I was there behind the goal when Mciloy scored. The happiest moment of my life so far - then Sunderland scored the winner which was the worst moment. I felt i'd lived a lot for a 16 year od that day but i'm glad i was there for a classic wembley final. I still feel sick when i see the last goal go in33 years later. Liam Brady was a star and in those days both sets of fans stuck around for a proper lap of honour.

Most of them workmanlike (to put it politely), won with a headed goal from a set-piece and only interesting when the terraces regularly erupted.

Yet I cannot adequately describe the effect that Sunderland's goal had on me except to say that this is still the best day of my life.

Unless they've already qualified for the Champions League - so that usually means the runners-up these days. (The FA and the Premier League banned Portsmouth this season though due to their financial troubles. Otherwise Liverpool wouldn't have been in Europe this year.)

my dad is a curse, he first went to wembly in 76, when we got beat by that goal by stokes that was a mile offside, then in 77 there was a mix up with his ticket and he couldn't go and we beat liverpool, then 2 years later in 79 he went up to this and alan sunderland pops up in the last minute!! he hasn't been to wembly since!! haha
