@manindaironmask dont u ever dare put yngwie on the same level as jason becker paul is way better and far more diverse player than yngwie will ever dream of
@CHICKMAGNET66666 yngwie is on the same level as jason becker.. though becker's talents are unsurpassed yngwie is also incredibly talented .. and its not about being diverse ..if yngwie wanted to play jazz or fusion or whatever u know as well as i do that he can easily however classical is his style his home.. he was raised playing and listening to it it as a child in sweden... dont talk as if yngwie isnt great because if u really look at it he is one of the greatest
@manindaironmask He's pretty great at making every song sound like the last song. Pretty great at using the same two modes for every song. Pretty great at making every articulation of every solo sound the same. Pretty great at doing the same diminished arpeggios every song. Pretty great at being a stuck up, egotistical prick.
yeah i do agree with everything you say.. however i wanna add i find yngwie's playing very entertaining.. i dono if its his arrogance or his coolness but i just i dono he has a lot of appeal for me with his flare
paul gilbert is indeed very perfected in what he plays by how i see it.. his technique is amazing.. but he doesnt do one thing.. sweep pick.. but im sure he can though
and yngwie plays blues! why doesnt anyone know that ?!?!?!
but at the end.. they are two amazing players maan
but dude when yngwie first started out there was NO ONE that could compare man.. NO ONE.. everybody started fast stuff in minor modes and that took his style away though he himself still sticks with it
@manindaironmask well....no one played fast in that style sort of style, no question. But hey lot's of Jazz guitarists played also that fast, so there is just a difference in the style. But from where did he get his style? right ritchie blackmoore, without him Yngwie would be a total different guitarist -we all would be different guitarists-.
but to make a point; I see you like yngie but be honest, his songs sounds pretty much all the same, but Steve Vai or Paul Gilbert's songs are more special
@xDimebladex "it's interesting for 10-15 minutes" - that's just some much bullshit. If you actually think so, something is wrong with you. Gilbert has great technique, but Malmsteen's tone is much more pure.
@kranen1 well, looks like you're a troll cause you insult peoplw because they have a different opinion.
but well I'm not like you so i can talk/write normal.
well, maybe gilbert got more distortion/overdrive but nontheless his sound is more comfortable. Listen to yngwie and listen closley. I has such an...disquiting reverb on his guitar.
BUT like i said before, listen to yngwie, you will just hear neo-classic.
listen to gilbert, you'll hear neoclassic, rock, metal and a bit jazz.
@xDimebladex I didn't insult you because of that, I insulted you because you said that Yngwie plays the same shit over and over again after 15 minutes. You know, everybody plays the same music, over and over again. Maybe the best of us musicians can improvise 30% of the time, during a good night. The rest is just made up patterns. Yngwie improvises alot, but he sticks to his genre, the one he loves the most.
@xDimebladex I don't care if Gilbert plays more genres, who cares? And please, explain to me what Metal solo guitar is? Or Rock solo guitar XD It's just the different scales the use, and how they play it. Malmsteen is a neo-classic guitarist, and he plays the genre, simple as that. If you like plays who play all sorts of things you should look up Shawn Lane, a player who influenced Gilbert alot. I've listened to Gilbert and Malmsteen for a long time, love them both. But Yngwie is the original.
@xDimebladex But it's very obvious you don't play guitar. If you did, you would probably be able to hear that Malmsteen do not repeat himself more than any other guitarist. You get fooled by the speed. There's no guitarist on this planet who's as accurate as Yngwie is. Have you even heard Far Beyond the Sun? or Black Star? Seriously man, Gilbert is one of the best guitarists to date, but nothing he ever has done is even close to Black Star for example.
@xDimebladex Also Yngwie writes whole symphonies with everything by himself. That's his thing, to play neo-classic guitar. Some people don't like it. I don't like everything about Yngwie either but can't stand when people say he repeat himself more than anyone else. I like Gilbert's band Racer X very much, I listen to them alot. Pieces like Technical Difficulties and Scarified are great songs. It's all about taste.
well, i play guitar, for nearly 3 years and i guess i'm quite good. but however. I have Yngwie cd's a Best of and rising force. and yes he has influenced lot's of guitarrists. I've never said thats untrue.
But imo you need more than perfect tequnice and feeling to be a good musician, 'cause a good musician can play EVERY genre.
and the synophony stuff...well it's cool no question, but i'm sure that vai's upcoming symphony is going to be better ;)
@xDimebladex But with perfect technique and great feeling and you are almost there. You just have the be creative. Malmsteen knows how to play alot of genres, but he just likes the neo-classic genre, and that's what his fans wanna hear. When he's just jamming with friends or at his house I'm sure he plays other stuff too :) Sometimes he does some Hendrix covers live. When I watch Yngwie live, I don't wanna see him doing anything else than his neo-classic stuff.
@xDimebladex Havn't heard so much about Vai's symphony actually. I'm sure it's gonna be great, but I can't see it be any better than Yngwie's. I'm not that into Vai, just don't like his playing that much I guess. Lydian scales and that "fluid" sound of his. But yeah, he's a great player. Yngwie has been doing his classic composions for a long time though :) You know when people heard about Yngwie they were like "Wtf, can you play like this?!?!" - and after that he influenced almost everyone.
well i love vai's playing, and i don't think that he is influenced by malmstenn 'cause as vai started playing, noone knew malmsteen.
but hey, if you coment like "he influneced ect" than you have to love ritchie blackmoore and rhandy rhodes, because those two are actually the fathers of neo-classic.
@xDimebladex Vai was probably influenced by Satriani alot, by envolved his own style. He's not influenced by Yngwie at all I think. Yeah, Blackmore and Rhoads were also pioneers of the genre, but Yngwie was the first of all guitarists to invent the "Shredstyle" you know. Also he kinda took it to the next level. Rhoads was a great guitarist, but in my eyes his a little overrated you know. Blackmore is one of those old school guitarists like Tony Iommi that has influenced everyone.
@kranen1 i don't think rhodes is underrated. However, i don't think that malsteen was the forst shredder. in my opinion guys like randy and also gary moore where the first shredders. Ok, they haven't made orchestral work or haven't made an instrumental album.
But it was the same. Exactlly the same. Look at theyre solos, it's is just beautiful shredding^^
@xDimebladex Have you ever seen any of them use sweep picking? Gary Moore is a Blues guitarist, he's no shredder. If you call Randy a shredder, then Glenn Tipton and KK Downing from Judas Priest are just as much shredders, and they came way before him. Glenn Tipton is twice as good as Rhoads aswell. I don't call any of those shredders. Some people call Eddie Van Halen a shredder, I don't think he's a shredder either :P To be a shredder is not necessarily a good thing.
@kranen1 look at the video with the nam " Gary Moore Empty Rooms Live 1987 His Best Guitar Solo". Your gonna recognize that he´s not just plaing blues, and that it really has to to something with shredding.
Well, the first sweep paterns made Jazz guitarrists. OK, they used different scales. But they used sweep picking.
well i know that shreding is not always a good adjektiv^^
@xDimebladex I'm talking sweep picked arpeggios here man. He's not actually sweep picking, he just sweeps really sloppy, and just one time xD My point was that Yngwie is the original shredder. It was the same revolution as when Hendrix came along you know.
@CHICKMAGNET66666 Yngwie has accomplished more than both Becker and Gilbert put together, and they all know it. Becker may have been a great talent, and would for sure have been one of the greatest guitarists ever if hadn't been sick. Malmsteen was a great influence for Becker. There's only one guitarist that is equal to Yngwie, and that's Shawn Lane.
.....It's right there in your face. You can get a real good look at both Paul's fretting and picking hand. Yea, not sure what else to say, it's right in front of you.

@manindaironmask well, it's right that yngwie is one of the best, his tquniece is amazing as well as his accuracy.
BUT: be onest, when he starts playing, it's interesting for 10-15 minutes, after that time it sounds all the same.
But Mr. Gilbert has also the tequnice and i guess his accuracy is even better...but I'm not totally sure about that.
