First: "Equinox" has been part of Mike's repertoire for years (he even recorded it in his excellent album "standards (and other songs)"). Second: Romero learns what the next tune will be on the spot. Thirdy: what Romero does is far more inventive, especially rhythmically; Mike plays his regular bop inflected-blues/rock licks. Conclusion: Legend level player crearly is Romero. Mike Stern is great too, of course.
Stern suggest the tune, but IMO Lubambo sounds better.

Luambo sounds great but Stern just shows the diff between great players and legend level players. Stern just so has a voice.
