Why does he say "Entirely unnoticed?" I see them all the time at my house. One crawled across my pillow right before I was about to lay on it. I see them more often than any other kind of spider.
one time i was at my friend's house, and we were looking for lizards there, and i lifted up this rug and a brown recluse jumped on my hand, but at the same time a lizard (anole) jumped out and ate it... a lizard could have saved my life
If you have an infestation of Brown Recluse Spiders the best thing you can do is get some Scutigera Coleoptrata (House Centipedes). The scutigera eat brown recluses and any other pests, sometimes you have to set a monster to catch a monster, call it an uneasy alliance. Their bite is much preferable to the bite of a brown recluse. When all your pests are gone, they disappear to.
If it's bite is deadly, think about it if a ninja were to perhaps get a hold of this spider and milk it's venom on a kunai or dart. That ninja would get a gold belt for being the deadliest ninja. LOL, but seriously...stay away brown spider, or you are going to end up like the other burnt spiders in the movie, Arachnophobia.
@pmgodfrey They say people are rarely more than 10 feet from a spider at any given time. I buy (on ebay) praying mantis egg sacs, and spread them around the front of my house, hatch in about a week, they eat ANYTHING they can catch, even a scorpion. They come back every year. Give them a try, they are harmless. The ones I bought were from PA.
OMG I HAVE ONE CAUGHT IN A JAR ITS HUGE ! BUT IT DONT HAVE THE FIDDLE ON ITS BACK ? IT DOES THE SAME THING WITH ITS BUTT THOUGH . AND IT LOOKS IDENTICAL EXCEPT FOR THE FIDDLE . CAN MINE BE A BROWN RECLUsE OR A SIMILAR SPIDER ?
the brown recluse, ranges in color from light brown to almost black. Even when they're first born they still have a vary potent bite. I learned one thing that doesn't work to kill them is insect spray, it just makes them drunk and angry. Oh and one more fact, they can get as big as a half dollar in leg span.
I've killed 3 of these in my bedroom all this week. Idk where they came from or why they suddenly appeared in my room but they're huge and they look exactly like that: dark spot on the back, and the two things in front of it's face above the fangs..
Saw 2 of these in the kitchen at my grandparent's house the other day. Yuck. I don't ever see any at my house. Wouldn't care so much except that they're so poisonous.
Ugh, I had an incounter with a few the other week, one ran across my foot and the other was standing next to my hand, and then there are black widows all over the place, accidently managed to touch all 3 I came across, well the 3rd was being killed by ants, at least winters coming and there will be less outside, but hopefully not inside!
they say its very rare to have that kind of spider in Michigan....my dad got bit by a spider and he said it was white but had long legs kinda like a daddy long leg but he said it wasnt a daddy long leg.....sooo now im on this hunt to find out what kind of spider it was that bit him....
It wasn't a Daddy Long Leg that bit him. Their fangs are not long enough to puncture human skin. If they were able to bite humans it would be deadly. They are the only spider in North America that is more venomous than a Brown Recluse.
no, daddy longlegs do bite and they are not poisonous. And the brown recluse is not the most poisonous in North America, the most poisonous is the black widow.....
It's more like Brazilian banana spider (kills) > Sydney funnel web spider (kills)>Chilean recluse spider (dermonecrosis, can kill easily if poison reaches the blood stream) > black widow (deadly but often treatable)>Brown Recluse (dermonecrosis, if it kills at all, then on very rare ocassions)
We have Black Widows at my place..we rarely find them in or right outside our house..ive only seen like.....2..but Black Widows..Brown Recluse..House Spiders...i dont care! i dont wanem in my house! AHHHHHH there creepy!
It's actually the other way around. The Brown Recluse is far more venomous than a Black Widow. I've been bitten by both, and know the difference from 1st hand experience. The BW got me on the back of the neck, directly on my spine. The BR got me on the bottom of my foot. One might expect the one on the neck to be worse, but it wasn't. The BW made me sick for about 2 weeks with a high fever. The BR bite is still hurting badly after 2 weeks. I'm barely walking. See my video here on YouTube.
Yea, i was told not to kill wolf spiders. Because, they kill Brown Recluses and Black Widows.I have seen a lot of comments that say Brown Recluse bites are not deadly. Not long ago, there was a boy from Alabama that got bitten in the head. What happened was the spider was hiding in his helmet. He died two weeks later. I dont know, those things scare the crap out of me. Can not sleep at night, thinking there is one crawling in my bed. I need to buy some spider traps or need to get pest control.
you can't realy compare those two spiders. Widows use venom and recluse use poison. Widows will affect yuor nervous system but will leave only small markings on the location of the bite while recluse will leave a very nasty hole at the location of the bite but will have almost no effect on your system.
The recluse will rarely bite. You almost have to press it against the skin to cause said bite and many times the bite does not cause the major medical problems.I was bit by one over 9 months ago and I only received a small scar about the size of a dime.
My bf had a Brown Recluse lay eggs in his bedroom and luckily he found all of the spiders and killed them before anybody got bitten! This is one spider that you don't want to mess with, trust me!
Killed one at work last week probably saved a hospital visit for somebody.
I know that spider well enough not to let it populate our warehouse and be a threat.
I won't kill wolf spiders, and we already know black widows are in our building.
It is so rare to see a recluse that if you see one just kill it. You really could be preventing serious injury. I love spiders but I am also not stupid enough to let one go and wonder around people. They are dangerous.
