  • @JOELHATSWELL i dont think anyone is naturally good at handstand pushups lol. I personally started practicing headstands & frogstands until i could do both for a minute then progressed to a minute wall handstand. After that i started taking my feet away from the wall until i could freebalance for 15-20 seconds then kicking up to and holding freestanding handstands. i kept working on my handstands and pushups against the wall and eventually combined them through trial and error!

  • @E1337Si That's the way to do it. I'm glad that your comment involved honesty and work and didn't sound like "yeah i could do that when i was 5 wit out even practicing I'm so awesome HARHARHAR" as so many of them do. But yeah, I coach gymnastics and doing them against the wall is a great way to learn balance for them.

  • @teskm i progressed really quickly with handstands. i went from not being able to do a handstand to 10+ freestanding handstand pushups in about 10/11 weeks but thats just my personal experience. Other people will take longer, others shorter. However i've been working on a planche pushups for about 8 months and im still not quite there! it'll vary from one person to the next, be patient and enjoy the ride.

  • @E1337Si Holy crap. What did you do to get those results? I have a pretty solid HS base but my pushes have always been weak. Did you do GtG or something else? And have you tried doing what oniijin did to get planche push ups?

  • well when i mentioned the opinion i was referring to the part where you attempt to break me down after saying i've done nothing close to impressive and all that. but if you read the comments they weren't derogatory at all, i was just saying, for ME, not for anyone else, the balancing is the hard bit. i think hes a great athlete based on this video alone, and i wasn't trying to take anything away from him. everyone just seemed to automatically attack me over one vague comment.

To balance you are using your shoulder muscles and such - this takes away from your ultimate strength and what not, and cant focus on the things making you able to do em now. you know?   • most bodybuilders can't do these. Shows pure body strength comes from your body not from weights.

  • That's not necessarily true, but most powerlifters only focus on the powerlifting routine of benching, squatting, and deadlifting.

    Olympic lifters can definitely do these if they have the balance, and people who focus on well-rounded strength rather than size (bodybuilding) can pull this off.

    Bodybuilders do not train for strength. They train for hypertrophy, which involves higher reps (8-12) with less weight. Recruits lots of slow twitch fiber, but not much fast compared to powerlifters.
