Seems we have the same passion for June Anderson... I am perfectly aware she was/is not very popular in the USA -- for some reasons I do not clearly understand - but in Europe -- and for me -- she remains one of the top belcanto singer with a stunning "presence" on stage....

I have discovered her in the 1983 Geneva Lucia by chance since I was interested in the tenor and conductor at the time.

Since then I have been following her all over Europe, USA (NY, SF, Chicaco).. even in Buenos-Aires for a first Norma which she cancelled at the last minute (replaced by Lucia Aliberti).

Unfortunately I have not had the chance to attend of one performances since her Norma in Parma in 2001.Thanks for the testimonies you also bring and I expect to post some more too.

Like you, I have not seen her live since 2001 in Traviata at the Met. I met her backstage after Norma in Chicago and was so nervous I could barely speak.

We could have met in Chicago then since I had the opportunity to discuss with her as she walked out of the opera house after one of the Norma performances (certainly intensive moments for this singer).

Another opportunity I had was in Pesaro, but this time by chance on the street, very late after a "Ricciardo e Zoraide" performance. Not to talk about myself here but this gives me the opportunity to salute the way June Anderson speaks absolutely fluent french... just like me! This also explains her great contribution to french opera ("Robert le Diable", Hamlet, "Le Postillon de Longjumeau" etc...)
