At 0:29 during the last 4 beats of the 7/8 bar - what I do there is superimpose the last 2 beats of 4 beats against 3 in the 7 beat phrase. So count the first four beats of the 7 and then for the last 3 beats of the 7 count 3 against 4 (dotted 16th notes). It sounds more complex than it really is. It's not really triplets I'm afraid. Hope that helps to clarify your comments guys. All the best. MK
I saw this guy yesterday playing with Arturo Sandoval in Montreal and he made a wonderfull team with Arturo. Arturo could not play with his musician because they mised the fligh due the snow storne in the city. Arturo played with Hilario Duran, MArk in the drums and two of Sandoval musicians, the Sax and the Base.
hooo baby, I saw him perform this at Musicfest in Markham for a workshop. He brought many things to my attention that we as drummers need to remember (listening, time, feel, etc.), but yeah this was sick. Thank you, Mark!
Man when I went into my audition at humber I was so nervous, I didn't make it this year, but I'm going to keep practising and lets hope next year I'll do better.
hey mark! Its your cousin again, Declan! your increadible! Keep it up! This should have way more than 4000 views! Anyways I just wanted to say thanks on the music books, and the shirt you got me for my birthday and christmas! hmmmm what else? Ohhh yeah! I wish best of luck with your son at humber! Boy, he's only what, 3? And he's starting music already! Well, I guess your keeping the music spirit alive in you through your son! Anyways, merry christmas! And a happy new year! Oh ya loved the vid!
MK is one of the reasons I took drums seriously. I used to go and see him with Montuno Police at PWD's in Yorkville back in the 80's. He always used to let me in free. Thanks for all the inspiration Mark.
Hi guys, sorry for the anger I have caused. I thought it would be obvious that I was joking but sometimes it's hard to communicate that in cyberspace. At least MK got it :)
What stupidity please. Who said that you keep droping a bit in Emiliano? This guy obviously doesn't know other time signatures. HELLO!!!! How you have the courage to come here and write some shit without even know what are you talking about ???!!!!
I played drums in "Full House".I'm in So Cal still playing. I did some playing with David Foster Then Josh Groban. Your playing great as ever!! Stay in touch .I dont know if this will post twice I'm new to the tube. You sound Great as always! My best Ed.G

Mark Kelso is a really good drummer, but it seems like he kept dropping a beat in this one. Fortunately for him he's playing with top notch musicians who can show him where "1" is.
to elaborate on the other comment, 7/8 means, its ONE BEAT, away from 4/4, DUH, I mean honestly, do you think that the whole band is going to stay ONE BEAT out the whole time??? jeesh!

:O is that a mistake at 0:29? I didn't know he could make mistakes :P. now i don't feel so bad about my playing.
Then again who knows, maybe that one hesitated cross stick was intentional... but it sounded out of time to me.
Either way its a freaking animal... I just started laughing my ass of for the last 2 minutes of it.

@powerfulpaul ... triplet phrasing, friend. Stretching the time, but not out of it.
