@Camaromandave98 I would much rather turbo a 4 cyl than to ever think of swaping a heavier engine into a car like that. Especially if it were an ecotec! Not to say that a 3.8 swap wouldn't be cool, I just think after everything is all said and done, a turbo 4 would be more fun and cost effective in the long run :)
got a 04 sunfire comes with 140hp standerd 1st thing is if i have a 140hp car with a shift stick and this guy im racing has a 170hp car i can still beat him see as driving i can change gears faster then him but if he has a stick shift then im fucked basicly enless i modded my sunfire

I just dynoed my car again, yesterday, after i got a cold air intake....with all my mods my car is putting out 185HP with 211 torque..that what the dyno says...
then no. if your 0-60 is so slow you are not at 185 and 211. As my car stock with 200hp and 142tq to the crank pulls a second and a half faster? no way.
i got a 2003 sunfire 2.2 ecotec...i got a pacesetter header, modded intake, full exhaust, and a breather filter...i wreck cavi's and z24's like it was nothing...also honda si's as well...
and about the cavi having 150hp stock? its 150 to the flywheel, which means its pushing 140 maybe...i dynoed my sunfire and im at 156HP... took it to irwindale and my best 1/8 mile is 9.6 @ 74.19 MPH

BUT just like back in the muscle car days they advertise with a lower hp rating to get more interest in the cars and try and fool the gov't and everybody else about emissions and shit. Before I hear a "yeah right", everywhere on the net and in magazines for a stock Z24 states it is over an 8 second 0-60 and the Cobalt is 7.87 seconds for the 06 model, the 07 and 08 is a hair quicker. The 4 door sedan Cobalt is 8.4 seconds, that is the Cobalt you are stomping...not the coupe. Whoever raced your Z24 was not trying, seriously.

That 1996 Cavalier is supposed to be 0-60 in 9.1 for a non-convertable. The Sunfire is supposed to be 8.4 seconds 0-60. That Sunfire has something either mechanically wrong, the driver sucks, or its an automatic. I have never lost to that generation Cavalier in my Sunfire convertable or not. A lot of improvements were made since 96, the 2.2 and 2.4 of that generation is not as good as the newer 2.2 Ecotecs. They are quicker revving and have more linear output. Sometimes it is who is racing.
I asked around the net on why the 2.4 is a hair slower than the 2.2 Ecotec and it is because the 2.4 has an iron block which weighs a lot more. That Sunfire needs an oil change, new fuel filter, fill the tires up and the driver needs to lose weight, seriously.
You know what is sad? The fact that people are talking shit about being slow and/or ricers but yet they have the time to do a search and watch cavaliers. LOL What losers!

The automatic Quad 4s put out ~150HP. The HO versions with the 5 speed were quite a bit faster with 180HP.
Ecotecs shine in how much you can pump them up on boost without breaking them. In pure stock trim they're not all that fast.

That Quad-Four is probably a W41 which had 190 HP brand new. That was the same HP as a '91 Chevy 350.
