead. Well, it's not. Hair is alive like a plant that is why it can absorb nutrients, conditioners and reconstructors. You need to learn more about the benefits of properly caring for your hair. Hair loves to eat foods like, avocado, bananas, mayonnaise, molasses, coffee, tea, eggs, etc. and actually feels stronger, softer and even more managable after using these items. You need to sit down and keep quiet, because you don't have a clue.
mochacreamdoll 4 months ago
@mochacreamdoll I beleive that a head of healthy hair is strong & beautiful. I look at what can I do to make my hair strong & protect and nourish my hair. I want long hair & my hair is very curly so I got a relaxer which is a very strong chemical so what can I do to counteract that? Will dying my hair help it grow? Blow drying my hair? Flat ironing my hair help it grow? Rolling my hair? No they will not. I embrace things that grow my hair and eliminate things that do not grow my hair.
kimmie6209 4 months ago
@kimmie6209 Also, I use a no-lye relaxer because I don't want to ever burn my scalp creating those bald spots that so many Older Black Women have, as well as, some of the younger women who seem to have Male Pattern Baldness from Hair Weaves. Lye Relaxers only make the hair straighter, but are much harsher on the scalp. I had "Good Hair" before I relaxed, so my concern is not getting my hair to be Bone Straight because I like my hair to be full and bouncy, not Brushed straight back with no style.
mochacreamdoll 4 months ago
@mochacreamdoll I would rather have a little scalp discomfort and have healthy hair than have no scalp discomfort while my hair is being destroyed by a no-lye relaxer. That is a big price to pay. For a lye relaxer u simply need 2 things. A healthy scalp to begin with and most importantly a competent stylist. A good beautician can have that relaxer on and off ur hair in 15-18 minutes, does not comb it through, & uses a neutralizing shampoo. Sadly there are not many out there which is the problem.
kimmie6209 4 months ago
@kimmie6209 Last Thing..Regarding Lye Relaxers, You said,"A Little Scalp Discomfort" lol. Damaging Your Scalp is Much Worse than a little Calcium Build up on the hair, especially when Chealating Shampoo removes calcium build up. Bald Spots that a Burned & Scabby Scalp can Cause can't be repaired. Duh. How do you even think? I'd advise you to do more research, but it's obvious that you can't understand what you read. Picture Books w/ Large Bold Print may be easier for you to understand.
mochacreamdoll 4 months ago
@mochacreamdoll I must say that u sound extremely ignorant by saying that u have "Good Hair". Do u mean this because ur hair is not tightly curled or u are biracial? Here is a little common sense for u, Health Hair, whether it is nappy, straight, wavy, blonde, brown,ect..is "Good Hair". My hair started growing down my back because I took control over my hair. I wanted to know exactly what was being put on my hair so I brought my own products to the stylist, ect. Remember Healthy Hair=Good Hair.
kimmie6209 4 months ago
@kimmie6209 Stop Making Things Up As You Go Along. Aren't You a Dude? Also, is there anyone on Youtube who has ever left you a nice comment. Your page looks like Afganistan or Iraq. LOL
mochacreamdoll 4 months ago
@kimmie6209 You need to do a lot more research. Because for you to have argued your point about no-lye relaxers creating calcium build up problem without knowing that by simply washing with a chelating shampoo it eliminates it. Also, just washing your hair in the sink with tap water can also cause calcium build up, but with proper hair care knowledge, it can be easily be repaired. It's odd that Women with Short Hair & Women with Long Hair never seem to agree on which products work best. LOL
mochacreamdoll 4 months ago
@mochacreamdoll All I have done is research which is why I wouldn't dare put a No-lye Relaxer on my precious hair. If I can get calcuim build up by washing my hair with tap water, you can bet that I am not going to help the destructive matter by putting calcium hydorxide on my hair. Now...if you think that I have short hair I hate to burst your bubble, but people are shocked that I have a relaxer because my hair is full and healthy and all they see are women damaged hair from lye and no-lye.

@Nikolexdoll411 I'm not sure I understand… broken up before break off? My hair hasn't broken off because of anything style-wise I do to it…

Is there an alternative to using that Garnier Fructis stuff? I've used Garnier before and I absolutely hated how dry it made my hair. What about ApHogee 2 min. re constructor? Or do I have to wait a week after to use that stuff? Thanks so much.
eargoggles1 7 months ago
@eargoggles1 Did you try the Garnier 3 minute undo specifically? I haven't tried the Aphogee, or anything that I would recommend as a substitute… If you haven't tried the 3 minute undo, give it a go and see if it works or not… there have been other girls that tried it and loved it!

Well im mexican so can i also do this on my hair?& how long does it last?
MsAriel95 7 months ago

I used the Garnier Fructis Triple Nutrition 3-Minute Undo Dryness Reversal Treatment after my touch-up with Vitale Olive Oil Relaxer and you were so right.

is your hair straightened? if so, how often do you do it? & have you ever used a lye relaxer? --sry for all these questions
mizzstar21 8 months ago
@mizzstar21 By straightened, do you mean relaxed? I relax it every 4-6 weeks. I thinkmi used a lye-based relaxer once or twice before, but it was a longgggg time ago and I don't remember anything about the experience... Sorry =(
LaurenMechelle 8 months ago
Does it damage your hair a lot? Im thinking of trying it. It looks like it doesnt really because your hair is beautiful but Im so nervous!
HanaBeLovely 8 months ago
@HanaBeLovely Relaxers chemically change the structure of your hair, so there's a definite risk of damage if you don't use them properly. That said, my hair is in great shape... no hair loss, bald patches, thinning, or general damage that relaxers are associated with... It's all about technique!

Omg you hair is so shiney and beautiful lol, I want it like that !

Thanks for the tips!
candygirl2319 9 months ago
@candygirl2319 I've been relaxing my hair by myself for about 7 years, nad it's not difficult to do once you know how! If you try it, let me know how it goes!
LaurenMechelle 9 months ago
@LaurenMechelle I tried it for the first time today! I'm so happy with myself!!! I used Mizani Butter Blend for Sensitive Scalp. Your tips worked out very, very well. One thing I did do though was coat my ends with Vaseline and oiled my scalp, as well. Thank Goodness b/c I was a first timer and really needed to do this. Next time I will use the sticks like you used. I now see why you use them. That rat tail comb was a beast. You were so on target about that Garnier conditioner. Worked wonders!

@candygirl2319 I'm SO happy to hear that you got good results! Congrats =)

..... If you can give valuable feedback I would also want to buy the caruso rollers but wanted to double check before I do to see if you know it works well on permed, ethnic hair. Thanks! I appreciate your opinion because your hair comes out so amazing!
RachelRaquela88 9 months ago
@RachelRaquela88 No problem! I absolutely love them, and my hair is relaxed... the curls come out great! You'd think the steam would make your hair frizzy, but as long as you don't oversteam the rollers, no frizz! I'd also recommend that you order from Amazon, because you can return them for free if you don't like them.
LaurenMechelle 9 months ago
Hey Lauren! I was wondering what ethnicity are you? because your hair is amazing, but I am African American and not sure if my hair will come out the same as yours. My issues with doing my own perms is that eventually my edges gets frizzy and coarse quickly when it humid/wet, but always wanted them to stay smoothe.
RachelRaquela88 9 months ago
@RachelRaquela88 Check out the FAQs section of my site for the ethnicity question, and shoot me a message about the perm issues, we'll try to figure out something that will work for you =)

MikiMakesMovies 10 months ago
@MikiMakesMovies Thank you! I know what you mean, my hair does the same thing after it hits a certain length too... You can look into vitamins and diet to try and get it over the hump =)
LaurenMechelle 10 months ago
I love your videos... but I was wondering if you put the 3 min reversal creme on your roots or just the ends? When I wash and condition I only put conditioner on the ends because my hair gets oily quick if I the conditioner gets on my roots, but since I'm relaxing should I put it on my roots?
aasha3004 10 months ago
@aasha3004 I put it all over my hair, and really concentrate on the places where the relaxer was... I understand what you're saying about conditioner leading to oily roots, but try the 3 minute undo after relaxing and see if it makes a difference for you... you can even shampoo it out afterwards if you're worried that it'll make you oily.
