Well, I'd say they're semi-consistent on it. Here's why:

The girl was wronged by the cheating, and in the heat of the moment, she went overboard on her revenge. Her crime was heinous and unimaginable, but at least you can understand her want for revenge.

The man had probably cheated, gotten HIV, and then when she didn't want to risk getting HIV herself (VERY understandable), he goes WAY overboard on his sexual frustration.

Also, willfully spreading HIV is in my opinion one of the worst crimes.

Like I said I'm not defending that guy but in both cases people commit some pretty barbaric and evil acts and one case apparently is very funny and the other is the worst thing ever done.

Burning off someone's genitalia, even if they cheated on you, is to me just as evil as giving them a terrible illness. I don't see the difference.

They're pretty much on the same level of "evil", but my point is that the stories big difference is in the pretext of the evildoing. Before the extreme ball-burning, the guy had wronged her. However, before the HIV-pricking, she hadn't done anything wrong, he probably did though (cheating to get HIV).

I'd say the reason the person stole your bag changes the story a bit. Starvation or to buy a new cellphone.

My whole point is when you do something that barbaric, the "punishment" you hand out is so insane and over the top that you make yourself the bad guy, regardless of your reason.. Certainly cheating on someone is bad but crippling them for life is sociopathic at least.

But let's say that in both instances the horrible act is switched to just a simple act of hitting the other person with their fist.

Case A) Woman is cheated on, so she hits her husband.

Case B) Man (potentially cheats) has HIV, his wife won't sleep with him, and so he hits his wife.

Clearly society would look at case A and say "Well that's understandable".

Case B would be "Wow, that's an asshole".
