It'll be going of like crazy nowadays with WiFi, and other wireless devices that are being used nowadays. Most of the surveiliance companies will be using 2.4G to piggy back their own signals and cover up their presence.

HI, i have a "pro hunter" rf signal detector, it was given by a friend, but exactly is it and what does this thing do? thanks for any info.

It allows you to detect RF signals (audio bugs, wireless cameras,etc.) that are actually within it's detectable range.
