I would counter this by suggesting that if the American medics who 'donate' their services to so-called developing countries, applied themselves to offering their services to US citizens, the problem would be very much reduced, and the developing world would have less of a subsidy with which to fund their civil wars. Charity begins at home, is not a bad maxim.
That would be a huge help. However something still needs to be done to help those who are insured and fall short when they get ill. The majority of bankruptcies in this country are due to overwhelming medical bills and sadly most of those are insured.
This is because there is a misplaced expectation over what insurance can provide for. There is no silver-bullet answer to this. But there is a free market solution to the extent that the current situation can be hugely less distressing. Americans and Europeans have a choice: They can accept that a certain degree of distress is the blood-price to be paid for liberty, until technology, via ingenuity and work, has improved in its scope. Or they can accept tyranny, until they all go bankrupt.
Can any one please tell me back in 2004 this Governor, supported the change in the Law and say it needed to be change so Republican Gov. Mitch Romney could not appoint a temp Senator for 5months until a special Election was held. This was done at Sen Kennedy request because he did not want a Republican Sen from Mass to be in office for 5months or even longer if they was elected and he said back than Mass would be ok with one voice in the Senate. Now it is different and Gov. want it change.

Senator Kennedy was a giant within the self-aggrandizing bubble of Washington D.C. and worked to vastly increase the size of government and the impact of its interventions on everyone else. The poor have done very badly, since the destruction of the middle class has made it enormously more difficult, for the poor to stop being poor, with the result being that they remain poor, so as to justify the 'profoundly important proposals pending in the Congress'.
