People are forgetting that the device is a proof of concept and a prototype at best. Give it a few years of refinement and miniaturization at it might be simply a brooch or badge one wears, maybe a pair of glasses that all. Having the technology created and usable enables it to be used in new solutions for any of a million possible situations. Just because you do not see a practical application for this doesn't mean the application doesn't exist. Instead of criticizing someone with a vision of what can be accomplished in the future you might try broadening your own perspective first.

All what was done here is to combine a camera, projector, phone, and a 3D-mouse (or something similiar to that) into a digital necklace. Consider that most phones have a camera now... And some phones are even starting to come out with projectors... Probably wont be too long till this stuff is common, in some form.

Still, I'm hoping we'll eventually get to Augmented Reality, via some sort of glasses display, or contacts, or whatever. There is SO much more that can be done with AR.
