I was on the train for a day and a half and omg i wanted to jump it was so bad. Never travel for 1+days without a sleeper cart. Never again that was awful
pretty cool facts about amtrack trains (discription) and getting chance to talk to entineer and conducters,
about the toilet, these days they are waste tank collected, these are drained and cleaned out while train car is at an amtrak depot and usually during food replenishment and general cleaning.
really glad they got rid of that crack addict passenger who was being weird, NOBODY needs people like that. i too, NEVER been on ANY train, accept amusement park loop rides.
what a fucken ride....after i got off i still felt like i was on the train still, i met eric and he is now a great friend to have ill seen you soon here in toledo eric...
Thanks so much for the pictures of Montana! Did you know Montana is the best state in our beautiful country??I have been on a train in Russia. Yep! in Russia the crapper dumps onto the tracks! They won't let you go if the train is not moving.
I took a bus ride across the USA in the late 70s and there was this freak on the bus who hit on every woman(all ages). It didn't take long for the driver to go to the back of the bus and remove his 'Enticer' stick. It was stowed in the engine bay and was a hand made hardwood bat. He held the bat in his hands and blocked the freak from getting back on after a stop. Everyone on the bus cheered as we left him on the pad. Some of the guys were ready to take him on if the driver didn't.
Oh Man, I did across 6 states on a bus once and 4 a few times. I will NEVER go more than a coup0le hundred miles on a bus ever again, I'd rather walk. The train looks very cool to me. I've never been on a train. I hate airport crap these days, piercings and all, and I think next time I will take a train.
That trip took 78 hrs total, LA to Buffalo. It took me 3 days to recuperate from the lack of sleep. We had some guy on board that had to clear his mucus in his throat everything few minutes so when you tried to nod off, he would do his routine and the whole bus would sigh afterwards. He couldn't help it and he went all the way to Columbus Ohio. Nightmare. No more bus for this guy, never ever.
LOl I have a friend who is an engineer I can ask him about the toilet but I'm pretty sure they are all chemical toilets now.... at least in most places.
Thanks for sharing this. I always wanted to travel that way. Sounds loud and vibrational though. How was the temp control? The trip looked pretty gray and sunless. Do they allow you to bring a cooler full of supplies(Food, drink, beer)?

Symptoms would certainly indicate crack, unless he was acting like he was hallucinating, in which case PCP might have been involved.

yes! they don't care if you bring your own alcohol, as long as you don't get plastered on the train. food is recommended.
