Hi, thank you for this! I was wondering if you might be able to direct me to where I can find sheet music to this rendition of "A Man of Constant Sorrow"? Thank you!
@friendofthefiddle Sorry, I play by ear and do not know where to find sheet music for John Hartford's music (he's the man behind this rendition) I've been asked about tabs and sheet music a lot, so I just might try to do a tutorial for this. When I tought my wife to play it I changed the key to D ... I think. I play it in the D major scale anyway.
I thought that might be the case...thank you for your response.

hey this is amazing do you have tabs or sheet music please?

If I try to improvise a tab of some sort and the G major scale looks like this:
(G)0 2 4 5 (D)0 2 4 5 (A)0 2 3 5 (E)0 2 3
where the 0 represents the open string, the 2 and 5 the first and third positions and 3 and 4 the second position (as if the fiddle would be fretted)

then this version of Man of Constant Sorrow is made from two melodies, first:
(A)5 (E)0 (A)5 3530 (D)5 (A)1 0 (D)5 3 (A)0 3 0 3 (E)1 1 (A)5 3 0 (D)5 (A)0 (D)5
which resembles the melody from the vocal version.
And then:
(A)3 5 (E)0 3 3 0(D)53 0 3 3 5 (E)0 3 3 0(D)53 5
One turn of the song would the consist of first melody repeated two times, second melody and first melody.

Really good rendition. This song makes my dog howl and you had him howling. I should post the video, giving you credit for the music if you want.
