I love your videos! I have always stored food but there was never really a rhyme or reason to it. Now I have more of a focus and it will be easier to plan. As a candle maker you have given me ways to reuse my left-overs in new and resourceful ways that I had never even considered. Tomorrow as I heat my wax I will have a new relationship with it. Thank you once again and I am sure there will be a day that I will remember your teachings and my survival prospects will greatly improve!
I saw this video a few months back. At the time I was in the "bug out bag" stage and your ideas, while good, sounded overboard to me. But as I became exposed to more ideas and concerns, your mindset is sounding more and more sane. (In fact, the people that aren't preparing now seem completely crazy.) I'll be moving next year so I won't have a community network. Do you have any suggestions to approach your plan as an single person? I think I need to meet future purchase partners. :P
I never looked at it that way. I've been so overwhelmed and focused on just buying food items that I didn't have a plan or menu. That seems much more manageable to me. Thank you for breaking it down. And~ at 3 am you are allowed to go blank for a few. lol
I saw the ending. I need to work on editing myself. I have a hard time throwing my personality out in my vids and it takes me a million takes before I just stop caring and go with the last take I did. ha Funny stuff. Mine's more like da doo duh a yeah my gun is uuhhh duh deerrrrr ummmm crap. start over...
@StreetLegendsUT lol - believe me, I have plenty like that! If I posted my raw video I'd be laughed out of here :) What's crazy is when you get jamming on a topic and then suddenly you completely forget what you were saying and where you were. Sometime I'll do an outtakes video, that should be interesting :)
I get the general idea of the plan, and that's good idea of how to get to the quantities that you need to store. The way you rotate is also a good idea. Thanks for the info. Take Care :-))
@SurviveN2 Glad you enjoyed it, thanks for the comment! Food storage concepts are really tricky because each person's family and lifestyle is different - but hopefully this was pretty universal.
I like the concept it does seem to be a good way to manage meals but do you think it would work with a 21-meal plan. I think having the extra meals would add more variety but maybe it would get too complicated. What does your experience tell you?
How do you add a new recipe/meal to the menu? Do you delete the least favorite meal to keep it at 14 meals?
@fletcher3913 I think it would definitely work with a 21 day plan - it'll mean more work though and one of my goals here was to minimize the amount of work you have to do with it. I actually have more than 21 different meals stored, which works fine except for rotation can get tough. Once you've put away 3 months worth of food on this program, you find yourself living and thinking differently - preparedness gets in the blood!
@katzcradul based on your advice, I just watched her videos. She's talking about something very similar to what I'm discussing here, but I've developed my system a little bit differently than she has. The approach and lifestyle changes I discuss in this video directly tie into and is part of the basis for an entire series of videos I'm putting together. Thanks for pointing me to Wendy's system, I like a lot of it but also do things a little bit differently.
