The crumbled road and washed-away beach homes were primarily in Rodanthe, where Irene roiled and boiled for hours on end before pushing north.
A good bit of the flooding you see was not caused by the ocean, but by the sounds north of Hatteras Island. It doesn't usually happen that way, which is why so many people were caught by surprise.
Such destruction! I am so so sad for the people of the Outer Banks. Praying for the strength and hope that comes after the storm through faith in Christ.
