I wired up 1 humbucker pickup, with volume and tone, using the same method you used for single coil pickup. Is this the right way to wire a humbucker? I ask because I am getting buzz when the volume is not turned all the way up and when tone is not turned all the way down. The controls do work though just got that annoying hum. The hum goes away as soon as I touch the pickup or output jack. What am I doing wrong? Thanks
@darthvaderyoda I have been using phone line wire. If you have an old telephone cord around that would work good. Just cut off the shielding and there will be 4 colored wires in it. The wire is a bit thin but works good. Your wire should be the stranded type not the solid kind. And you dont want to use too heavy of a wire. Most wire will work but you want it thin. I think theres a wire called BELL wire which is good.
@jeffz63 Thanks alot man! I'm thinking of making a Frankenstrat (Black and White) replica as my first "practice guitar build, before I put new pickups in my current guitar. These videos are gold!
Just found out about cigar box guitars the other day. Found your vids, and I am addicted! Thanks so much for the info you put out there!! Your awesome, I hope to make a good one in the near future.
@barrydio Yes they are addicting. I made like 8 of these so far. Different kinds. 3 string, 4 string, 2 string diddly bow. Its fun. I keep coming up with different ideas and techniques.

@katbellydance Are all your grounds correct? How many wires does your pickup have?

When you use wire, do you need any specific type of wire? If so, what kind?
