  • Did the guy even turn off the traction control? How the hell can you prevent 306 hp spinning up the rear wheels even a tiny bit.

  • @Hatimzaki84 The M Sport just makes you look at your life and think... "If only Id tried harder at school, I could have had a real M car"

  • LOL - is this something like the US Version of: 5-Series on Track??

  • i know its a nicer car but slower than or equal to legacy gt. ouch

  • ohhhh please i can get 5.2 outa mine

  • Come on InsideLine! Is it really that hard to add the Vehicles Factory Horsepower Numbers to your videos??????????????? you tell us the 0-60 and 1/4 mile times, yet fail to tell us the factory horsePower Rating!!!! Can you please start adding that Important information to your videos! (thumbs Up if you agree)

  • @princeofroyalty2 306 bhp

  • this guy hasnt even go the traction control off.

  • this car is great looking except for that smileyface in the bumper, at least they fixed that on the M5 though

  • where is chris bangle!?!? pls come back dude. i want to remain a visual fan of bmws. ...and i hear the steering feel is down a notch from the previous E60. smh.

  • @MrGahandsome no way man! bangle was kicked out because his designs were ridiculous and didnt resemble bmws. i think he ruined the look of the e60 with that lardy back side, stupid spectacle like headlamps and burger shaped tail lights. Eeuuugh. the f10 is a breath of fresh air design wise IMO

  • But this, if you want more power, go to vishnu performance, buy their performance chip EASY 400 HP out of this Turbo I6. Easy.

  • nice machine

  • BMW = BANG MORE WOMEN

  • We are currently trying to buy a 535 or a S80 V8, which is the better pick?

  • @tomriley123 i would personally buy the 535i. its faster, comfy, really nice interior and hasnt given me any or problems at all. butttt if you want fuel economy as well as speed go for a 535d. amazing engine in that one apparently.

  • It looks like a 3 Series going through puberty. A little awkward and not fully grown.

  • i prefer the old one because that was more sporty.

  • I swear Inside Line always gets the worst numbers in every test in comparison to other car magazines/testers. I mean a few tenths of a second don't really make a difference to me but there are better numbers to be had.

  • i expect a 5.2-5.5, 5.9 is a bit off

  • The previous 535i performed worlds better in each and every performance segment. Disappointing, really. Seems like this is a step backwards for BMW.

Oh, and the 95mph trap speed for a 300hp sedan is miserable.

  • @4MATICbenz I noticed the trap speed too.

My first car was a 2000 328i and THAT averaged a 94 MPH trap speed in the 1/4. And it didn't even make 200 horses.

  • @4MATICbenz dude just look at other auto blogs and they usually get much better numbers than these clowns

  • @ptykiller unlucky , already gt a 535 in may

  • e46 and e90 were best, i dont like this design

  • nice track video

  • No wheelspin, that's the way I like it.

  • @lfsracer79 i think this is the xdrive

  • ADD ME

  • So why did BMW decide to go with a single turbo with the 2011, when the previous years had twin turbo?

  • @adogg619 cuz they dun goofed!

  • @adogg619 better fuel efficiency but the single turbo has twin scroll technology (no idea what that it is) but its quite similar to a twin turbo

  • as anybody else surprised at the handling aspect of the car being below the mark?

  • So when does the M5 come out?

  • Great now it look like the current Lexus IS250 and IS350 from the back view. If you remove or cover that cheap looking chrome on the back bumper, it look like the Lexus IS250/350.

Very similar shape. I think this new BMW 5-Series look very similar to the current BMW 3-Series.

  • Looks better than the previous model by a lot. But that's not saying much. Looks pretty solid.

  • Eh...still not a fan of the "new" looks...but this face life it a heck of a lot nicer than the last one that's for sure.

  • @idiotfieldmouse the new bodies dont look like ur typical bmw's huh

  • @jbhsjb09 Not at all...it's as if they got their ideas from Jaguar and then threw in some BMW flair. They need to get back to the E39-esque looks. Refined, with a slight European aggression. Because this new 5 series looks entirely too soft.

  • @idiotfieldmouse true, its simply looking like ur typuical asian sedan

  • eh, the base model is plenty for anyone driving in the city. you don't need more than the comfort of a luxury to sit in traffic on LA roads.

  • Very good car.

  • almost same performance as M37

  • what does with rollout mean on the 0-60 times?

  • @Wheelin98 it means with the car rolling at a constant speed and then accelerating. i think they do it at like 2mph-60mph. but not sure what the starting speed is. it is supposed to provide cars with worse gripping tires a more fair time.

  • @Wheelin98 If you google "rollout 0-60" you can find a detailed description. I don't think youtube allows links.

  • Keep in mind that this car is $55k NEW. In three years it will be a CPO with ~30k mi with a resale of ~$30k.

    I just purchased a CPO 2007 550i for $35k. Sticker was $72k.

    I could NEVER, EVER, afford a $70k+ car. But with a $15k trade-in + $400/mo I can afford it.

If I can trade this car in 5 years for a 3-yr old F10 5-series with >30kmi for another $400/mo car payment, I'LL DO IT!

If you are willing to pay $1k+/mo for a BMW you are retarded. Buy used. ENJOY!!!!!!!

  • @r1100s being a BMW IS retarded...the new BMW facelift just got back ugly again =(

  • @devyvalentino this is not a facelift you idiot and it looks awesome. alot of people didn't like the old 5 series

  • @ThePhiltastic im sorry i forgot to put facedown because looks like a 3 series.... the previous body looked JUST RIGHT! bad move by BMW with this model... and as you read the comments more people feel the same as me

  • @devyvalentino thats why its completely sold out with a huge waiting list...

  • @ScUDeRiA197 tell me about it.....I am one of those on that waiting list. 4 months.....

  • @r1100s Bmw dont keep their resale value that high at all, only when brand new.

  • Nice car but does anyone else think it sounds like a vacum cleaner being turned on?

  • very very very nice car!

    I love this!!!!!!!!!

    Like+favo:D<33333333

  • First the acceleration: it's called turbo lag. M-B takes the old school American approach to acceleration. The body roll: Yes, this is not typical BMW, but the typical 5series buyer doesn't go for a blast on the twisties. Previous 5's have been too firm for their (customer) tastes. Could they find tires that can grip and not scream in Dolby Surround? I'm quite sure they will offer a sport pack for it, but also, this is a shortened 7 series platform, not a bigger 3 series. Give me the M5.

  • wow those are VERRY unimpressive numbers from a turbo 6 cylinder Mercedes does just as good if not better with a naturally aspirated V6

  • WOW those are HORRIBLE numbers for a car that cost 55K+ (and that's the entry level with no options)

  • @flawns entry level?

  • @SammerJammer sorry I should have complete that....entry level for the 5 series, cheapest 5 series they got is 45K 528i so its slower than the 55k 535i. for a car that the base is 55k (before taxes) cost that much and making those numbers :( thats sad for a bimmer

  • Another appalling video from Edmunds testing a 5 door family car in totally the wrong way in the wrong environment. Who the fuck is the director of these clowns?

  • @StuRaz Looks like a four door to me.

  • @ericdlp Yes but they're called a 5 door for having a boot/trunk. I don't really know why but they are.

  • @StuRaz in some countries these cars are driven like this on a day to day basis :-)

  • @m42rus Damn Skippy!!! I mean its a Bimmer!! Its got sport in its DNA.

  • Comment removed

  • @StuRaz What it shows in cold hard numbers is that this FOUR door family sedan is probably a better performer than whatever you drive. People don't always care for a full review. What are your suggestions for "testing"? How well a baby seat fits? How many bags of groceries can fit in the trunk? It's highway mileage on a long, straight, flat road? Turning radius? If you're implying that family sedans are slow and boring, check the 0-60 times or 60-0 distances of the last few cars you've owned.

  • @bhegg Ironically I drive a F10 530d, the dealer demonstrator from where I work. As for the rest of your braindead comment - I have no problem with journalists throwing in numbers like these but they're not the most important thing about a car like this that will almost certainly never see a racing track and ignored every single detail that potential customers for this car would care about. If it was showing the advantages of the M sport pack fine, but it doesn't.

    You have no argument.

  • @StuRaz LOL. Did you just say, "racing track"!? Clearly, the words of a diesel, family sedan owner.

  • @bhegg Well in what environment are these numbers significant in? Oh yeah, a racing track. And I don't own one, it's the dealer demo that I drive round in to promote the car, all car salesmen do that in all known new car dealerships (I'm not a salesman though).

Clearly the words of someone who can't read and trying to save face.

  • @StuRaz Not really "trying to save face" simply pointing out the fact that you awkwardly said "racing track" as if by some 60 yr old dude that's not really an enthusiast.

As to my 1st post addressing your asinine comments, I said "the cars you own". Read closer next time, dumb-dumb. Therefore, bringing up the demo car which you don't own in an attempt to defend yourself, wasn't real effective. You're not making much sense at this point...getting evermore entertaining, frankly. Go on, please.

  • @bhegg I don't need to defend myself, I'm saying that this video is pointless and utterly irrelevant and it is. You're not making sense and I don't even have a clue what your argument is anymore. You can wallow in denial and arrogance if you wish but you're the one mindlessly waffling away without point or purpose. So do one.

  • @StuRaz "So do one." Hm, not sure about that one, sorry. Performance numbers are always relevant my friend. There, I spelled it out for you. Good day.

  • @bhegg Did I say they weren't or did I say they were not as relevant in a car like this? There, I spelled it out for you? Got it yet?

  • @StuRaz

I would agree with that, but this is a BMW, driving characteristics are #1 point of a BMW.

  • @atami210 These don't tell you how it drives though. BMW like to use the phrase "joy is inspiration", don't get any idea of that from this.

  • @StuRaz

It doesn't, but you have an idea of the performance it gives you.

  • @atami210 Suppose it does up to a point. Personally I wouldn't buy this anyway, I'd go for the '35 or '40 diesel.

  • @StuRaz

Nah I would never go for a diesel personally, if I were to buy this car, I would probably go for this M5 :P

  • @atami210 BMW's top end diesel engines are recognised as the best in the world, they're brilliant I tell you.

The F10 M5 isn't here yet and the E60 has gone out of production, but yeah it should be epic when it turns up. I'll miss the V10 though.

  • @StuRaz

I know the new BMW, Merc, Audi disel engines are great, but I like my engines to rev past 6000, and not have that still faint diesel noise, just my preference pretty much.

  • @atami210 If only you could afford a new BMW like a 5 Series or an M5.....

  • @colderbeer

PS: You don't even know my name, and you are making assumptions.

And for the record, I have an E92 M3 and I occasionally have an X5M.

  • @atami210 What good is an X5M? Why do you have it, and why do you like it?

  • @colderbeer

I live in Canada so 400+hp to the rear wheels only is a bad idea. The X5M is pretty good in snow/ice with the proper tires, so thats what I use in the winter. And I like it because I can beat about 90% of the cars off the line.

PS: Its my dads car, I just take it when the roads are bad or the weather is bad.

  • @atami210 Gotcha...you sound like a man with a plan. I favor the cars, and not the SUVs. Enjoy....

  • @colderbeer

I favor the cars too, but I rather not get stuck in the snow....

  • @StuRaz you don't get it EVERY test magazine does full road tests and track tests of all the vechles they drice so consumers can get reviews. Because there are some of us who not only drive our cars as daily drivers but also as toys or canyon runners on the weekends

  • @Domman56 Ah dear, yet another utterly dumb reply. Where is the full road test? I'm seeing a 4 door car being thrashed around a skid pan and blazing through a 1/4 mile marker, that's your idea of a full test? I bet 0.005% of a 535i's customer base won't take it to a track anyway. And where is the handling feedback? This video doesn't tell you anything and can be run by anyone, you don't need any car know how, insight or talent to make a pointless video like this.

  • @StuRaz It's a BMW, it's made to perform.

  • @kris1991 I've been over this about 3 times, see previous comments.

  • @StuRaz How is that "totally in the wrong way"? The 535i is far more than a "family car". Your statement is more befitting of a Buick or Toyota sedan. Yeh, I'm sure if given the chance you'd make a car performance data video something reminiscent of a Scorcese movie.

  • @StuRaz You're the first person to every seriously call a 5-series a "family car"

    Congrats!

  • @toyotas2006 It's not a sports car, super car, hyper car, SUV, super mini, hatchback, hot hatch, MPV, 4X4, Lorry, van, limo...

So yes it is a family car.

  • @StuRaz

You made sure to leave out luxury car

  • @StuRaz Hahaha what makes you think a soccer mom drives a 5 Series. It's a luxury sport sedan, it can accomplish all of the things (including the lame ass one sided look you have at it) in a ton of environments. Anyway most of the numbers you see will be subjective.

  • @7477238 What makes you think a track day nerd is gonna take this to a track? I actually drive an F10 530d M Sport for work.

  • Yawn, even though it's new there's nothing exciting about it. Send it back.

  • Bit disappointed with the acceleration times. I was hoping for 5.5 0-60 and under 14 sec 1/4. Also .84g is disappointing too. Should be close to .90

  • The body does roll quite a bit on the slalom.

  • The car is beautiful, way better than the previous generation. I'm gonna have to go test drive one, but haven't heard anything good about it's steering. You can see in the slalom it rolls a bit more than (I think) a BMW should.

  • what a boring car.

  • I miss Chris Bangle and his controversial designs.

  • I love this car. Much more beautiful than the previous 5.

  • such a boring car, i saw one the other day and for a new car it didnt stand out at all...looked like 3 years old or something

  • its so ugly.... wtf did they do with it ?

  • @Popielniczka69 i belive the same , the previous was pretty ... but this depends on each person

  • @AdrianosFidi

    Previous one was beautifull ...

  • same acceleration you also get from 330i which has 80% of the price

  • @AdrianosFidi um yeah but a 5 series is a far larger car in terms of interior space/boot it also has a few more high end features and is considered more of a luxury vehicle overall

  • @AdrianosFidi Who worries about the price at this level.

  • @EnigmaNZ1 is about 10k which could be used on 10 vacantions with the family using 330i for example

  • I have been a mercedes man for the last 10 years of my life, until very recently i convert myself to a BMW, because of this magnificent F10, stylish, elegant, a proper mid-size sedan. cannot believe i said this.

  • I love the sound of that camera in 0:57

  • IT WAS FASTER IN ALL SEGMENTS OF THIS TEST (EXCEPT BREAKING OF COURS) THAN THE AUDI A6 OR MERCEDES E550

  • who says this car isn't as fast or sporty as the old onw fails. THE OLD M5 WASN'T MUCh QUICKER AROUND THE SLALOM. ONLY 5mph and it's an m5!!!

  • Comment removed

  • BMW>Audi>Mercedes

  • @ThePhiltastic Mercedes>Audi>Bmw

  • It looks nice, but something about the new design makes it look somewhat cheaper than the older 5 series.

  • ferrari would still beat it ....!

  • @JohnAntonyFortune

    one comparable to it?

  • I've got one word for this car: UGLY! The previous design wasn't the prettiest, but it looked a lot better than this.

  • @sdlausen haha that's what your mother said when you were born. his brother is not pretty, but he looks Ugly as FUCK. ahhahahahha

  • i dont understand this car... they went a step back with the design and the performance at the same time smh

  • it looks a lot better than the old model. :)

  • It looks like a bigger 5 series. The tails on the past 7 series were always unique this just looks like a 7 series or that 2 door BMW's tails.

I don't know about the suspension I drove an 07 7 series last month and an 00 S500 the S500 rode way better it was like driving on air cause of the ABC suspension. The 7 series was 7 years newer and was beat by the S500's suspension.

the driver at 0:49 looks like a total douche.

  • @zoemayne I have a 2001 7-series and it drives like a dream. I drove the last-generation S-class, and although it's a great ride, it doesn't compare to the 7-series, in my opinion.

  • @zoemayne

"the driver at 0:49 looks like a total douche"

I thought the same thing, must be the sunglasses.

  • good numbers. How much does it cost? You can always put some coilovers to improve the handling

  • this car is luxury first with a bit of sportyness. i dont see why everyone was expecting better numbers.

  • Those numbers are alright but I wish that the 0-60, slalom, and skid pad had better numbers. I did agree with the 110ft stopping distance.

  • I wonder why BMW doesn't do better? JD Power rates Lexus GS much higher in quality and reliability

  • i believe the 60 - 0 should be the same as an actual race car on regular cars. as in every car should have them instead of your unique car

  • I was hoping for better results /; I guess we'll have to stick to M5s..

  • @Scorp969 Me too! These numbers were a little on the disappointing side.

  • it's just a low- end 5 series. it's still performance fine. You want great numbers, get an M5

  • @doggieboy773a "Low-end" bmw is the 528i with a N/A Inline 6

  • @doggieboy773a I'm familiar with the 5-series and their engine range of the 528i through the M5, The 535i isn't exactly "low- end" and I know the numbers are competitive but they just aren't special within the class and I haven't driven this 5-series yet but I have heard it has lost some of its performance element.

  • thuangel662 its not like that the v8 and m5 could have dif ratios and the engine runs a different way so it could be only 5 sec or less and i dont think the m5 can get lower than 4 sec around mid 4 or higher because its not light and a sls naturally asperated v8 goes in 3.6sec now thats talent for makin a engine like that.

  • looks like a lexus from the back

  • BMW has gone soft, This is just mini 7series. I will take A6 instead.

  • @racewithferrari for real bro

  • @racewithferrari tha a6 has been the same car for almost 10 years now and looks plain and ugly as fuck,

  • @ThePhiltastic Its keep on improving for 10 years, thats why it beat the shit out of BMW in C&D comparo twice!!

  • @racewithferrari what is c&d??? audi builds the most boring cars on this planet

  • @ThePhiltastic

"audi builds the most boring cars on this planet"

I disagree. I think Audis have timeless good looks and are fun to drive. You want a boring car? Think toyota. Now those are boring piece of shit cars.

  • @ThePhiltastic CARANDDRIVER

  • @racewithferrari A6 isn't really that good. Old A6 was better and the new one will be here soon. I would wait. Furthermore, the current A6 is the last Audi sedan using the old quattro system which is unimpressive compared to the new one.

Also, this apparently isn't 5-series with M suspension. Give it some time.

  • pretty good numbers for the I6

so the V8 0-60 is probably gonna be just under 5 seconds

and the M5 is gonna probably be in the low 4's or maybe under 4 seconds!!

can't wait its gonna be EPIC!!

  • Wow.... and what about this car makes it worth it's price tag?

  • Awesome!

  • This car looks like shittt in pics and videos. but when i saw it in person for the first time, i just could blink. It looked sexy, i hope it looks the samet o me the next time i see it.

  • @AliGhanizad my dad and me drive it at a BMW track event here in Toronto. Its was amazing! The car looks hot, handled good in regular mode and really great in sport mode (hopefully they used it)

  • Based on the 7 series thats why its soo big and fat

  • @TheVtieg6 based on 7 series ? shut up if you have no idea what you talking about.

  • @ivantnt26

Do your research its based on the old 7 series

  • This won't even compare to the new M5 wen it comes out!!! Was there any point in testing it :S

  • @AliRacerStreet09 More people will probably buy this or the 550i, so yes :) Plus seeing this beauty float across the surface is totally worth it.

    M5 will be sick though
