I know all to well what the life of a NICU is like. My son Jacob was born at 23 weeks and weighed 1 lb. 5.9oz at birth and was 11 inches long. He spent 3 1/2 months in the NICU before he came home. Preemies are true miracles and blessings!! Congrats on the birth of Addyson!!!
Preemie Diapers really are extremely tiny. I held one today. It made me really want to work in the NICU to save these tiny babies. I know what I really want to do with my life.
I to had to use pampers diapers many years ago(25). I willbe praying for your family for health for financial and all the many blessings God has for your family .May God richly bless you all of you.
Thank you for sharing this video. It was very heart warming. I too am a mom of preemie twins(25 years ago). Pampers did not have the preemie diaper back then. the nurses in the nicu would cut them in half to use on the tiny ones. Thank you Susan for creating this!! You have made a rough start of life a little bit easier! GO Addyson!! And to mom and dad....thank you for sharing and God bless you and your tiny little miracle. Enjoy her as much as possible now as time goes by so fast!

I have always used and trusted Pampers for both of my girls, one of which was only 5 pounds. I loved the newborn diapers from Pampers then (she is now a healthy soccer playing 10 year old) eventhough they were a little big. I am overjoyed to see how much Pampers really cares and love the innovation and creativity they continue to posess. I now use the thinniest pampers cruisers on my 2 year old and LOVE them!!! Keep it up Pampers!!
I think it great...i had a pre also she was 2lbs. with no blood flow she stayed in the hospital for months and after that constant hospital visits 2 to 3 weekly , that lasted for 3years.. and i myself was unable to move my right side of my body for 3 years and i could barely speak.. so i understand their miracle because i have my very own... so keep your spirits up things will get better. my family and i will add you to our prayers.
Way to go Pampers! :) I too had a baby boy born two months early and remember how he swam in regular new born size. For a while he was just wrapped in a cloth one. People don't realize the need in NICU. MY heart of many thanks go out to you for a job well done.
My nephew and his girlfriend are expecting their first baby. She is in the hospital now in danger in going into labor 12 weeks early. i am hoping for the best and seeing this story has really encouraged me and made me remember that their is hope. What a beautiful story. Welcome home Addyson:)
Addyson is doing great. She came home in early August and is adjusting to her new home just fine. Pampers has been in close contact with the family. We’re actually working on a web series that follows Addyson’s journey home. As soon as the videos are done, we’ll be sharing them with our Facebook fans first. Thanks everyone for asking about her.
I was drawn to the video that will touch my heart. My son was born 2 weeks early. Not as early as others, but early enough that the doctors still treated him with all the love as a really really preemie baby. The video should have been named how pampers create the new preemie diaper instead.
I have 2 preemie babies and the hospital supplies diapers...why would i buy preemie diapers. By the time my kids came home they were in regular preemie diapers. I agree with post below by Kathyohmann... a commercial?? seriously??
Oh my goodness - how wonderful. I was so lucky in that my children were all full term so can't really relate to how a premie parent must feel but for Pampers to care enough to make a diaper this size . . . . wow!!
I myself had my son at 26 weeks (weighed a whole 1lb 15oz). That was in 1997, and they didn't have preemie diapers yet. I thought the diaper that we were able to use was tiny (still way too big, about the size of a cigarette pack) these diapers made by Pampers would have been awesome! By the way...one of my son's nurses nicknamed him "microbutt". Thanks, Pampers!
In 1952, my aunt fell down a flight of stairs and gave premature birth (at 16 weeks early) to my cousin. My mother took care of her in the nursery since my aunt wasn't capable of it, due to ill health. One of my mother's chief complaints was about the diapers, or lack thereof. I'm so glad Pampers finally saw the need and filled it. Especially since my niece has been told she can expect to go into premature labor with her first child. One less worry. Thanks, Pampers!
That is truely wonderful Thank you Pampers. Do Pampers donate any of there proceeds to help Preemies? There are a lot of wonderful medical interventional programs to help stop the high rate of premature births in the US.
This story is really touching. I thank God first for this miracle and then to the lady at Pampers I send my Congratulations for her commitment and for a job well done.
I love the little preemie diapers that is so nice&god bless that invention. How is little addyson doing? They focusing more on the diaper than this sweet little girl.
I like this story but as other's have expressed here... I would have liked to have seen the focus on the little preemie girl. My son was also born 3 months premature, 1lb. 4 oz. & so super tiny!!! I can relate to the feelings of these parents, especially the mother who felt helpless & scared to leave their little one at the hospital. It's gut wrenching because you don't know what's going to happen, if they will thrive or if you may lose them. My son is now 19yrs. old & very muscular! Love Him!
I would have to agree with the percentage on being a PR for pampers.I enjoyed the story but would have liked to have seen it focused more on the family with their precious daughter......please keep us updated on her progress.I am a proud grandparent of a preemie who was born at 28 weeks. She is still very petite but very sassy.LOL
I thought this was going to be about the baby and the family but it felt more like a comercial which was disappointing. While I am 25 weeks pregnant myself and pray never to experience what any of these families have, I am happy that pampers recognized a need for these little kids.
my oldest daughter was born almost 22 years ago at 32 wks, weighing 4lbs 9oz at birth & dropped to 3lbs 1oz.. the nurses used folded surgical masks as diapers because there was nothing for under 5lbs. Pampers was the only company at the time that made diapers smaller than NB (newborn). it's great to see that the company has gone even smaller for those who need it. on a funny note the only affordable and attractive clothes that fit my daughter were from Mattel, made for their Cabbage Patch Dolls!
This was a very touching story and such a great idea for Pampers to come up with. My son was a preemie and it was so hard to find a diaper to fit they were all too bulky and leaked. Great job Pampers and God Bless all the families of preemie babies.
Wow...thank you Pampers!!!! As a Mom of a duaghter who was born at 26 weeks and weighed 1 pound 9 ounces the only thing that was available 18 years ago was 4 X 4's that were pieced together to resemble a diaper. I can only imagined how thrilled the nurses were to be able to have something so wonderful :)
Did they really put a diaper on a preemie that small? Think about it , the infant would be hooked up to all kinds of wires! When my twins were born they weighed 5.3 & 5.5 lbs.Even the preemie diapers were too big!
The diapers are so tiny and it's wonderful that this woman developed them for the super tiny preemies, but this felt too much like a commercial/sales pitch to me. Does pampers at least donate them to the various hospital NICUs around the country, or do they sell them?
@sunriveroregon1, ALL children are wanted. They may not be "wanted" at the time of the crisis pregnancy by their biological parents, but other people most definitely want them. And even if they don't, we shouldn't go around killing people just because of the value others place on their lives. Otherwise, there's an easy solution for those homeless and "throwaway" teens . . .
Beautiful and precious. Just a reminder to all: babies this same age are being aborted on a daily basis. Support your local pregnancy counseling center and life-affirming choices whenever you can. Life is precious at every age.
@gadgetlady It's especially precious for children who are wanted. Considering the numbers of homeless and "throwaway" teens, I believe that if you truly value life then I hope you are doing something real for them.
When pregnancy is a absolute certainty of life (and I am speaking for those who have lost children at birth from stillbirth or miscarriage) then let's talk about pro-life.
I had two preemies--both are happy, healthy adults today--one is an engineer and the other just graduated summa cum laude from college. I seriously avoided disposable diapers with all of them (them and their two older sibs) as much as possible. This is an okay video, but I agree with the lady who said it is mostly a Pampers commercial.
The Diaper is incredible. What a compassion went into putting that together.
Our first grandson was a preemie he weighe 5 lbs Pampers had the larger preemie diapers on the market that we used.. . He is now six years old and you would never know.
My grandson was born at 27 weeks. He is now a healthy, happy, 9 year old football playing, stakeboard riding, video gam playing big brother. We had a hard time finding any premee clothes for him. and when we did they were huge.
He is stil a skinny little guy. But he is one of the lights of my heart.
this video made me cry i had a preemie at 28weeks 2lbs10oz and hgot down to a pound and i still have his diapers and it just reminded me of how much he has really grown and got threw
This video makes me so proud to work on the Pampers brand. My son was born at 35 weeks and only 5 pounds, much bigger than Addison, but still small. I've been on both sides of this - changing the really small diapers and working for the brand that makes them - because it's the right thing to do. AMAZING! Tricia@Pampers
I watched the Smolinski's journey through the Pampers Welcome to Parenthood videos. I'm sure this has been a tough road for the family. I'm so glad to hear Addy is doing well and hope they get to bring her home very soon. Thank you for letting us in our this experience!
One of my close friends recently had a preemie baby and I know she and her husband went through this same experience. It was really touching to see this family and hear about their story. I hope we get to hear more about baby Addyson! I'd love to know how she's doing in a few months.
