benny the jet :*)>~ respected him for so long, i got to try out for a fight scene with Jackie Chan in HongKong in 1990 after a year in China furthering my Kung-Fu, its a shame i never made it into a film to showcase and enjoy time with Jackie ..but i got a cup of tea with him and some others trying out ..good times :*)>~ ..thanks Benny
Brazilian Ju-Jitsu/Shoot fighting are the best style, ask MMA fighters. While MMA tournaments, like the popular UFC, use a mixture of Martial Art forms, it's all heavily based on the ground game and being competent at the grappling game, and that was all introduced to MMA by the Brazilians and their form of Ju-Jitsu grappling as well as Shoot fighters from Japan. Guys like Royce Gracie, Marco Ruas, Ken Shamrock, Dan Sevren, etc. Back in the days when the UFC was like the movie "Blood Sport".
if hard soft is Kempo - Shotokan what is Goju Ryu ? ( that actually means hard and soft style ) ThePurdude is right ! and Kempo and Shotokan are balanced martial arts more Boxing and Muay-Thai are hard and Aikido is soft ... dropped the ball there dude
isn't goju ryu karate the hard/soft style?? quite literally?
And shotokan isn't entirely hard. It does have soft motions, but you'd have to study shotokan for either: 1) longer than four years or 2) into lots of depth in a short amount of time.
I like jet as a ring fighter but he has very phew things to teach, try real "masters" from real martial arts, not scrapers that mix boxing with taekwondo and judo with whatever other style...that stupid way of thinking gave birth to an other crap....MMA...wich sucks...Kung fu has everything since grappling to stand up fighting, it has projections and locks, it's far more complete than nowadays "styles" it's a real philosophy of life instead only a fighting and self defence method
@tranglomango MMA isnt a style its a sporting ruleset so kung guys are ideally placed to compete in seeing as its so complete. The problem is that 99% of kung fu guys dont spar full contact or wrestle and groundfight, the techs are in the forms and so are useless to them.Benny has more to teach a than the vast majority of masters whove never fought at all.
besides Asia Kung Fu spred into the Us by Bruce and other masters and than to europe....a shame ppl only knew about the japanese LIE much later on...
Japanese got everything they have from chinese culture...everything, since martial arts methods to religion and to way of life...they r just some retarded copycats...
Funny. Benny's oldest (Arnold) brother is my father's (Bill Ryusaki) first student promoted to the rank of Shodan (first degree black belt). My dad moved here form Hawaii in 1961. If I am not mistaken Arnold got his black belt in 1964 or 65. Our style is Hawaiian Kenpo. My Grandfather (Torazo Ryusaki) was a Shotokan karateka and jusitsuka. Bennny used to call his style Ukidokan. Google Bill Ryusaki for the full story.
Pfft. This guy's brother didn't come up with Kenpo-Shotokan, and that's NOT what Kenpo-Shotokan is. Kenpo- Shotokan is the combination of Kenpo Self Defense and Shotokan Katas.
@RonClements007 no...kempo shotokan is shit, crap and baby poo poo, kung fu is much more ancient complete and effective than this crapy styles guys like this create over the years... since Bruce Lee showed the US Kung Fu, a bunch of new crap came out, Get this, Kung fu is the one and only source of fighting methods in japan and almost all other countries in Asia..karate, kendo, judo, jujitsu even korean styles came from china and from Kung fu
@tranglomango interestingly enough Kung Fu is derived from a mediteranean style of fighting which came to India from where the monks took it to China ... it came with the army of Alexander the Great who was Macedonian so the most ancient styles are greco-roman wrestling and boxing ... combined results the gladiator empty hand style ( mma) do not insult any martial art because they all are different manifestations of warrior spirit ... The warrior swings the sword and not the other way around
@tranglomango the first civilizations in history where somewhere in Mesopotamia and then migrated north to south-central Europe , Africa and Asia ( i don't really know the american side of the planet in this matter ) I admire China's culture and history 2 but what your saying is historically and generally false read a little don't just look at anime ...propaganda isn't fact ( PS if you where a martial artist you would respect other disciplines ass well )
Dont get mad, but I have no respect for any macedonian or greek costume, for they had homosexual relationship engraved in their CULTURE, and that disgustes me the most, Alexander the great was a homosexual little bitch with an army of fools
Kung Fu derivated from people not nations friend, Alexander the Great sure has created a huge name for himself, but names do nothing and tell nothing to me.....DEEDS DO, and for the shine on my heart a scourge came from heaven called Genghis Khan
@tranglomango the guy conquered almost all the civilized and uncivilized world , built cities , libraries and coordinated the largest army of the ancient world ... he wasn't killed he died from the inexistence of peniciline "deeds talk ? " the guy wrote the book ;) Genghis was a great leader but he had a makeshift army and ran a nation without cities ... Sun Tzu in the art of war says that a nation without cities or leaders cant be conquered! ( btw chinese culture had homos 2 ;)
@TheSamaell Genghis Khan, or Temüjin by birthname (c. 1162[1]–August 18, 1227) was a Mongol political and military leader or Khan (Ruler) (posthumously Khagan (Emperor)) who united the Mongol tribes and founded the Mongol Empire (1206 – 1368), the largest contiguous empire in world history. Born to the name Temüjin in the Borjigin clan, he forged a powerful army based on merit to become one of the most significant and successful military leaders in history.
@tranglomango how can you culturally get a dick in your ass :)) ? i don't know why that bothers you ... they are all dead and we still have homosexuality ... the rich roman circles considered that they can do what they want ... the rest of the population was normal ... and Alexander i think was bisexual not gay he had Roxanne ... his leadership and influence over the world is more interesting than his sexual preferences ... sry if i offended i don't really know much about mongols
@TheSamaell I also don't know much about alexander either...u haven't ofended me, anyway I hope I haven't ofended you either, but besides all that I really hate homos
The fact i disagree with you in Martial Arts subject, is because I practice kung fu for many years and by the traditional way, I even have learned some traditional medicine, it was passed to my master by a old chinese man that lives in my town, so the old man have never had many disciples and i learned the history of chinese martial
@tranglomango from him, and thats the reason I disagree, and the way I first replyed u has an explanation too, since wushu came out and the art I learned is disapearing from the planet, nobody TAKES IT SERIOUSLY and I hate it, nobody understands the seriousity of this art, and then MMA allways comes up, it gets me mad watching ppl ven saying that name and believing in it, thats the reason of that first reply I hate when ppl only talk about what they know..
@tranglomango i practice shotokan for 6 years now that lead me to this video ... i saw someone trying to merge my discipline with kempo and that seemed weird ... i'm open to almost all martial arts. i'm faithfull to shotokan but i've tried judo , aikido , box , muay-thai , jiu-jitsu , kenjutsu and all i came across :)) i love the martial art scene , the people the attitude the history ;) and the conversations with martial artists
Most ancient styles? How? China was one of the most ancient, high developed (in all terms) and richest nations on the world, had the very first citys to rise up on the planet (like egipt did) and has a unique martial art and filosophy, wich is fading out from existence and wich u canot find in any other nation or any other place on earth...

The soft and hart is also given in goju-ryu. Go=Hard, Ju=Soft though I have to say that Kung Fu is much deeper that karate.
