  • Is this where the hardcore fans meet up ;)

  • saves me

  • what a man she describes - alternately threatening, condescending, and self-pitying - no wonder she left

  • hissing of summer lawns album sure hits the spot with a glass of wine!!!!..lights low...and mobile off!!!!!!..

  • Whats better than one Joni? Joni overdubbed into a mystical choir singing notes

over chords from a pace deep in her heart. I love her for that. Such beauty. She just opened up the world to me. Nothing was out of reach. Not Jazz, not poetry,

not an artist who instinctively rebelled. She got me through some painful times.

But I still listen stop and acknowledge a true original and innovator who forever touched my heart. Love you joni! Thank YOu!

  • My favorite album. Shades of Scarlet Conquering I discover at 15 years and would play over and over because she painted such a beautiful portrait of a disgustingly

selfish woman. Such a deep understanding, but never any kind of approval for what this Scarlett was, Joni walked a different road. But the depth of compassion

and the otherworldly music. What an arrangement. Must have played this song 50 times. So much to absorb. Sweet BIrd I came to love as well.

  • when she was at the top of her game, no one and i mean no one could touch her for her sheer artistic heights. decades later i still revel in her music despite discovering many new artists along the way. we are so blessed to have her among us...

  • there is no earthly being above her, genius

  • "GOD goes up the chimney, like childhood Santa Claus" ....why is this woman not president???

I know Joni is just an interpreter, but man 'o man, if we had some folks in Congress who could see things like her.....we wouldn't be this, dare I say..."DOG EAT DOG" society.

  • @mygirlruth Jeff Baxter works for the U.S. defense, but then again, he's not a lyricists and I'm not REALLY a fan of his, just when he adds his talent to Steely Dan or Doobie Brothers.

  • @uncletupelo96

Oddly enough if it weren't for the sputs she may not have started her career in music. She needed earn the

bread to buy 'em. YES, if you didn't notice I am a child of the 60's.

  • leave it to music to kick us in the ass and make u see the truth

  • Darn right!

  • I love this woman's music. She has been and always will be one of the greatest female vocalists and song writers of ever.

  • @mrrichard. God goes up the chimney...............steeples lean. i love a good cause. i'm moving from vietnam to cambodia. 4 rescuded cats and a lover for 40 years. any advice? please respond asap. life is short.....

  • There is no one like Joni, no one. If it weren't for Joni Mitchell and her magical ability to bring clarity to every subject my mind might get caught up in I may as well be a willow branch.

  • @steelydrwu

Oh I don't know. There's PJ Harvey and 1 or 2 other highly original females coming up the rails, although none of them perhaps are quite in Joni's league.

  • This has always been my favorite CD - and will remain that. One of those where you know every word, nuance and feel it all. You know these people she tells us about, may even be one of the people.

  • Holy fuck!!!!!! Genious!!!!!!

  • who was this asshole she was singing about? Resentful, envious, confrontational, dismissive, pessimistic, self-indulgent - I hope she did leave

  • thank you gaucho. the whole world appreciates you. love from vietnam, shamus.

  • Indescribably beautiful, effortless, wise, hip as hell. Love how it sounds slightly distant and elevated. She is..... a genius.

  • "We walked on the moon. You be polite"

  • love this song. the music alone is enthralling, but when her voice kicks in it's just magic that makes me want to sit up and take notice.

pity she smoked so much. now she sounds like and old car trying to start up....

  • Wow, so many years have passed since I first heard this. Joni not only inspired me to uproot myself and move to CA... She sang of following your own muse...to live life on one's own terms. And the comfort of knowing that it's alright. Thank you, Joni for handing us the keys to the high free way

  • I think Joni saved a lot of lives--mine included. The simple message that your sorrow is okay has been so healing.

  • great song and album....I have often wondered, in France, do they kiss on Main Street?

  • great song and album....I have of

  • Bless you, Joni. For over 40 years you have seen through my soul when no one else could even see it. Have held your words close in the darkest hours and you gave me serenity.

  • Wow : )

  • It really isn't fair !

How can one person have so much talent ? Yet another Joni MASTERPIECE of songwriting delivered as only Joni can.

How can we be expected to pick a favourite Joni Mitchell song or album or even period of her musical styles ???

  • I remember the moment I first heard this song sitting in a car in a parking lot. I was in an abusive marriage and the words caused something to rise in my heart. Another woman was validating me, speaking truth, and it was the first step that led me to my freedom from an impossible situation. I'll always be grateful to Joni. I love her music and I believe she saved my life.

  • @tweetyli1 that gives me chills. there is something supernatural about Joni Mitchell and the way she can affect a persons soul. good for you - hope you are well.

  • @tweetyli1

Bless Your Heart! Yes, without Wimmin validating our intuition this world would be

the darkest planet in this entire cosmos. Peace and Blessings!!

  • Just bought this! Outstanding! I love the rhythm section and the Dobro! Folk Funk at its best!

  • I love how she passively attacks religion in just about every song on this album. She sounds so innocent but the words are so strong.

  • Now I know where Ween's "Mutilated Lips" came from.

  • Stunning album, excellent song. The musicianship on this album raises the bar, and the lyrical content has depths to explore upon each listening.

  • in england it was voted album of the year,, so i bought it out of curiousity.... wow classic

  • my favorite Joni song. as soon as I heard it, I love it. this album was put down so badly when it was released but I never could see why. thank you for posting.

  • it's the beat that haunts me

  • Joni Mitchell : vocals, acoustic guitar

    Robben Ford : dobro

    Larry Carlton : electric guitar

    Victor Feldman : congas

    John Guerin : drums

    Wilton Felder : bass

  • Maybe greatest verse ever:

    Truth goes up in vapors

    The steeples lean

    Winds of change patriarchs

Snug in your bible belt dreams

    God goes up the chimney

    Like childhood Santa Claus

The good slaves love the good book

    A rebel loves a cause

  • please keep in mind, that the boastings of youth pull you back to the same degree as you face the elder years....love the girl

  • @mrrichardfeder I have to disagree. It's a good stanza. But ALL of "Amelia" is amazing, and so are various songs from "Court &Spark" and " The Hissing...".

  • @mrrichardfeder It IS the greatest verse ever!
