I hate to shock you but 40 year old european cars didn't handle all that well or stop on a dime either. Lets make sure we are comparing apples to apples. 40 years ago in europe land rover was busy copying the jeep. Jensen was negotiating with chrysler to use the 383 and 440 engines in the intercepter and sunbeam was using the ford 289. The rest were still trying to squeeze big power out of small displacement inline 4 and 6 cylinder engines. Make sure you know what your talking about first.

I don't have a problem with the '69 Pontiac GTO Judge and Trans Am on the list. The '69 GTO Judge or the '69 Trans Am with the Ram Air IV engine were very fast and rare cars! (The rare Ram Air IV was also available in '70 for the GTO and Trans Am.) However, what about the 1970-71 Buick GS/GSX Stage 1 455? The 1970-71 Olds 442 W-30 455? The 1970-71 GTO/Trans AM 455 HO? They all deserve mention. But I do agree with the person who stated that the Shelby Cobra and Corvette are really sports cars.

As far as I know, there were a total of only eight (8) '69 Pontiac Trans Am convertibles, but none of them had Ram Air IV engine. Total production for the '69 Trans Am was 697 and only fifty-five (55) of them (all coupes) had the Ram Air IV engine. I know the standard engine for the coupe was the Ram Air III engine, but for the convertible, I'm not sure. I'm guessing they also had the Ram Air III. Regardless of the engine or body, the '69 Trans Am is a very rare and highly desirable car.

Well maybe not "overall" but 99% of muscle cars comes from the engine bay and the 71-73 Pontiac GTO, Firebird, and trans am could be purchased with the blistering 7.5L V8 (455/ 455 H.O/455 SD) Truly the 440Ci was amazing too as well as the 426 Hemi but size matters when its muscle cars and the 455 never saw it match... All of these cars are amazing anyway!!!

My brothers 70 454 Chevelle got shcooled back in 1980 By a 69 A12 M code Road Runner 4 speed. I was so shocked by it that i started to read up on them and the story behind it turned me into a mopar fan. Just shocked that no mention of it is on hear and if you look up the fifty fastest muscle cars this bad boy sits in third right behind two sports cars IMHO Cobra and the Vette. Chrysler took a standard body car and turned it into the best stock strip & street fighter around look up

I love it, you guys did an awsome job making this list, i agree its really hard to pick just ten, let alone put them in order but you did a masterful job, all of these cars are definatly cut out for top 10 standards. Only difference i would have made is i think the 71' Cuda should be a few notches higher, and i'd like to say the 70' Mach 1 Mustang is one of my favorite cars for looks, but i think you did good adding the Boss for sheer brute force, haha, my hats off to ya.
