  • I wonder why so many libs feel it necessary to criticize things done to help protect our kids by giving them better battlefield weapons? Yea, war sucks and I wish there was a way to get things done without it, but until someone manages a better way we are stuck with the military process we have and I want to see every advantage for our kids in the military to keep them as safe as possible. Wait until you have a kid over in the middle east and you may take on another thought process.

  • how does it works in sand

  • PS CV-90 or Nona/Vena for the win. This thing can go straight to the hollywood.

  • Thets the most complicated of all automatic mortars aroud the world. probably to get more money for industrial complex /like always

  • is it drag and fire or dragon fire ?

  • the latter

  • @THEXXEND its should be called drag and fire.

  • 1:23 is rape scene

  • our bad luck is our enemy is extremly low tech. so our hi tech weapons have to effect against them,

  • actually there is no country that can beat americans, even CHINA can not exist without depending on RUSSIAN hitech weapons, can all those sophisticated guns and tanks stop the new faceless enemy like TALIBANS ? or IRAQ's insurgences?

  • Thats because we have something called Media and we allow politics on the battlefeild

  • No media, no problems.

  • Well... China kinda does have over a billion people... <.<

    o_0

  • Well the US military seems to appreciate flexibility in combination with fire power, speed, and mobility. M777, M777 Portee System, and now Dragon Fire. Impressive flexibility.

  • Um...actually...it would handle well. Like any other weapon, it must be kept up, which it is.

  • At least it looks cool.

  • America's soldiers are the most heavily trained and state of art equipted.

You say the loading system would be fucked over by dust... It can be loaded manually... Still going to put a motar round in your lap in 20-25 seconds. Why don't you suck an egg...

Moron don't you think all this was accounted for? Our weapons make your weapons look like you got it from a hardware store.. :/

  • State of the art equipped? LOL ok.

  • get those poor people! look at their poor equipment and no training because they aren't an army at all but are farmers and hard working people. pffft your future weapons make me laugh at how scared you are that you kill people that aren't even after you.

  • "but are farmers and hard working people."

They are people who are fighting for their country while the Americans are fighting for loot (oil).

  • What the hell does UXO, or unexploded ordanance, have anything to do with this video???

  • how is it crap it's better ,stronger ,lighter and cheaper so in words for a moron like u it's one of the best.

  • Comment removed

  • Well the army has actually done an incredible job of countering even the most advanced IEDs.

And heavy mortars are incredibly valued in Afghanistan in mountain fighting and the new generation of guided 120mm mortar round, makes each as accurate as a Smart bomb. Perfect for ambushes where soldiers are pinned down from a reinforced house with machine guns blaring from each window. Within 30 seconds a 40 pound mortar round can be hitting the target.

  • "The Dragon Fire system is designed to be able to use all NATO types of rifled and smoothbore 120 mm mortar ammunition."

As for "desert dust" getting in the way of the launching mechanism, in the case that this bullshit you speak of DOES happen, it can be operated manually.

  • Future weapons is one of the best shows on telly!

  • it gets rid of terrorists at a faster rate.

  • i like how you use the word terrorists like its some evil army of terrorists HAHA fuckign ridiculous, its funny to see how george bush has brainwashed all these dumb people HAHA he made you scared of nothing.

  • Dragon Fire is NOT crap.

  • where are the reloads stored on this thing?

  • Oh yah, I checked out this ytblow's website, he's got some serious problems. Be warned, he's a consperiacy therorist who thinks politicians are responsible for everything.

  • Don't worry, CIA is underway.

  • ytblows, are you trying to look like a moron? This stuff isn't crap, it's what we are developing to defend ourselves, and it's cool. Just remember that the guys using the these tools of war are keeping your hide safe.

  • this fuck head that made this video is a douche bag fag kid whos a tirate and a terrorist

  • Shit happens. Its still being developed

  • looks like a Singapore mortar design from STeng!!

  • rendering everything automatic has always too sides.

whos gonna fix this thing if theres a problem?

  • Desert dust isnt a problem for most modern equipments anymore. People have found ways to coup it.

  • Wow, you guys love to make poor, uneducated and silly points, don't you? Desert dust? Yeah, that's really going to break down the mechanism they make clear works MANUALLY.

  • how about instead of spending the $2 million to build this bullshit invention, you make it go to research for a cure to diabetes to save a few MILLION lives instead of maybe 50 people you'll kill with this

  • The problem with that is, if we dont spend the 2 million, enemies will have greater chance of destroying them, meaning overunning the country, meaning no research anyways.

  • i dont think if you didnt have maybe 10 automatic mortar launchers that the US would be taken over by islamic farmers with used russian hand me down weapons...

  • no, but if we dont have the 100 or so automatic motars, we would have a harder time in wars.

  • the thing is, i have diabetes and because of that i cant serve my country when the time comes. I just think that the military should stop investing in bullshit weapons like this, and find a goddam cure for diabetes with the millions spent on wasted technology so me and the other 20.8 million americans can answer the call

  • It isn't as easy to find a cure for anything. And the US is spending billions of dollars on medical research as well. Its just that they are also investing in military research.

Also, even if all funds goes into the medical research, a cure might not be guaranteed to be made.

  • no, they're actually NOT funding research nearly at all, all the government gives is just as much as the scientists probably take home as a christmas bonus... i have faith they will find a cure, you just have to see where im coming from, if you could be in my life for a few days you could see how i feel

  • Really? Tell me the figure, and i shall tell you how far off you are.

  • the last fund was only 3 million

  • "of course you wanna be a prick bitch, you take debate classes. you dont have to wake up daily worrying about slow death from kidney dyalasis or lay in bed sick from being too high... so you can take your huge mass knowledge of wikipedia and shove it up your ass for all i care, i have better things to do than debate on you tube..... by the way its only 46 million yearly, not billions you ass pirate"-From tacopimp198520

  • News flash for you pal!

the NIH alone receives 28 Billion Dollars of Funds a year.

  • but how much of that goes to diabetes research? there a thousands of diseases and conditions covered by the NIH

  • yes, but you can't expect the government to cut fundings on all things and focus on diabetes alone. That is just unfair for others.

And the NIH did not only get 3 million dollars of funding, that kind of funding would do nothing.

The US provides some of the highest funds to medical research in the world. (sweden has highest)

Stop being selfish, the government is not going to pull the plug on all other diseases and focus on you.

  • not just me.... the 28 million other americans too. and of course theyre not going to pull funding on everything. BTW when did i saw to pull all funding? i was talking about taking money from military spending and putting it to research. you really went too far debating

  • Pal, look. The US economy is vastly based on its own strength, but a large portion is based on the US military dominance. If the US looses this dominance, their economy would fall and giving you less funds than before.

  • bt we dont need to kick up military funding any more due to WHO we are facing. by this, in the first place, i meant iraqi voulenteers

  • volunteers? i doubt thats what they are.

    More like forced militia.

Also, military dominance isn't just about who we are at war with, but who could be at war with, and who competes with us.

Also, if the US pull out of this war, US wouldn't be able to restore and improve iraq.

  • well its forced here in the us too, its called a draft..... we dont have dominance over a couple countries that are much larger than ours too.... and why are we only trying to improve iraq? have you seen north africa lately?

  • Ahum, the US do have military dominance over any one country so far.

    (bigger countries)

Russia no longer can compete militarily

    Canada has a small military

China has a poorly equipped military

Which other larger or same sized countries are there? oh right. None.

  • china's navy is capable of bringing a war outside the pacific,.

  • yes, but not capable of wining the war

  • it woudn't lose in a case of near defeat they have nuclear arsenal at its disposal, that when they are in extreme situation can be used. specially when a threat of invasion is imminent.

  • this is only true to china (who is an ally)

  • the US is sending help to all over the world, through funds, charity, and supplies(food etc)

    This includes North Africa.

  • why not send troops to all of them?

and not just focus on oil rich iraq?

  • cause other countries would not like that then what if we get another somolia.

  • i remember when i saw this on the news a couple years back. this thing is just plain cool.

  • To the guy who posted the video. If you are going to take the time to voice over over the video at least take 5 minutes to think about your comment. You talk about not knowing the "dud rate"...lol... Ahh, sorry but the guy invented the motar system, not the motar rounds it is firing. If the motar is a dud, it would be the problem of another manufacturer.

  • The video never gives the range of the weapon. As others have noted, they compare it to artillery when it comes across simply as an automated mortar. My guess would be that it does not have the range to be properly compared with an artillery gun.

  • Medium range artillery for troop support and fire suppression, 7 km max range plus it can fire rocket enhanced laser guided and smart munitions against tanks etc..... It is better because mounted in an armoured vehicle it is mobile as well.... And dust doesn't worry it... does dust worry the hydraulics on a backhoe?... Same technology as this.

  • Well, i wonder what happened to the small 2 man operated mortar, lol. All that electronic stuff just makes it less reliable. I think leaving the mortar more portable would be a good idea.

  • no offence to you american people out there but the USMC is not all they are cracked up to be, i fought with them before and they are really not very good soldiers, from what i saw they have big mouths but are not very professional they might be able to take a position.. sloppily... but they cant hold it if you see what i mean

  • You might mean no offense but by God you're giving it. "i fought with them before" My ass! I'd wager the closest you've been to combat is in a video game. Take a position sloppily? Give me a freaking break, what a clown.

  • im in the british army. honestly they have over developed trigger fingers, shooting civvies and stuff, then going back home telling everyone how brave they are maybe if they got stuck in instead of gloating all the time they would actually have something to boast about

  • they should compare it to a mortar and not to artillery, then see how much more mobile and reliable it is.

  • thats the point they want artillary NOT mortars! atilary is more accuret and farther range then mortars

  • the only dud is between your legs.... more bang bang the more dead iraqi ,,,,ooooya

  • 10 rounds per minute!!! Go figure!!! It will do the rounds in a minute but how many minutes will take for the barrel to be cooled to fire safe again?

  • the show is a great show. its not going to give you the price. its not a civilian weapon. u just set ur self up to look like an ass by editing around with this video clip

  • This show is more about how to take one of the oldest simplest weapon systems-a mortar-and make it more complex and expensive and make it seem more effective to justify the cost. what garbage! it does not help the show is comparing it to a unautomated Howitzer instead of a mortar that can be carried almost anymore in pieces on the backs of men and dropped into a trench for protection.

  • A convensional mortar cannot receive a command, aim within 1 mil and fire on a target within 20 seconds. This type of system can. Also, this can reduce a mortar crew from 4 men to 2.

This sytem has lots of problems, but it is only a technology demonstrator prototype.

  • they can if they qualified expert on their mortar gunner's exam. An M120 with a good crew can be just as effective as any technology.

  • High-speed low drag. That is freaking leet! Oorah!

  • you would also know, sending soilders into battle without proper armor and weapons. cos of costs

  • reminds me of battle field 2

  • bullshit mechs!

  • the enemy (terrorists) are the ones that have to worry about duds...their weapons are all from the black market and old ulike americas

  • Actually the show is pretty lame. Short on much important info. The ex SEAL acts like he has a hard-on every time he see a weapon. I bet you do too. I mean shit, He has not had one critical question in any of the shows. What a freaking tool.

  • Well, he gets paid to act like that. The point of the show is to make people who don't much to go, "WOWZER, EXPLOSIONS!" instead of actually evaluate the weapon.

  • Ya, because the majority of people who watch TV are interested if the gun has, "mega, plate-steel, 5.61244343mm, tempered steel stock, that was made with fibric-aluminum lava."

  • I like the show but I'd like to see more foreign stuff, not just american. For example numerous european countries are developing military technologies.

  • no offence but i would say we got better ones than the US in europe, norwegian artillery is a whole league above other NATO countries

  • This is individual. But Eurofighter is kickassing e.g.

  • he has a script lol

  • thats why he was kicked out from the navy seals, he can't be autonomous. always needs direction. LOL.

  • @ytblows yes dust problems? costs? sweden has guided mortar round you fire from normal mortarlouncher

  • Hey Rob583 - Dud rate is not publicly available. Dud rates of other ammo types is irrelevant to dud rate of this particular ammo. Price??? I am commenting on how the media doesn't do their job. I don't have time to do it for them. I do actually have a life and am not paid to do this. We routinely field crap. Hummers w/ too little armor, M16s, Aegis etc, etc. My beef is more w/ the media. I was commenting on the show. Pay attention next time.

  • the war is dumb but this show kicks ass you pussy

  • Sounds like you just have a bone to pick with the military in general, and you used an extremely weak argument to do it with. Try again, douche bag.

  • If you knew dick about military gear in the first place, you'd know that we also meticulously service our equipment and don't often field things that are going to break down in harsh environments. If they have problems, like the original M1 Abrahms and B-1 Lancers did, the contractors are sued and forced to fix it. The loading mechanism in this case doesn't have a whole lot of moving parts and looks pretty well designed to me.

  • Your slop also failed to mention the cost and failure rate of the ammunition. Mortar rounds are traditionally far more reliable than, say, cluster bomblets, and American manufacturing or even contracted manufacturing is far superior to that of the rest of the world, resulting in extremely low failure rates.
