Wow just watching this for my music theory class to analyze this piece in structural function... But this is an amazing performance! I can close my eyes and really feel you know where to create the tension and played it extremely well. This piece is amazing how long it takes to FINALLY resolve :P. AWESOME job
I like it ..... Okay ... it' a rather romantic interpretation and the tempos are being wildly swung around. But somehow much more satisfying that either the Gould or Gilels. The scale passages sparkle and I love the "dialogue" of both hands in the 'dolce' section. Too many performers seem to shortchange those beautiful bass voices. And the two against three portion is the best I've heard so far.
Too romantic his interpretation...incomprehensible tempo changes and the strong echo in the recording disguises that he often plays quite unclean. I would never say that I am a better pianist but his playing of Beethoven is very questionable. Though I really enjoy him conducting Bruckner.
There really isn't definitively a 'best' piano maker in the world. It completely depends on the individual instrument and the player. I tend to agree that Steinways are more likely to sound beautiful and be easy to control, but then again I've played Bosendorfers that feel like the greatest instruments I've ever played. It's really a subjective question. I, for one, tend to think Yamahas are too bright and difficult to control, yet listen to how Richter made them sound!
@Lawrencelovespiano Steinway And Sons uprights are not the best but the grands are great. The uprights don't last. If you want an upright, get a Yamaha.
Does anybody know what kind of piano he is playing? I know it may seem like a silly question. Sometimes I wish that I could afford a concert grand like that.
wow...amazing skill and the best touch i've ever heard!

Inspiring. I am learning to play this piece and am up to about 1/2 speed without too many mistakes. Yes, it must be a joy to play on a Steinway.

This is Beethoven as its best. Barenboim makes quite intelligent performances. Wise, sublime and ration.

Steinway And Sons make the best grand and upright pianos, when I am older, I am going to own one, and I am going to be a pianist.
