  • Hassles is spelled wrong.

  • @tvnhd11 He is kind of eh... not good.

  • The video is shot in SD but is upconverted to widescreen HD. Check out WGRZ on Wikipedia and the link is listed on there. It talks about how SD is converted to an HD picture.

Now, it is not full HD like other news stations have. But it is pretty close.

  • This is not HD, its SD widescreen

  • Brian Williams voice overs... eh. To nassely.

  • Why is Brain Williams doing V/O work? Side job? Favor?

  • @tmisch64 It's becuase Tim Russert was originally going to do them, but he passed away, so Brian Williams did them instead in memory of him I assume.

  • This opening is done. Now that WGRZ started upconverting SD newscasts to widescreen HD on 2/17/10, the opening now is identical to KUSA with the red and blue.

  • oh wow, really? I hope someone in the Rochester market does this...

  • Jesus Christ....(the GANNET open)

  • The graphics (except the logo) look very much like WFMY's in Greensboro, NC. Must be a Gannett "thing".......

  • Ha Brian Williams. his voice is just perfect for this open

  • And for good measure, he could've also ended the show with, "This has been Channel 2 News at 6, with Scott Levin and Maryalice Demler. Channel 2 News at 6 is a presentation of WGRZ-TV, in Buffalo, New York, owned and operated by Gannett Multimedia Entertainment, Inc. I'm Brian Williams."

Hey, Don Pardo did just that at the end of WNBC's "Live at Five", so why not have Brian do the same?

  • They WOULD have had Tim Russert do the V/Os, but unfortunately, things happened. As a favor to the local affiliate, a tribute of sorts, Brian Williams did V/Os for WGRZ.

  • ...Jesus Christ

  • This is more than WGRZ's local answer to Walter Cronkite opening for Katie Couric.

This is the Michael Douglas for Buffalo, seeing that Douglas opens for Brian Williams of NBC News

  • Yep. That's Brian Williams.

  • Don't tell me it's Brian Williams from "NBC Nightly News" doing this open!
