I suppose you are a nice guy etc and I don't intend to try to make you feel bad but you're only covering about 50% of the ground with your large non-overlapping sweeps.
Buy a Garrett Pro Pointer and use it. You will save 2x the time and get to dig 2x as much. For everyone watching, dig the plug, use the hand held pinpointer. There should have been more older coins. You might need a better MD that can discrim out iron from coins.
Buy a Garrett Pro Pointer and use it. You will save 2x the time and get to dig 2x as much. For everyone watching, dig the plug, use the hand held pinpointer.
@wasabi167 Never believe anybody if they tell you a spot is hunted out that's BS. People loose stuff everyday also in the early spring, the frost pushes items up toward the surface.
I have a Minelab Safari but I do like the F4 F70 and F75 fishers. I think it doesn't so much matter so much as to what detector you use as it is the technique of the person using it.
InspireImages your minelab should do you well. I think both the person and the detector count, but everyone should really learn their detector and the limits it has.
how did youu get the coins and the other stuff so clean? mum said with my coins i found to just have them in hot soapy water then scrub them with this silver stuff. it dosent really work.
I clean the copper coins by heating up peroxide in the microwave until it boils and then stick my pennies or coppers in there and it takes off the crud and sometimes I will use a very soft toothbrush, but not on a valuable coin though.
The detector can read pretty deep depending on how large the object is. The larger the object the deeper it detects. The brand is Fisher F75 and I believe you can get one for around $900 or less if you look on Ebay.
I would say it may be good for the beginner, but if you are serious and going to stay at this and not let your detector gather dust. I am 100% sold on Minelab detectors now that I have one. I would say it also depends on if the beach is fresh or saltwater. If if is saltwater it may not be that good.
Hey nice video, I noticed you're fast on retrieveing items, I've learned some trick on what to carry, etc... keep up the good work, thx from Brazil.. oh I got an Ace 250, works great!
Joe I would stay away from Bounty Hunter. The detector in my opinion is not that great. You will find things that are shallow, but it does not go that deep. Usually the deeper items are the older better items. ACE 250 by Garrett would be a better starting detector in that price range. Being experienced I would go with high end detector if you are going to be detecting this for a long time.
I bought my first metal detector this weekend.White's Prizm IV.What a waste of $400It has 5 discrimination modes and tone ID and even with all that set all I found was trash.Ken White can kiss my ass
Whites is a good metal detector. Keep in mind that you will find a lot of trash along with the treasure. To find the good stuff you need to do some research and find the old parts of your town and do some door knocking for permission to hunt. Just want to encourage not to give up on your detector, you have to use it for more than just a weekend to really get to know it.
The thing about it is,it's supposed to be designed to be fool proof.I had good solid hits on targets that were supposed to 25c pieces and one turned out to be a knob from a washer or dryer and the other was a slug of some type of metal.I could understand if I had the detector set to find all metals, but I was finding stuff it was supposed to reject.I'm not wasting another weekend with it,it goes on ebay, and then I'm done.
I thought this was interesting, I found a kilgore gun just like that a month ago when I was staying in a 1900's home. I saw your find and was amazed :P
great fun,,, do you know the folks that own this land ? just wondering how you were able to get their o.k. to hunt there. I dont have much luck getting people to hunt their land, I dont blame them, everyone is so scared and skeptical of everyone else these days.
I cant believe how lucky you got in finding all that! I live by an old plantation house that's from the 1880's. I have found some stuff, alot of its really rusted. I can't really tell what's what. Usually I find nails and square nails! But sometimes I find some cool stuff. I've found a toy car, but it was bigger. Its a yellow looking 30s hot rod. Looks like a 37' auburn boatail. Its made by Metal Masters Co. Priced at $20. I found a tow truck like the one you found that's made by Toots A Toy.
Sorry cannot and will not do that. If you probe the ground and scratch a potentially valuable coin then you have just devalued the coin. I appreciate your comment and in the past have used the probing technique and I would not recommend anyone using that idea. That is why they now make electronic probes.
It must be horrible to live in the US if you love metal detecting, what is there to find? Where I live in England I dig up Roman coins, Viking items, and items going back 2,000 years, you never know what you will find each day.
You got us there on the older finds, but it is great to live in the USA. We get to keep our finds, although they may not be as old, it is just as fun to dig something up not knowing what you will find next.
I wish you the best and happy hunting my English friend.
Well that's true, we have treasure trove laws which state that all gold and silver found is the property of the crown and if no declared then you go to prison, very harsh! Still most of us don't tell them that, and sell the item on ebay or in Europe, or the US. That law was started by king john in the 13th century because he wanted it all for himself, greedy begger!
Never heard that one before and probably won't try it either. That does not make any sense at all. Please explain, or else I will think you are insulting the metal detectorist intelligence.
Thanks for posting, we need a little humor here and there.
Yes I have learned that trick along time ago, because the rain causes more of a Halo effect, so the detector can find the deeper and sometimes overlooked coins.
I agree, but the place had probably been hunted out before. It is on a main busy road where a lot of people (detectorist) have probably been to already. The land owner is not the original owner. There were tow other houses next door torn down and converted to a preserve where you cannot hunt. Anyway, I do plan on making a trip back there to see what else can be found.
Maybe some silver will be discovered on my 2nd trip back.
I liked it. But you really should carry a couple of brushes with you. A wire brush and a soft brush to push around mud and dirt on items. Made me cringe to think you could damage something.
Do you have a remote microphone for your camera or are you just using the one thats on the camera? I was asking this because it's hard to hear you when your away from the camera. Might I suggest one of those microphones that clip on to your shirt and sends a wireless signal to your camera.
That was my first video and I don't have a remote mice yet. A clip on lapel mic would be great if my mic supported it. I will speak louder in other videos until I can get a new camera.
