I think that all videos, that fall within freedom of speech, should be allowed. I am not clear on what is illegal harassment and what is just rude and idiotic criticism, but I know that what youtube thinks is bad is fucking fine. I actually think that Youtube should allow porn, but only if you get an account and you say you are 18, can you view anything pornographic. Why not? You-tubes revenue would skyrocket! directors should be able to flag their own entries as adult with a 'proceed' button on the screen that the viewer has to click before the video uploads onto the viewers computer. i think that would protect youtube from legal any liability for content.

When it all cuts down to it as sad as it may seem is that YouTube doesn't really give a damned about anyone but what the majority wants (corporations in particular). And the majority of it's users don't want people who disagree with them or anyone or their beliefs and some are willing to go to great lengths to see their views are enforced on others. From what I can see you are really alone and can't count on YouTube for anything. You need to look out for yourself and your own channel as well.
If you are flagging someone just because you disagree with them, that's the most cowardly way of showing them that they are right and you can't argue your side.
I think they also need to improve this new format such that I can access the rating button without switching to another view. Likely listed under "info", but it only ever worked once in all the vid's I've seen.
I agree that Youtube is a priveledge I enjoy a great deal. I agree that flagging has been given the power of bullets, when it should only have been given the power of pickets, or warning labels. And there may be merit to the idea that a video's rating activities system should not be accesible till 100% of the video is run.
one small change that would be helpful would be if you were not allowed to flag, rate or comment until the video is done playing. I suppose they could still script votebot's, but it would at least slow them down. slow down the mobs too. I just think it's only fair, if you are going to flag, rate, or comment you should at least watch the whole video.

YouTube, no matter how or why it happened, became popular, and thus a buttload of people visit the site, and where there are people, there are complete idiots. Most of the "innocent" features meant for parents and children, (and the ESRB...) are way too easily exploited as well. I mean who legitimately flags?

What's wrong with YT? Profanity. Racism. Hate-speech disguised as freedom of speech. People like gorilla911 who make outrageous claims based on factual errors, but never correct them and people believe him because they're too lazy to check. I understand curse words to some extend but using them in every video you make is really not necessary.
Since youtube is in essence a forum with added video features, i don't know why youtube doesn't have moderators. They could perhaps setup a system where users can apply, for moderator status. On temporary basis would be nice. The incentive could be something like ... e.g. moderate 50 video's and you get a minute added to your maximum video length or something. Video boards are still in their infancy , it took a while before people realised they needed moderators on forums.
I have always hated the fact that you have to search through all the comments just to reply to someones comment they sent you. As well YT has always been attracted trolls and assholes. I pretty much have lost any interest in this site and with all the copyright crap it seems like it has taken a nose dive even when searching for music. Accusing me of sexually abusing children is a hate video that puts my life at risk and puts my children's health in danger. My daughter does in fact watch my videos, I even bought her a computer so she could. People talk about me, I reply, Patrick hates that so says he'll continue until I don't. When it all cuts down to it as sad as it may seem is that YouTube doesn't really give a damned about anyone but what the majority wants (corporations in particular). And the majority of it's users don't want people who disagree with them or anyone or their beliefs and some are willing to go to great lengths to see their views are enforced on others. From what I can see you are really alone and can't count on YouTube for anything. You need to look out for yourself and your own channel as well.

I agree that Youtube is a priveledge I enjoy a great deal. I agree that flagging has been given the power of bullets, when it should only have been given the power of pickets, or warning labels. And there may be merit to the idea that a video's rating activities system should not be accesible till 100% of the video is run.

one small change that would be helpful would be if you were not allowed to flag, rate or comment until the video is done playing. I suppose they could still script votebot's, but it would at least slow them down. slow down the mobs too. I just think it's only fair, if you are going to flag, rate, or comment you should at least watch the whole video.

-vids that are featured 99.99% of the time are stupid.
-the things that you've said are wrong with it.
-you don't always find the thing you're searching for.
-comments are limited in terms of space and the number one posts
-anyone w/ a new youtube account cant post a vid that's longer than 10 min.

The solution shouldn't be censorship of views that may hurt other peoples feelings or they find abhorrent. I find Islam abhorrent, but I wouldnt be for censoring Muslims. Certain types of political speech, dialogue etc should perhaps be relegated to adults only sections. I know this would work about as good as stopping kids getting at porn online, but it's the human spirit on the line here.

YouTube, no matter how or why it happened, became popular, and thus a buttload of people visit the site, and where there are people, there are complete idiots. What I personally can't stand on YT is people who just are angry and bitter all the time. Even TJ acts like that sometimes. It's like, ok, you've got something you want to get off your chest. But when each one of your videos is made in this tone and all you do is whine and make sarcastic remarks, it gets really tired after a while. I know this is hugely popular atm.

Since youtube is in essence a forum with added video features, i don't know why youtube doesn't have moderators. They could perhaps setup a system where users can apply, for moderator status. On temporary basis would be nice. The incentive could be something like ... e.g. moderate 50 video's and you get a minute added to your maximum video length or something. Video boards are still in their infancy , it took a while before people realised they needed moderators on forums.

I have always hated the fact that you have to search through all the comments just to reply to someones comment they sent you. As well YT has always been attracted trolls and assholes. I pretty much have lost any interest in this site and with all the copyright crap it seems like it has taken a nose dive even when searching for music.
