@awsomeepicquest A shotgun is actually a very bad Idea, they are very heavy and so is their ammunition. The best weapon would probably be a civilian AR-15, .223 ammo is lightweight, and so is the rifle itself being made of mainly polymers. plus they are infinitely customizable and parts for them are very easy to come by. whatever you do don't use a .22 unless at very close range as they're weak, and they're ammunition can ride the skull instead of piercing it, and then your screwed!

Gun will work, but they are load so use them rarely, and blunt object may only be good if you hit the zombie in the head, and if on ground level the door is not the only way in.

Me, the right weapon's would be a gun, a crossbow and crossbow bolt's, cloth and gas for crossbow bolt's, and a long sharp sword, and for safety carry a roll of string and bell's, nothing worse then having a zombie sneak up without warning, and food and drink, tool's work too.
