Great video, it inspired this channel and the blog that goes with it! Maya Deren was a genius, and it's great to see people pay tribute even years after her death.
The video may seem weird, but it's based on Maya Deren's Meshes of the Afternoon, a short film comprised of many symbolic images, most notably the loaf of bread (symbolizing life) with the knife in it. The lyrics to this song are beautiful, and in fact, very poetic. The title of the album, The Divine Comedy alludes to that. If you don't understand the song, or think the video is weird, you are certainly entitled to your opinion tho you don't have a very broad intellectual scope.
wow i forgot how important a song this was/is , for you retards , listen to this songs lyrics , then think about the name of the album , then the famous statute related to that literary work . then if you knew the real person its all about , wow , even creepier 15 years later ~
Ah, "Alternative Nation", how I miss you. You made Friday nights something to look forward to; having that show be hosted by Kennedy was a plus. But then, that was when MTV was watchable.
I may have said it before, but those Exorcist eyes are kind of freaking me out. That being said, I'd hit it...twice. If she'd let me. Which she wouldn't. Because I suck, and she hates me. Wait, she doesn't even know me. Well, if she did, she would say I suck, and she hates me. Damn, what a bitch! I like cake.
The video is fucking great! So reminds expressionism, stairs withs effects reminds The Calligari's cabinet...And also, the bedroom "Dracula" (first one obviously)...
And she's fucking beautiful, i mean, her eyes, her mouth, her pure and white body...
Don't really know what i think about the tune, should listen it more times...And it's 3:33 i dont even know why im here
@cutehollygolightly I was close to posting it, didn't think about it till the last minute. Please let me know if anything happens as a result. I think you can delete/remove the post.

Wow 1) how have I never seen this and 2) what a wonderful take on Meshes of the Afternoon! Which was one of the very first experimental films created by a woman
If you think about it the lyrics are realy pretty and so is she,,,,people tell me this song is pointless but its a great song,,,most 15 year olds like me dont appreciate music like this
It's sad that 99% of the people of my age find this song lame. I see it's beauty and yes I wish I was the one who wrote this lyrics, it's a PERFECT poem.
This song is apparently about (her) doubts in religion and the Jesus himself (the gentleman who fell). A perfect poem for a perfect song. The video is also unique/authentic, it's got it's own beauty. 10/10
@JasonBrazen It's a tribute to Maya Deren's famous 1943 experimental short film, "Meshes of the Afternoon", and contains a few nods to Luis Bunuel and Salvador Dali's "Un chien andalou" (1929) as well
I highly recommend both films... they're truly fascinating studies in surrealist cinema and dream logic, and were both hugely influential
I absolutely LOVE her voice. :3 & I love the resident evil movies <3 She's just simply amazing. I just came across this today and just ordered her CD (;

Milla really is the perfect woman... she can act, she can sing, she's hot as the fires of hell... i'd marry her just to change her last name... :) thumbs up if you agree
For the people who like this video you should really check Maya Deren's short films "Meshes of the Afternoon" and "At Land" (more the first than the second) from witch this video is inspired :)

Elle a tant de capacité. Elle est toujours ailleurs par rapport a ce qui a déjà été fait. Milla reste la personne "connue" que j'apprécie le plus. surtout que dans ses années, Elle semble tellement sincère...
i also saw her at the 9;30 club washington dc and ended up spending an hour with her downstairs after the show, she got high on stage and fell back on the drum kit and everyone was getting her high downstairs , shes really a kool girl
The first time I saw this was on Beavis and Butt-Head. I didn't connect the dots on who she was though. I shouldve known since she is always naked or at least topless and beaten up. I canteven picture her wearing clothes. Great vid and song though.
