  • ABSOLUTELY AN AWESOME VERSION /marshall rocksssss/

  • Saw Marshall Crenshaw in the pub at St Clair College, Windsor, Ontario probably about 1979... loved this song ever since!

  • The minor diffrences between different versions of the same song often have the effect of recreating the magic of first hearing the song.

  • this is terrible audio quality...this is not the original

  • I saw him at Chicagofest in around '84. He was so great. Like Buddy Holly, reincarnated, maybe.

  • When in 1982 was this song released?

  • one of the best pop songs ever

  • @falconhead67 For sure...it really is the best of the best...

  • did he borrow the melody from "cruel to be kind"?

  • @calimar28 there's definitely some similarities in the chorus, the chords but I don't think the melody.

  • For those wondering which album this is from, after a lot of searching I've found it. It's from an album called "The 9 Volt Years," and the song can be bought on Amazon. I like this version a lot more than the "regular" version.

  • @LifeSizePotato This is the demo that was sold to Robert Gordon. Robert Gordon's version of the song sounds a lot like it. When MC recorded it himself a year later, he changed it up a bit. But this is the song in its pure form. "9 Volt Years" is a great CD, full of gems like this.

  • What a great tune! Brings back the memories...This version sounds slightly different than the LP version..Marshall still rocks!! even 28 years after the release of this classic tune!

  • This is the original I believe. Yes, is it on any of his compilations? Need to get this rendition for sure. Love it!

  • Sorry I don't know if this is on any of his compilations I picked this up on napster.

  • @BOMBAYBOB1 I've been enjoying this song since like 83 and this is the first time ive ever heard this version. I like the other version a lot better, but this is neat

  • @jnbjones1 Robert Gordon did a decent cover as well.

  • @jnbjones1 the second track on the compilation ''this is easy! the best of marshall crenshaw''.

  • @jnbjones1

This is the original. I have it on vinyl. Lovr it!!!

  • @TheMustangsally75 Is that like "lurve it!"?

  • @franklanguage

  • @jnbjones1
