  • "I'm a warnin' you galoots, don't step on my blue suede shoes." lol

  • haha Elvis was so cute, all the time!

  • Does anyone realize that the fiddle player (Rattlesnake Griffith) is Andy Griffith before he was famous.

  • I did this skit in the fourth grade with 3 of my classmates after I watched it on an Elvis biography. I've been an Elvis fan since I was 7, so naturally I played Elvis' part, even though I'm a girl. Girls can be Elvis too, if they want. I copied down all four parts and my classmates and I practiced it a couple of times and then performed it in front of our fourth grade class and a few teachers. That's a fun memory. I wonder if my classmates remember doing that. It was cute. :-)

  • nktrygg, you have no idea what you're talking about. For one thing, the theme of this sketch is Western, not Southern. Westerns were one of the biggest genres on TV at the time, like Reality or Forensic shows now. Spoofs of TV genres have always been fodder for comedy sketches.

To that point and krrruptidsoless' comment, Let's see if Jay Leno's "Jersey Shore" and Jaywalking bits are funnier in 2054 than this is today. I wasn't born then either, but I can always get a laugh out of Imogene Coca!

  • hahaha I find this hilarious! I <3 Tumbleweed Presley! and I love how the girls scream when he is simply walking...always a show stopper!

  • one of the most horrifying moments of Elvis' career - the whole idea to make fun of him for being southern should have canceled the appearance - but Parker was so determined to shift Elvis into being a mainstream entertainer. No wonder he took drugs to help him forget the humiliation and deal with the never ending prejudice he experienced - and no wonder he never bothered to fight for himself, when he was so conditioned to expect to be second class -

  • @nktrygg

uh what are you talking about? they were doing a parody of western films... you know OLD Western Films??? they weren't old then, they were new and everyone loved them!

what do they make fun of on SNL?? STUFF THAT PEOPLE LIKE

plus, southern and western are different

  • I guess this was humor in the 50's. Probably why I wasn't born yet. I'm guessing he had aspirin as his sponsor cuz this is annoying. The old say anything that comes across your blank mind and think its funny years. Move back and forth to and fro and let your emotions go. Hopefully someone will make everyone nervous and they'll laugh. And if your not getting laughs just start flubbing. Or just be normaly ignernt.<Tuh.

This entertainment is why men wished they went to the Korean war. Git.

  • Elvis Was The Man And Will Always Be The Most Original Performer. Everything that All These Performers Do Today, Elvis Presley Did It First.

  • is this full episode available somewhere on DVD?

  • yes

  • where?

  • imogene coca! groovy!

  • This is Great! and funny!

    lol

  • Well, considering you can tell who the more practiced performers are in this, Elvis actually comes off a bit more natural in style than the others. Andy Griffith is appealing, as usual, and tends to be the funniest in a rather unfunny skit.

  • My favorite show!

  • ... the only person dressed cool in this vid...

  • Andy Griffith and Imogene Coca was also featured in this skit.

This is Elvis' first-ever acting job; before 'Love Me Tender'.
