  • All I can say is Jeff Buckley, :)

  • @CheeseIsHxC Actually Jeff was her boyfriend

  • @dandyboy1 I was wondering what the connection to Jeff was.

  • This song sends shivers up my spine, especially the vocal harmonies in the chorus . . . <3

  • For me to like any music, I gotta feel it, it must seems authentic, not a preocessed product to entertain, that's the border between marketing and art. I get that feeling from Joan. I'd like to invite all you people with good taste in music to check my band's music - Mob of God - on this channel. We're just looking to be heard by people that keep it real. We try to keep it open about influences, there are already too many conventions in the world. All visits are highly appreciated. Thanks.

  • @mobofg I totally agree with your comment .. I m shifting to Mod Of God right now and let you know,

  • I dont like that song that much. Kind of a chaos... (IN MY OPINION!!).

That doesnt mean that i have a bad musictaste or something - i am just a person who dont like that song...

  • Come and see our acoustic session of Joan !

    2 wonderfull songs !

  • wow, i forgot about her. played this album to death when it came out

  • not bad.......but how's difficult today being original and peculiar etc....

mostly the indie stuff sounds all the same and after all is quite boring...at least she sings a lil' bit bettere than the average indie f;singers!

  • This video reminds me of Fellini movies...

  • This chick has fucking terrible taste. I just looked her up on amazon and the songs she chose to cover are some of the most terrible songs I have ever heard in my entire life. It's like she read my mind and culled all the songs most worthy of my enmity.

  • You might as well say that Johnny Rotten can't sing or that Screamo bands are wasting their time. People cannot see infra-red but it is still there.

  • love her voice and lyrics!!! no wonder she dated Jeff Buckley. Talent attracts talent!

  • Everytime that "White Lace" part comes up, I have to drop everything I'm doing and do that foot thing.

I saw her open up for Neko Case at the Nokia Theater. Amazing show.

  • super!

  • two things: 1) what a strange video for such an amazing song and 2) i don't notice hairy armpits? even if i did, who cares

  • @onacruise i don't care. her music is awesome.

  • They say this song is about Jeff Buckley. She sounds really mean. I love the song but it feels like she's telling off the guy.

  • This is a MASSIVE tune

  • Poland->Wroclaw is waiting :)

  • I love this song! I love Joan!!

  • I love this interesting music - awesome! It's special but it's cool. Why not just accept that some people are original, and does something fantastic on their own :) Keep on the good work!

  • You can hear the Jeff Buckley influence

  • i like the yes yes...

  • Your channel comments say it all

  • I saw her last night in concert. She has an absolutely stunning voice and she is a fabulous musician. I had never heard of her before. She was supporting Rufus Wainwright's concert and I thought I was going to want her to shut up but I was actually moved to tears by one song called "The Human Condition" - beautiful beyond belief!

  • pretty pretty lady

  • what do hairy armpits have to do with it? Joan as Policewoman rocks

  • Isn't it just damn good to still have some inventiveness and originality in music?

  • hairy armpits or not, she's great-

  • Does she have really hairy arm pits in this vid??? Great song though.

  • When I listen to Joan I hear a black woman's soul singing.

  • Yeah.

  • I hear a sexy charming rocking white lady singing in the first place

  • Way to not be poetic. :P

  • lol

  • Joan in her's best moments.

  • hahahahaha nice one mate

  • LIGHTER!!

  • I love this song, love JAPW but what a crap video! doesn't do it justice and doesn't fit the song at all :(

  • qualcuno ha una traduzione del testo in italiano? grazie

  • se non l'hai trovata te la traduco io.

  • Love this! Thank you

  • i heart joan :)

I'm really in love with that acoustic version at the moment xx

  • joan è una dea incoronata!

  • i'm going to see her at the sage on friday i 'm really so exited

  • wow, this is such a beautiful song. I used to stay up watching MTV 120 minutes hoping to catch this song again

  • Great song!

  • mooi

  • I'm amazed by her creativity and expression in this video. Wonderful enrichment

  • I bought this album after stumbling upon her name reading a Jeff Buckley article. All I have to say is wow... wow... she's incredible!

  • this one sets to music that it is really lovely!!! I do not manage to stop hearing...

of the will of making love forever..

  • tv on the radio and the national

  • bellissima

  • "Aint it great to see someone doing something

totally opposite to the Bullshit artistry Big

Bling Same Old Stale Boring music we get brainwashed by on MTV and other Bullshit artist Tv stations and radio. It's a breath of

musical fresh air to hear Joan as Policewoman and Arcade Fire and other lesser known artists

doing their own thing and not worrying about conforming to the fashion of the day which all

the 'So Called Big Mega stars'-"Bullshit Artists" seem to do ! "

  • ok, i need to have sex now.

  • I only discovered this song today, man, the more i hear it, the more i'm falling in love with it. Haha, i see some people think she has hairy armpits...i just think it's a shadow.

  • You just have to love this song! Video ist great, too. Thanks for uploading!

  • spiritual experience hearing this song

  • I agree...

  • I watch it every day now...and sing it on the tube, bus, when I take shower, the song stuck to me for now and forever..

  • @cmysquat amen!

  • it think shes singing to jeff buckley...

  • alright man (e746x) thought id just send a little message wondering why a 54 year old man would call a 25 year old for having an opinion an idiot. you seem to have alot of good music on youre site so to show such an immature response to a musical observation is dumb founding, dumb ass.

  • Darkley beautifull song, very smashing pumpkins in some respects. Come people and check out some of my tunes, i think youll like : ) Gracious !

  • actually, i think she sounds more like beth orton in this song.

  • me encanta!

  • Joan is my Coney Island Baby

  • Bitten from Feist? I don't think so, JAPW has been around a long long time. I love Feist but I see no real similarities except they are women. Jeez. Haters.

  • I'd really have to say, many overlooked the fact she probably did this as a response for the song "everybody here wants you" from Jeff Buckley. He wrote that song for Joan. I also thought it was beautiful how at the end she shows the water for a few seconds, I thought that was her dedication to Jeff, since he drowned, than someone comes and blows out the torch and it ends. Made me think, she couldn't be his eternal flame anymore cause he died. Actually, it is quite a beautiful song. RIP JEFF.

  • Hi Italianbella0684! I exactly think the same, except the fact that I think maybe she can't be his eternal flame bcse she must go on her own life, she must goes on living. She could spend her whole life crying, but after a time of grieving, she decides to go on living and therefore cannot be his eternal flame. Well this is a very beautiful song;

  • Alot like Feist, although incredibly good. I mean, nothing bad with getting inspired by other artists.

  • You have the right not to like her music, but don't insult her !!!!!!! I guess, YOU are not a bimbo! you jealous.

  • I can tell Jeff inspired her. Cool...Yet- something about this seems mimiced from Feist...Does any1 else notice this?

  • The more I listen to this song the more I love it!

Love her too, she has such an unique voice

  • i absolutely love this song. the video could have been better though. i think it's cute she wrote this song about jeff. i love them both. yay joan!

  • PS: Adam - The Conservatory doesn't have Masters of Music - only in Historical Performance. William Rothstein has been very outspoken against adding a second masters. A man your age who "attended" Oberlin should know that!

  • FANTASTIC!!!

  • nice as

  • I LOVE THIS SONG!!!

    AMAZING VIDEO!!!

  • she is really nice!

    i love this song:)

  • has she covered any jeff buckley songs?

  • This songs flame is eternal beautiful!

  • her singing sucks? wake up and learn to listen. otherwise go back to hannah montana...

  • @Febels amen!

  • hice un corto, el que tenga ganas, pase por mi cuenta y lo mira

dura 3 min aprox. una ganga

  • really good great video aswell

  • I Love Joan, she reminds me of a character from a Tama Janovitz novel

  • wauw she's so beautiful..and the song is great

  • stop

  • Well, then congratulations, Your Majesty!

  • If you don't like her, what are you doing there? Pfffffff !

  • Are you serious?? Love her voice !!

  • lol, okay I'm not taking crazy pills either.....WTF is up with her saying "yes yes" in "talking" mode....it's so cacophonous it disturbs the soul.

  • Coney Island is in the house!!!!

  • Her music has become the soundtrack to so many moments in my life.

  • Love the chorus.

  • This song is utterly beautiful. But she has really hairy armpits.

  • Hey, what's wrong with nature?

  • Right, so, the song... It's beautiful.

  • This whole album is a real grower,it's already become a soundtrack to a whole year. She's great live as well, real passion and energy.

  • What song is this, i've never heard it before.

  • Adam you're a dick man, Joan is rad.

  • Heheh Adam you really do make a fool of yourself. "Oooh I have a Masters from Oberlin". So what? I have two degrees and a post grad from a proper school but I would never presume to tell anyone what was good music. As for your insults, the 'cousin-humping, ass-backwards kick' shows you up for the hardly sophisticated chip-shoulder that really didn't learn 'proper English before you choose to engage yourself in a debate'.

Laughing at you, not with you ;)

  • You are right that the comments page exists for both good and bad comments but "the most talentless singer wannabe. WTF was that? My dog can sing better than this."

Very unconstructive, you won't get respect by comparing singers to animals, thats why people have jumped on your back =)

The fact you have a masters in music doesnt necessarily mean you are right or wrong.

  • well adam.. i happen to only be an eleventh grader but i study at one of the top performing arts schools under the instruction of one of the worlds best music performer and educator. i just happened to be skimming through these comments and noticed the little feud between you two. i agree that you have your opinions, but because you have a masters in music doesnt exactly mean that your opinion is always correct.

  • im assuming that you would say led zeppelin is just shit. right'?...well if you happen to then you just suck. i can say , and im sure other professionals would say that this band has some talent.considering the shit on the radios these days.

  • these indie bands are whats keeping good music alive. im assuming that you would say led zeppelin is just shit. right'?...well if you happen to then you just suck. i can say , and im sure other professionals would say that this band has some talent.

  • While we have different opinions on this chick's "talent", I can tell you that Led Zeppelin rocks! They are awesome and very talented. Take a look at some of their sheet music, and you'll see that they are well written and the instrumentation requires a degree of talent. They Rock!

  • Yeah, Led Zeppelin do rock, but what do they have to do with this video?

  • considering the shit on the radios these days.how often do you hear ray charles, or pat metheny on the radio. id have to guess your answer would be not so much. you may not like this type of music too much but remember alot of it is whats keeping the talented roots and cultures alive.

  • Hey Adam - FYI, as I posted elsewhere, Oberlin Conservatory doesn't offer masters in music - only Historical Performance. That allows conservatory faculty to focus on undergrads - a big differentiator for a school where, unlike you, people actually do their homework. Scurry on now, I think your mother's calling you to dinner.

  • hey adam, typical fuckhead response from an obviuos fuckhead with no idea about music. p.s. u r a definate fuckead

  • no no

    :-(

  • yes yes

    :-)

  • So very beautiful...

  • Sounds a little like Beth Orton.

  • also reminds me of jane siberry

  • Hadn't seen the Jane Siberry (er, Essa now?) connection, but absolutely. Anyone who looks internally and sings so poignantly... it's hardly a surprise. I love them both. I think this is a conversation she's still having with Jeff Buckley. There are too many parallels with his death in this song in particular for it not to be. And his own 'Everybody here wants you' is written for her. What a beautiful conversation, sad too but also overwhelmingly of love. I'm a sucker for real romance.

    Nick

  • i now have a soft spot for you nick.happy new year. from australia

  • That was brilliant. I believe I may catch her show at the Tin Angel.

  • She's great !

  • Hi - thought you might like this - go to my link and look for Real Life.

It is unfinished - a hard song to do since I love it so much. Your opinion?

  • This song is fantastic, what album does it come from?

  • her new one

  • don't think this is about jeff

  • Hm...I've wondered what Joan's been up to the last few years. I was a big Dambuilders fan, and Joan was always cool to me when I'd see them in concert. But this is pretty different from what she used to do. I'm hoping it grows on me.

  • love the armpits !!!! more please !!!

  • bald dudes are sooo...sooo... sparkley... neat :D

  • what a woman...

  • check out more videos directed by Leah Meyerhoff here:

    LeahMeyerhoff(dot)com

  • wow! This is one of the best videos I've seen all week!

  • she wrote this song for jeffrey right?

is she trying 2 say sumthing?

    i don really get it..or do i??

  • I could be wrong, but what I think she's trying to say is that she loves and misses him, but she ultimately has to move on with her life and can't be sad about his absence forever.

  • I luv this song and the album as well. Not so sure on Joans armpit hair tho!

  • she's the statue of liberty

  • re: the armpit hair i mean

  • what's up with the armpit hair?!

  • i saw it to , that was weird

  • Joan's armpit hair looks very sexy and exotic

  • great song; great voice ;great vide;nice...

  • Have a great day my Tae-chan, I miss you so much... This song is for u darling.

  • I'm glad to finally see some JAPW stuff on here. Thanx so much for posting.

  • Good song, but..the video is not good.. re-do-it please, or contact me

  • Anyone who can send this song to me? please.

    xx

  • I believe Joan wrote this song for Jeff Buckley.

  • yah.. that's right.

  • i had a feeling she did, only because the title "eternal flame" is similar to the title of one of jeff's songs, "eternal life"

  • sound great ;-)
