on the back of your i7 manual, there should be a sticker hidden away there to stick on your case. just incase u missed it. i noticed like 2 weeks after :p
Wait for the i7 930, might make the 920 cheaper. Get a nice entry level gigabyte board if your planning on light gaming/low level overclocking. For the average person a 5770 would be fine, best bang for buck out atm with dx11. Use the intel cooler if you don't plan on overclocking or heavy gaming etc. 650w should be enough (80+) The average person won't need 1600mhz ram so 1333 should be fine. This should be ok for the average person.
You see the problem about putting up prices is that they are changing so often! Tell me what things you would like me to price if you want. I will find the current prices and message them to you. Thanks for the comment!
the i7 has 4 cores, but each core has double the capability of a normal core. so it is said to have 4 real cores and 4 "virtual" cores. which basically makes it a whole lot faster.
I've decided I'll go with the i7 for speed and longevity, as the 1366 sockets will probably last longer. 1156 looks like just a midway stepping stone.
btw, did you make any videos of actually building it? its fine if you didn't I'm just interested.
@poison1990 The i5 is a more for the budget processor ! It is very great for gaming but at other ways it may be slower than i7 . And socket LGA 1156 is a mainstream socket . And a LGA 1366 is a high end socket (More freatures and better performance possibly) So keep that also in mind . You will maybe wan't to consider a sandy bridge build !
what temps are you all getting with the thors hammer? I am unsure if i should get the dark knight or thors hammer? ill be overclocking to around4.0 ghz
If you've got the money to spend get a Megahalems. It beats thors hammer, dark knight and true black. I wanted a Megahalems but didn't have the money and went with the hammer.
Np man I just ordered from Newegg for the first time for the that cpu cooler and my little sisters new psu for her PC and everything went smooth selected the 2 day shipping ofcourse hopefully it will be at my house on Friday :D
Hey dude, I ordered the i7 920 with the corsair domination ram and a asus p6t, pretty good stuff, that's on it's way, my question is have you built this yet, if so what temp did you get the cpu to? next on my list to order is the 932 like in step one and thors hammer, i want to know what temp I'll be looking at :) thanks in advance
Hey man, thanks for the comment :) but this build is only in process and not complete yet. But I can help you. I search the web on what you are searching for and I found tests on thors hammer using the core i7 920. These were my findings. When cpu is not in use and resting, temps of thors hammer are 41 degrees compared to the stocks 46. When under load the hammer scored at 44 degrees while the stock is at 53. Very good results! I hope this helped you! Thanks :)
And for even more effective cooling i would consider adding a 120mm fan to the hammer. It is what I will be doing. Installing the fan could not be easier and anti vibration clips are given along with the hammer to install with the fan so vibration and noise will be very low. Thanks again.
End unboxing videos.

You should put the prices on your description. It's ok if it's in Euros. I'll use a converter to calculate the amount in USD.

Ooh, cool, that's true. Thank you. Say, with everything put all together, what's the price you got for building your own?
disposedof4life 2 years ago
@disposedof4life It came to about 1400 (pc itself) and about 1800 overall for everything! that is in euro by the way

Ouch lol, ok thanks!

Hey nice video. subd.
Im thinking of doing my first build at the start of next year.
Whats the difference between the i7 920 and the i5 750 other than different sockets? (1366 and 1156)
they are both 2.66mhz and have 8mb cache.
poison1990 2 years ago
think it is just the socket. Do not know much about the core i5's
rgdaxter 2 years ago
I looked it up :D.
the main difference is hyper threading.
the i7 has 4 cores, but each core has double the capability of a normal core. so it is said to have 4 real cores and 4 "virtual" cores. which basically makes it a whole lot faster.

cancel that last question, I just saw you stuck it up. shall watch now ^_^
I think I may record me getting my parts together and building it too, even as my first build.
poison1990 2 years ago
You can't use Crossfire or SLI with Socket 1156 CPUs, and the Core i5 doesn't have Hyperthreading.

seems like this video is getting a lot of people interested in the thors hammer. I think Xigmatek should hire me lol :) Thanks for the comment.
