Hello folks I hope that I can provide some minor insight. I have used the e72 to navigate in France, Italy, Malaysia and Singapore.

I was unable to use the gps without a sim card. I am not sure why, but you will need a sim card. Very frustrating. You don't need wifi to connect to the GPS.

GPS lock is extremely slow to impossible in the offline mode. My time is worth more so I spend the few cents for the A-GPS but you should be able to navigate in offline mode.

Hi..i am from kuala lumpur malaysia.I also had a same problem with you,i cannot use the ovi maps application and as i concern,it is free even we're using it offline.i already register in ovimaps website,also doesnt work.PLEASE HELP ME ON THIS.I bought nokia E72 cause of this features,but i cannot use it....So disappointing.My husband using the 5800express music and it also had ovi maps features,1st time he bought the phone,he directly can use the ovi maps offline,how come?PLEASE HELP ME....

@nadiafalsya Registering is allows you access to mynokia but have you downloaded the maps to your computer and the sync your phone to it? You will need to get the Nokia Map loader from the Nokia website then choose the map you want and download it into your phone via your computer. The Malaysia/Singapore map is a few hundred MB so it will take a while on the internet. Make sure the your phone has a micro SD memory otherwise you will run out of memory. Save it into the micro SD.

hi there i have wht u may call a very stupid question regarding the same gps ....

my question is that if i have no sim connectivity and no wifi is it possible to use gps on nokia e72 cause every time i try it starts asking about the connectivity..
