  • If anything it sounds like The Buggles. Hilarious song.

  • No Steve that day, he couldn't make it...George was still George O'Dowyd and handn't yet softened his image...he was SOOO cutting to Rick all day...Some of the extras were from Blitz, the rest, like me, were from the London Art college curcuit.

They promised us a tenner each, but all we got were fish and chips!!!!

    N

  • @nigelhpappy Very interesting, thanks for sharing your memories of it all!

  • Big thank you, I have been looking for this for 32 years (it was filmed in 1979)...I'm teh git in the dark glasses and peaked hat. One day on a double decker bus with B George...unforgetable...even worse...teh video is SO bad...when they were filming us I invisioned something a LOT better.

  • Just really great stuff

  • A very odd single but I loved it! Pleased to find it on here. Thanks!

  • A cringeworthy attempt by a then has-been to cash in on the New Wave trend of the time. Lame-ass progster...

  • OMFG!

    This is RARE FOOTAGE!

George looks so DIVINE! WOW WOW WOW !

    THANK YOU *

  • Just potty

  • Whoa. This song popped into my head and I actually didn't expect to find it on YouTube. I bought the 45 of this all those years ago. I always especially liked the ending - it always seemed so different than the rest of the song. Thanks for posting!

  • The 'Schoolboy' looks remarkably like the kid who did the 'Servowarm' adverts in the newspapers in the late seventies. I wonder what he is doing now ? Heating Engineer perhaps.

  • amazing progg, though Rick rarely sings unfortunately he employs mainly unkown artists just like Alan Parsons. Any way it has nothing to do with modern diso, rap and metal of the today fashists.

  • Rumour has it that the "extras" were regulars at Steve Strange's club "Blitz" - i.e. "Blitz Kids".

I also believe Boy George was in this video - check out the guy on the right side of the screen at 2:08.

Anyone know if I'm right ?

I've been told I should get out more.

  • That certainly looks like Boy George, and notice he is not paying attention to the song. He has that kind of detached-ness

    that goes with his persona.

  • You are right about Boy George etc. Rick mentioned the making of this video on his Planet Rock radio show last night.

  • To me this sounds like nothing but Rick. I honestly have never heard a sound quite like this. It's magical, hilarious, and catchy. 5 stars!

  • Wow, this is oingo boingo-er than oingo boingo. Cool song!

  • It should have been a number one.

  • Rare video but nice!

  • Sounds very much like Devo during the verses to me. Rick rocks. :)

  • Thanks for putting this up - I had never seen it before although I remeber the record very well.

I seem to recall it received a fair amount of air play on the early show on Radio 1 in (very) early 1980 (January I think). I liked it then and 29 years later I like it just as much so it has stood the test of time ! Once again thanks for putting this up.

  • Awesome post...Big time TY...

I still got this single on 7" vinyl somewhere lol...

    Peace out ;)

  • Keep hld of it! I'm sure its worth a mint!

  • This is freaking awesome! THANK YOU!

  • Absolutely fanflippintastic! Oh mate, you are a complete and utter hero for posting this.Well done for finding this holy Grail. I had never actually seen it - I know I would have remembered if TOTP had aired it,but despite what Rick seems to remember,I don't think it charted. This is delightfully odd,and exactly what we would expect to fit the song perfectly.Brilliant.Not only do we glimpse Boy George,by I'm pretty sure Steve Strange in there too. What a treat sir, thankyou very much..

  • It's OK, then? :) I didn't realise it was quite so rare, I taped it off air (Australian TV) in the day and it's been on an old VHS tape ever since. Good thing YouTube is around to share it with the world! Luckily the tape was still in fairly good condition too; can't believe it was nearly 30 years ago...

  • @nearlyoutofideas Good quality for a 30+ year old VHS tape. The blank VHS tapes from the early 80's where always the best quality.
