Neil is, as anyone who has worked with him can tell you, a very grounded and thoughtful man. His voice seems not to have aged a bit and at this point I think he is the most handsome he has ever looked. This is a beautiful performance and it reminds me we should acknowledge the lady who made this song famous both in the United States and across the nation, Miss Sophie Tucker. And the definitive recording, as pointed out already here, of Jan Peerce and the wonderful recording by Connie Francis.
You Tube is wonderful for all the remarkable performances one can find here that might otherwise never be seen. But it is hard to believe people who are interested in music can have the ugly hearts and ugly mouths that become apparent here. Can't people watch a performance without insulting an entire religion? If you want to hate a religion, leave You Tube and go find a racist chat room to vet your anger. Music is supposed to bring together the people's of the world. You, who hate, need help.
@portraitartistdamour They know not what they say, a great tribute to the godess of love and caring. No other has ever put the love and care of a mother so well as in this song, with true Jewish love and appreciation! If all the world were like minded, how wonderful would it be! God Bless and be happy! Luv and hugs BB x
@TheDiddlysquat He's a Jew singing a song about his poor Jewish Mother. What is he "hiding"? What are you hiding? Certainly not your disgusting anti-Semitism. You Piece of Goyishe Scheiss.
What has wearing a wig got to do with anything? If you were only aware of all people who wear hairpieces. What about the terrible one worn by Frank Sinatara, for example? Are all those wear a mustache or beard hiding something? Do you spend any money on trying to make yourself look better? Perhaps looking inside yourself would be a better place to spend your money.
A good version. Of course, the DEFINITIVE version, in my opinion, was sung by Jan Peerce. What a wonderful tribute to mothers all over the world, Jewish or not! A great song and an absolutely appropriate sentiment.
It's amazing that his singing talent is unlikely to decline, rather has gotten better with age. Thanks for sharing. BTW, Neil got a new wig for himself, that's better.
great memories

As long as a fellow Yid sings this song, it never fails to bring a tear to my eyes.

I have never been moved by Yiddish music, but for some reason, I always find myself singing along to my mom's copy of this song. it's wonderful/
Also, I'm impressed that he sings so well! First off, since he's older, but also that artists today do such poor live performances!

This song brings tears to my eyes every time I hear it. No one can sing this as good as Mr. Sedaka.
