i had the Zoom H1 since forever, how did i not see this, and i was killing myself trying to sync the audio wasting hours everytime.
Great post.but i have a question, in a silent room it is picking up alot of ambience even though low cut is off, and auto level is off and the input level is set to 50%...what am i doing wrong.?
Hi, thanks for this fool-proof demonstration. I just wonder if you know that you can do this with any portable recorder, such as a tascam dr-05, or is there anything special with zoom h1 that allows to use only its mics? (Apart from its small size that allows mounting, too).
hey i just got a zoom h1 and was wondering i want to plug it in to my phone smartphone and record a phone call from the zoom do u know how i would do that?
@Gortess I don't want to keep buying batteries too. However, after h1 is updated to 2.0 and powered through usb, will i be able to use the setup shown in this video? connecting camera with 3.5 mm cable?
@sakahari powering through usb is only available if you are recording through usb. meaning unless you are using your h1 as a pc mic, you need to keep buying batteries. that being said, investing in a good set of rechargeables and re charger might not be a bad idea. Saw a set today that only cost 14 bucks.
Your video and info is great. I do however have another question, or rather let me pose it this way. So if I were also to hook headphones to the mic on the right side I would then connect the other end to the earphone port in my video camera, well now that I've written this, maybe I shouldn't have, it sounds so obvious, where else could I have. The problem is that I think I had it hooked up differently h1 to the mic port on the camera, Also, you see no need for head phones?recording live music
@c7i6abc Ps, As obvious as that sounds, that's not the way it works. I still haven't figured it out. I was quite sure the guy at Henry's told me to connect the h1 to the right side of the mic and the headphones to the left where you said to connect the mic. I'll let you know once I get this worked out. tks
I was wondering what microphone input volume I should put the mic at, the output volume from the mic to the dslr and the dslr's volume. I just wanted to get the bet end result withought any bad fuzz noises or strange sounds.
I have the canon 60d and the zoom h1. now can i use the same method with the canon 60d? also i have a 7in, led monitor attaahced to my 6od. can I use the same method but plug my earphone to the led monitor that's plugged in to the 60d to hear what my 60d is hearing and recording? Please reply soon. Thanx for your advice dude.
Hey man, I have some serious problems, I have got the SAME chord as you and the Zoom H1. I have the Canon 60D plugged the chord to the camera and mic. But I don't get a smooth and crisp audio output. I get rather PRSHHH (Ocean Sound) and I need help.
*Breath* Ok. This vieo was definitely one of your best videos ever. Everything was really crisp clean and well organized. You covered so many aspects and yeah... this was epic. LIke, Tweeted, and favorited.
Can you give me the link to the cable you bought to do this with?

The audio on a H1 sounds much better when used alone for syncing afterwards.. with manual level so the background doesnt fluctuate.

Can I use the H1 just like the Blue Snowball by plugging it into the USB port and act as a normal USB mic (without the battery) ?
antonioreyes1987 2 months ago
@antonioreyes1987 yes, but you need to update the firmware first. go to youtubecom/knoptop for instructions
